The 2011 Tournament Calendar August 28 th Victorian Junior Teams Championships U11/13/15/17/23 MSAC September 18 th Ballarat Junior U13/17 Selection event for both Vic U13 & 17 Teams 2012 Ballarat September 25 th Victorian Junior Regional Teams Championships U11/13/15/17/23 MSAC September 27 th WSBA Wild West Junior Tournament entries available Altona October 2 8 Val Nesbitt U15 Carnival includes the U15 National Titles Perth October 22/23 Altona Junior Open U13/U17 Selection event-vic U13 & 17 Teams 2012 Altona November 5 th & 6 th Victorian U13 Titles Selection event for Vic U13 Teams 2012 MSAC Tournament Entries Please continue to enter tournaments through Michelle so we can keep a track on travel requirements and coaches for squad players at these events. Victorian Team Selection 2011 / 2012 To be eligible for Victorian Team selection in any age group for 2011/12 it will be mandatory for players to compete in the Victorian Titles of the age group they wish to be considered for. There will be four selection events in each age group players must compete in at least three of the four events REMEMBER State Titles are mandatory. Representative Teams & Tournament Participation Victorian Open & Graded MSAC - July 2 3 WSBA had five players enter this tournament. David Cutroni and Jacob McNally made semi finals of the B Grade mens doubles well done boys. U19 Australian Junior Closed Championships 2011 July 9 th 16th WSBA players competing in this event had a great run! Eric Vuong (not seeded in this event) made semi finals of the boys doubles and in the mixed doubles Eric and Jen Trinh played extremely well to knock out the 5 / 8 seed to make quarter finals. These two players will be ones to watch next year and in deed the year after at this event. David Cutroni and Jacob McNally also travelled to Sydney to compete in the Australian U19 Closed Championships and a well worth while trip this ended up for these two keen players who took out the boys doubles plate event defeating some very good pairs on the way to the finals. JT Ultra Open and Graded July 16 th 17th Tegan Berry was the only WSBA player to enter this event and a good weekend it was with Tegan finishing r/up in the A grade ladies singles and ladies doubles. Well done Tegan U15 State Titles - July 23/24 MSAC WSBA player claims another State Title Congratulations Shaun!!!! Thirteen WSBA squad players entered this event. It was most pleasing to see our newer members having a go and with results that show WSBA will have a strong line up in this age group again in 2012. This event was the first to see the new age requirement applied for junior tournaments allowing players who are under the age on the day to compete. WSBA featured in three of the five finals with Shaun Matthews taking out the Victorian

Boys Singles Title in fine form beating his opponent in the final in straight sets. Other standout performances are as follows Shaun Matthews winner boys singles, r/up mixed doubles and semi finals boys doubles Rudy Rigg r/up girls doubles and mixed doubles Lily Rigg r/up girls doubles Sonny Li semi finals boys singles Ernest Yam semi finals boys doubles Calvin Hua-Ching semi finals boys doubles Coaches who attended Saturday Jean, Michelle & John. Sunday Jean & Michelle VJB Junior State Pennant 2011 - July 30 th MSAC The WSBA Teams all had a great day with the WSBA Gold Team winning the A Grade and the WSBA B Grade Team were runners in this grade. The WSBA Blue Team in the A section also had some great results. Thank you to the coaches and parent / team managers and a special thanks to Pat who stepped in to run the event at the last minute well done all! WBSA JUNIOR STATE PENNANT TEAMS 2011 Badminton Victoria State Pennant League 2011 WSBA entered one team in the State Pennant Competition 2011. WSBA Team 2011 Tegan Berry David Cutroni Tarah Marney Jacob McNally Tien Tran Eric Vuong The first two rounds for this event commenced in July and rounds 3 & 4 were played earlier this month. While the WSBA Team has not yet won a tie the results have been very close in a couple of rounds. Well done to this young team playing in the Open ranks. BAV Junior Kilsyth - August 7th WSBA had ten squad members attend this event. The U11 s and 13 age groups had a great day at the office!!!
