Committee News General Badge Requirements All members must wear/display their plastic ID badge while visiting /or utilizing either range. *** If you see anyone using badge #390 or #498, please report this to any Association Officer as these are invalid badge #s *** General Range Information As a reminder, this is a cooperative club. It takes everyone's help to take care of the ranges. All ranges are now stocked with supplies/tools to fix replace target backboards in every house. If you see issues with the target backboard(s), please fix it/them. Taking trash out of the range houses is also a member responsibility. There are dumpsters located at each range. It only takes a few minutes to clean up if you see the trash can getting full, please empty it. There is no dedicated staff to take care of these two tasks. Only you can make your club better. If there are problems with buildings, locks or fences please let the range chairman or a club officer know. General Lock Combination Information It has been noticed that some members have been opening the combination locks at the ranges for entry only changing one of the tumblers to lock the gate back up. This is not a safe practice as anyone can come up look at the lock over time could easily put together what our combination is. We have already had a case of valism at the Sanford range this year. Please help out roll all of the lock tumblers to a rom number when your done. Thanks... Committee News Continued Sanford Range: We are still having issues with someone taking things apart at this range stealing them. If you have any information please contact one of the club officers or committee chairpersons. It was brought to our attention that someone was using what appears to be glass containers as targets on one of the ranges left the remains scattered on the range. This is unacceptable un-safe. Remember this is your club. Your dues may pay for what we have but without you or someone else to volunteer clean up after you it is not going to be done. Be proud of what we have take care of it. We are a volunteer club, with out you your help there is no club. BERWICK RANGE If you shot at the Berwick range this winter you owe a big thank you to Doug Phil Readio! They spent many hours snow blowing so you could get in. The winter has not been kind to our range in Berwick. The snow brought down the stove pipe on the 25 yard range several times. The building on the 200 yard range is going to need extensive repairs. As the snow melts the road is going to be very muddy please use caution. Please remember that this is all of ours club. The people who have been working on it are volunteering their time energy. It is not their job to do all of the maintenance. IT IS ALL OF OUR JOB! If you see a target board that needs to be replaced, replace it. It s only a couple of screws. If the trash can needs to be emptied, then take it over to the dumpster empty it. We have one of the finest shooting facilities in New Engl. It will only stay that way if everyone pitches in helps. Remember to support the events at our range: 3-gun Archery Shotgun Cowboy Plates I will be looking forward to all of your help this season. Thanks, Jim Shearer Berwick Range chairman. VIA CON DIOS 4
Committee News Continued Fish Stocking Report: For those of you that enjoy winter fishing the fall 2016 stocking report for York County is on pages 8-9. Stocking in the county for 2017 is on page 9. If you would like to see the information for other counties go to: (http://www.maine.gov/ifw/fishing/reports/stocking/stocking.htm). Safety: Safety courses for 2017 have been listed on the Maine State website at (http://www.maine.gov/ifw/education/safety/index.htm). The hunting archery for York county are listed on page 7. See the Maine State website for other counties. ************** DO NOT post any targets on the 4x4 posts or the 2x4s that hold the backboards. Place your targets on the backboards away from the 4x4 posts 2x4s. We spend a lot of money on lumber every year so that you can have backboards to tack your targets onto. There is no need for the damage that is being done to these frame works by bullets. DO NOT shoot at rocks. Your bullets will not stay in the range if you hit the rock. Remember, your bullets must impact into the berm after going through your target. Please, think safety at all times while at the ranges. One mistake could close the range, or worse cost someone their life. Safety first, fun second. PLEASE SHOOT ONLY AT PROPER TARGETS WITH A BERM BEHIND YOUR TARGETS. Tired of seeing this notice from the old newsletter, then help out remind those around you that have forgotten. 5
