Club News www.eldoradohillsbowmen.com December 2015/January 2016 El Dorado Hills Bowmen Official Newsletter of the El Dorado Hills Bowmen President s Report Phone 916-939-0439 E-Mail tomgrube@comcast.net By Tom Grube Hello everyone! I hope you had a happy and family filled Thanksgiving. Things have been busy at the range with several projects underway. Tony Dunn, range manager, has been busy building the new wall over at the 10 20 yard practice range. The wall has been dug, framed and Wednesday it was poured. Tony had help from many including Eric Land, Dave Stroncak, Bill Peterson, Quang Nguyen and others. The wall turned out great and will eventually be filled and finished. With the new wall in place and when finished this will provide more room for the students attending classes and seating for the parents. Bill Peterson has been the leading force in constructing the new cement pads. Bill has also had help from many others so the project is moving along nicely. I am not sure of the current count but I know he has another 4 ready to pour on the upper 14. I am among the non-walking wounded and fractured my right femur just below the hip joint. This happened October 6 th and I will be confined to a wheel chair with no weight bearing until the end of December. I should be up and dancing in time for the January banquet on January 9 th. Speaking about the banquet please mark your calendars to attend. The invitations are probably included in this newsletter so please return to Glenda so we have an accurate head count. The cost is reasonable and the food has been great. We also have the entire Grange Hall to ourselves. Let us hear from you with your hunting success stories and photos as proof. Send to Richard English at Richard.english@verizon.net. See you at the Banquet. Tom COMING SOON!!!! Please save the dates of the International Sportsmen s Expo January 23-24, 2016 This is a chance for you to help out with the archery booth, have fun, and earn credit toward your 2016 work days. For more information, contact Lisa Pole and check out the EDHB website.

It was nice to see some members at the Monster Swap Meet & Bash in October. We had three attendees in great costumes and the decision for first place was tough. The flying ghost and Lexi (head with apple on it) were well received by the archers. Our club house was decorated with a fantastic lunch of Tacos and Nachos with drinks and candy. My favorite activity was trying to eat the donut off a string, hanging from a rail without the use of your hands. I laughed so hard I could not even get the donut near my mouth. Club shoots have not been popular at all this year. Many have expressed that they just want to shoot and not keep score and not have a set time. I am reaching out to all of you, our members, in hopes that I will hear how you would like the club shoots to be arranged. We are getting ready to place another shirt/sweatshirt order so if anyone is interested I need to have money and sizes in hand before I order. I wish to place the next order by December 31 st. Cost is $24 (sizes S-Xl) $27 (2X-5X) Sweatshirts in the Ash Gray to match the Polo shirts $35-S-XL or $40-2X-5X All clothing is pre-ordered and once embellished they are not eligible for return. If you need sizing charts please let me know and we will make them available. May all of you be blessed this holiday season with family and friends, and your days be filled with peace and happiness as you share the Spirit of the Holidays with loved ones. Lisa 2

VICE PRESIDENT S REPORT Hi everybody! Happy Holidays!! Hope you all get to spend time with loved ones! It's that time of year again where the amazing members of EDHB get to put together archery s best 3D animal open shoot :) I'll be bugging, begging and maybe even bribing you all to help out with either setting up, taking down, or helping out the day of the shoot! It's kind of a big deal, so please think about helping make it a huge success. We had our first ever swap meet at the range in October, all though it was small, it was our first with hopefully more in the future! We had a few people show up to sell and some good deals were made. Thank you to everyone who helps to make our range the amazing place that it is! Sheri * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * IN MEMORIUM Bob Nation 9/19/37 10/24/15 Long time El Dorado Hills Bowmen member Bob Nation passed away. He will be missed very much. He was an avid competitor in the archery world and had accumulated many, many titles and awards locally, statewide, and nationally. His induction into the California Archery Hall of Fame will take place in January. He did know he was being given this honor prior to his passing. Our prayers are with his family at this time. CALIFORNIA ARCHERY HALL OF FAME INDUCTION DINNER Just a reminder that the 4 people being inducted into the California Archery Hall of Fame in January are all El Dorado Hills Bowmen. The inductees are: Bob Nation, Rodger Cady, Joe Wylie, and Mike Woltering. If you are interested in attending this banquet, please contact Pam Severtson 530-474-3324. El Dorado Bowmen Skills Survey Included in this issue of the EDHB newsletter is a Skills Survey. With it, you can see where the club needs your help and we can see the skills you bring to the club. A club goal this year is to provide ample opportunities for members to take advantage of the 50% discount on annual dues. We hope to provide these opportunities by scheduling many events to chose from, by better communications about future work parties, and by defining tasks that match the skills of our members. Towards those ends, we ask that each member complete the Skills Survey and return it to any club officer or mail it to Glenda Chastain. New membership applicants are being asked to complete the skill survey and include it with their completed application. 5
