The Seawolves posted back to back dual victories over Temple to highlight their final season in the Wells Fargo Sports Complex, and they posted a season high 192.200 score in their season finale at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federa on Championships. Sophomores Stefany Bryan and Simone Penker and freshmen Julia York and Kallie Randolph all earned All MPSF accolades, while Bryan became the 13th gymnast in program history to qualify for the NCAA Div. I West Regional Championships. SEASON HIGH AT MPSFs: The Seawolves closed their 2014 campaign with a season high score Mar. 22 at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federa on Championships at UC Davis despite finishing 6th place, UAA scored 192.200 points the 9th best total in program history thanks to nice showings on uneven bars and vault the Seawolves topped their previous best of 190.325 thanks to a furious finish on uneven bars, tying the third best performance in program history Cook at 48.400 sophomore Stefany Bryan (9.725) and junior Morgan Cook (9.675) both set career highs on bars, while sophomore Marie Sophie Boggasch tallied a season best 9.7 on vault, UAA earned the No. 14 total in program history with 48.350 points, led by season highs from redshirt freshman Julia York (team season best 9.775) and Boggasch (9.725) freshman Kelsy Konkright added the best vault of her young career with a 9.675 on balance beam they narrowly missed a season high with 47.325 points, led by freshman Nicole Larkin s personal best 9.65 on floor, UAA missed its best night of 2014 by only 0.050, finishing with a 48.125 score. Cook flipped to a career and team season best 9.8, and sophomore Simone Penker chipped in with a career high 9.65 Cook earned the team s highest placing of the night, tying for 6th on floor. BRYAN MAKES REGIONALS, TABBED MVP: Sophomore Stefany Bryan was named the team s 2014 MVP on Apr. 23 when the Seawolves celebrated with their year end banquet Bryan was an NCAA Div. FOUR TABBED ALL CONFERENCE: Four Seawolf gymnasts grabbed spots on the MPSF s 2014 Women s Gymnas cs All Conference Team, determined by the top regional qualifying scores (RQS) among the league s gymnasts sophomore Stefany Bryan captured all league accolades in the all around with a 37.800 RQS, while also pos ng UAA s top mark on uneven bars at 9.660 Bryan was joined by three teammates as first me All MPSF honorees, along Randolph with freshman Kallie Randolph on floor exercise (9.705), sophomore Simone Penker on balance beam (9.645), and redshirt freshman Julia York on vault (9.645). GYMNAST NOTES: A er being limited by an ankle sprain for four straight meets, junior captain Morgan Cook has returned to the all around in UAA s last two regular season compe ons, topping the 38 point mark each me with a season average of 38.025, the Arkansas na ve ed for 10th on UAA s all me list (min. 4 meets), while her 9.609 average on beam ranked 5th and her 9.622 average on floor was 15th Cook ed for team high honors in 2014 York with four individual event victories sophomore Stefany Bryan stepped into the spotlight as one of UAA s most consistent performers, earning an NCAA West Regional individual all around berth and Team MVP honors the Sea le na ve topped out with a career high 38.475 all around against UC Davis on Feb. 16 and also set a career high on bars with a 9.75 on UAA s season average lists, Bryan ranked 22nd in the all around (37.548) and 10th on bars Larkin (9.584) on UAA s other season average lists, freshman Kallie Randolph ranked No. 5 all me with her 9.682 mark on floor, freshman Julia York was No. 12 on vault at 9.643, and freshman Nicole Larkin ed for No. 16 on bars at 9.536 Randolph equaled Cook with four all around victories all on floor exercise. SMART(EST) SEAWOLVES: Five Alaska Anchorage gymnasts were honored for their classroom success on the Mountain Pacific Sports Federa on s 2014 Women s Gymnas cs All Academic Team sophomores Marie Sophie Boggasch and Simone Penker were two of just three MPSF gymnasts to carry perfect 4.00 overall grade point averages, along with Sacramento State junior Dallas Smith Boggasch, a vault and bars specialist from Schwarzenbach am Wald, Germany, is an avia on technology major, while Penker, a 3 event performer from Maria Saal, Austria, is a natural sciences major the European duo was joined on the team by fellow sophomores Stefany Bryan (3.77, English, Sea le/roosevelt HS) and Nicole Wetzel (3.75, psychology/keller, Texas), and junior captain Morgan Cook (3.06, psychology, Hot Springs, Ark./Lakeside HS) to be eligible, a student athlete must carry a 3.0 or be er cumula ve GPA, be in at least her second season, and compete in at least 50 percent of meets. Penker Boggasch HEAD COACH PAUL STOKLOS: The only coach in the 30 year history of the UAA gymnas cs program, Paul Stoklos is the two me MPSF Coach of the Year, capturing the honor outright in 2004 and sharing it in 2005. A er founding the Seawolf program in 1985, Stoklos has produced 37 Academic All Americans.
