Corvette Expressions 3rd Edition Volume 125 January, 2017 Happy New Year! Welcome 2017 and another great year ahead for Corvette Express! I would like to thank everyone for their help this past year, for making 2016 a very successful year. All committee and executive board members do an excellent job in keeping our club vibrant and moving forward. I would also like to welcome Howard Fink as our new V.P. and Carol Heh as our new Sgt at Arms. I wish them much success in their new positions. Our activities committee has already been hard at work planning and organizing a tremendous list of events for us. As usual, check our website, this newsletter, and attend the monthly meetings to keep current on all that we do... Just a reminder, our holiday party is Sat. Jan 14th. You can still sign up and pay at the January meeting. Cost is $40 p/p. Bill Zide will be available to collect funds as well as annual club dues. I'm confident 2017 will be another great year for Corvette Express. Let us continue our efforts to grow in membership, prosperity, and knowledge and remain the premier Corvette club of NJ. Thanks again, and I ll see you all at the next meeting, Wed. Jan. 4th. Yours in Corvettes, Rob Lombardi Greetings, and welcome to the January, 2017 issue of Corvette Expressions! I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays. As usual, they went by much too quickly. A big thanks to Linda Fernandez for organizing a fun evening on December 10. Club members enjoyed dinner at Old Man Rafferty s in Hillsborough, and then attended a radio show version of the classic, It s a Wonderful Life at the Somerset Valley Playhouse. The holiday party is fast approaching; January 14 to be exact. The fun begins at 7:00pm at Yesterday s restaurant in Hazlet. Make sure you check the activities listings each month as new events/cruises/trips may be added. The activities committee now has three overnight trips planned - one in June, another in July, and one in November. Finally, if there s anything new or exciting that you would like to share with the club on the Happenings page, please send me the information and /or pictures. Wishing everyone a healthy, happy, and absolutely fabulous New Year! See you at the next meeting! Lisa Force -2-

A Corvette Christmas Contributed by Bob Pinto Twas the night before Christmas and in the garage, There wasn t a trace of a Porche, Ferrari, or Dodge, The presents were wrapped and the lights were all lit, So I figured I d mess with the Corvette for just a bit. I popped the release and lifted the hood, Then a deep voice behind me said Looks pretty good! Well as you can imagine, I turned mighty quick, And there by the workbench stood good Ole Saint Nick, We faced each other not sure what to say, When Santa said, Don t suppose you d trade for my sleigh? I said No way, Santa! and started to grin, But if you ve to the time, we ll go for a spin, His little round mouth, all tied up like a bow, Turned into a smile as he said Hey, let s go! So as not to disturb all the neighbors retreat, We pushed her quietly into the street. Then taking our place to drift down the hill, I switch on the key and let the clutch spill, The sound that erupted took him by surprise, He liked it a lot by the look in his eyes. With GoodYears screamin and exhaust aglow, We herded out where the hot rodders go, Santa s grin widened, approaching his ears, With every up-shift as I climbed through the gears. As we closed on 160 Santa yelled, I feel so alive! So I backed of the gas and said, Wanna drive? Ole Santa was stunned when I passed him the keys, As he walks past the headlights, he shook at the knees. The engine exploded with a thunderous sound, As he dumped the clutch, tires clawed for the ground, Power shift to second and again into third, I sat there in awe at a loss for words. Then I hear him exclaim as we blasted out of sight, Merry Christmas to all on one Hell of a night. -8-
