SIMON HOBDAY CLASSIC Simon Hobday, one of South Africa s golfing legends, passed away on the 2nd of March 2017. The creation of the Simon Hobday Classic will honour a decorated and respected champion, who had numerous victories on the Sunshine, European and Champions Tour. The Simon Hobday Classic offers a unique opportunity for corporates and individuals to experience tournament golf in the Mbombela region. Held from the 18 th to the 20 th of April 2018 at the Mbombela Golf Club, the event will aim to raise funds for the Endangered Wildlife Trust to support the Wild Dog. The event will bring together South Africa s best Senior Professionals over the age of 50 to compete against one another. The field will consist of the likes of John Bland, Chris Williams and James Kingston, with the aim of becoming the first Simon Hobday Classic Champion. PAGE 2
EVENT FORMAT In an effort to bring fans and golfers closer to the action, the Simon Hobday Classic begins with a 2 day Pro-Am, with 40 Senior Pros and 80 Amateurs competing. The Pros scores will count towards their final event score, making every shot vital. The final day will feature only the Pros, where they will battle it out for their share of the R300,000 prize fund. PAGE 3
PRO-AM The Simon Hobday Classic Pro-Am provides the opportunity for amateurs to play Mbombela Golf Club with a professional from the Simon Hobday Classic field. The Pro-Am will start on Wednesday, the 18 th of April, and continues on Thursday the 19 th of April, followed by an exclusive EWT Conservation Function, including an auction and prize giving. Entry is open to both males and females of all age groups, where you will play off your official club handicaps. (maximum 24) The format will be a three-ball Alliance Stableford. The Alliance score is recorded on each hole. Ladies may play from the forward tees as per the golf course design and the scorecard stroking. PAGE 4
