Cadet InKart Round 3 5 th March 2017 By Peter Lamb First win for Luzio! Not a spare kart seat for Round 3 as Tamworth s InKart Championships go from strength to strength Heat 1 Following his success in round 3 all eyes are on Luzio on second place of the grid. With the rain still beating down the red light goes out and we are off with a full days worth of racing. Tyler gets a great start with Luzio tucking in behind. Marie- Lainchbury makes a bold move at 5 and makes it stick up into 2 nd. Luzio regains 2nd at Turn 10 where Wilson and Marie-Lainchbury come together with Marie-Lainchbury coming off worse and ending up last. Borton, after spinning on the first lap, has recovered well and is now back with the pack holding 4 th. 2 laps from the end Tyler is a corner ahead, but clearly relaxes too much and spins at 10. Luzio takes the lead and Tyler is forced to defend from Wilson. Luzio takes the first win of the day with Tyler and Wilson in 2 nd and 3 rd. Heat 2 Wilson is on pole for heat 2 with new face Jon Kain in 2 nd. All away clean but 3 a breast round turn 3 is too many under these conditions and the 4 first karts come together. Dawson, Gould, Halle-Hinxman and Will Kain take advantage and go through. Gould takes Halle-Hinxman for 2 nd at turn 9 taking a wide but clearly grippy line and by 10 he makes it stick. Dawson is clearly on pace today and puts in the fastest lap of the day with a 1:19.4. An unusual mistake from Gould costs him second place and Wilson capitalises. Dawson holds out for the win followed by an under pressure Wilson and Gould. Heat 3 From pole position Dawson disappears down the road, he s clearly finding the conditions preferable. Swain carries too much speed into the esses and cuts the grass, leaving him in last place. The rest of the field are playing in cautious and have clearly learnt that keeping it on the track today is the best way to win. Jackson takes too much speed into turn 3 and buries the kart in the safety barrier. A Red Flag is called by the marshals and the race is stopped. Luckily he was just winded and the race continues. Dawson with a 4- corner lead takes the chequered flag. Stanley and Kafaie kept their nose clean and finish in 2 nd and 3 rd. Heat 4 Borton leads the field into the first lap. Marie-Lainchbury gets a great start and pounces on Gould through turn 2. Cole makes up two places in lap one and starts hunting for the leaders. Turn 2 sees a mistake from Davies which catches out the drivers behind causing a collision. The race is stopped. Davies is okay to continue and the race restarts. At the front Gould has got past Borton for 1 st with Cole in the hunt for 2 nd. Fantastic driving through the closing few laps by Borton to hold off Cole for 2 nd. Gould takes the win. Heat 5 Kafaie starts heat 5 and is under pressure from the pack through the esses. 5 karts come together as the rain starts to pour again. After the incident Luzio, Wilson and Kafaie are in the lead with Tyler in hot pursuit. There s an incident at turn 11 with W Kain coming out badly losing two places. Tyler takes Kafaie at turn 5. A black flag is called on Stanley, as he couldn t brake at turn 5 causing Kafaie to spin. Luzio take his second win of the day. Wilson seems to always be the bridesmaid today as he finishes 2 nd but the solid points should see him well set for the A final. Heat 6 Purbrick starts us off in heat 6 and is immediately under pressure from the chasing karts. Gould and Cole work together to apply pressure to Stewart who makes a mistake at 6 and lets them both through. Cole and Gould start to chase the race leader. Purbrick holds out valiantly until lap 3 but then makes a mistake at 9 and gets caught on the tyres. Although the marshals were quick to react, Purbrick ends up in last place. Cole is holding the lead from Gould but is under massive pressure from Gould. Gould finally finds his way passed Cole at turn 3 and holds out for the win. Cole in second and Tyler finds a way passed Stewart to secure third. Heat 7 Halle-Hinxman holds his position into lap one, but is under pressure from Vickers and Dawson. Lots of jostling for positions at the front. With Kafaie leading Marie-Lainchbury, Wain and Johnson in the chasing pack. There s a coming together at turn 4 and the race

is stopped. The front 4 drivers miss the reds for a corner and under race directors instructions are pushed back. The Incident is cleared and the race continues but Johnson and Marie-Lainchbury are half a lap down. Dawson finds himself in the lead coming into the last lap. But a mistake at the hairpin lets Vickers and Halle-Hinxman through. Vickers punches the air through chequered he s clearly delighted with that result. Heat 8 Cole shoots off the line from fourth and by turn 5 he s up to first, taking Kirkby, Jackson and Kain. Luzio finds his way up to 3 rd into lap 2. Jackson tried to keep on Coles coat tails but is having to defend from Halle- Hinxman and Luzio. Luzio finds a way passed Jackson but Cole is already 4 corners ahead. Cole takes home a comfortable win, with Luzio in a clear second and Jackson defending from Halle- Hinxman for third. Heat 9 Davies starts the race and holds his position into the first lap. Stewart seems to find some amazing pace as the track is drying out. Stewart pounces on Kirkby and Vickers while they battle each other. Davies is under pressure from Borton, spinning at turn 9. Vickers, Kirkby and Borton collide with Davies. The race is stopped to check on Davies. After the restart Stewart stretches his lead out and holds out for the win. Stewart made some great moves during the turbulent race to go from last to first. Johnson holds on for second with Vickers in third. Kirkby aims to get into the with a strong start to the race. The Kain twins get in a battle with each other during lap two, but J Kain makes a mistake at turn 3 and ends up in the tyres. Kirkby extends his lead at the front as Marie- Lainchbury defends from W Kain. Swain and Davies are battling at the rear. Marie-Lainchbury holds on for second but Kirkby has a comfortable win and qualifies for the. Johnson to go sideways. Borton who s finding real form today shows great pace during lap one and is putting Tyler and Halle-Hinxman under pressure at the front. It s close at the front with Halle-Hinxman and Tyler battling for 1 st. It s the last lap and there s a coming together between them. A black flag is called on Halle-Hinxman as he takes the win. Tyler goes through to the A final. After reviewing the footage, the Race Director believes the incident was 50/50, so awards both drivers a drive at the back of the and the black flag is rescinded. The A final s underway with Luzio leading the pack. Gould pounces on Dawson at the start and makes a move though the esses up to second. Wilson, Cole and Dawson continue to trade places for 3 rd place as Luzio and Gould stretch out a lead. Cole gets his nose in front of Dawson and Wilson and is chasing down Gould. Luzio looks composed under the pressure and the difficult conditions. Gould is right on his tail but can t find a way past. Carrying too much speed into turn 11, Gould spins out and Cole pounces. Luzio keeps his composure and there is a huge roar from the crowd as he takes his first win of the season. Cole in second and Gould in third. Wilson misses out on the podium by 1.1secs. Results 1. Ethan Kirkby 2. Dale Marie-Lainchbury 3. Will Kain 1. Samuel Halle-Hinxman 2. Lewis Tyler 3. Alex Jackson 1. Marcus Luzio 2. Sam Cole 3. Danny Gould The rain has stopped and the track seems to have more grip. Into turn 1 and Tyler gets his nose in front, but there is a coming together at the back as both drivers refuse to give an inch, causing Stanley and

Junior InKart Round 3 5 th March 2017 By Peter Lamb Taylor on top again! Robert Taylor was once again on fine form to qualify for the Final grid at the front, and was hoping to walk away with maximum points. Could anyone stop him? Heat 1 Max Cole starts the day off at the front of the grid. He gets his nose out in front and holds the lead comfortably as the rest of the pack battle for 3 rd to 6 th. Fitzpatrick misjudges the grip on turn 3 and spins out Palmowski, he is black flagged for advantage by contact. Lee-Davis has moved through the incident and is up to 3 rd. Lee-Davis finds a good amount of grip round turn 4 on lap 4 and takes 2 nd. Cole has built a small lead but Lee-Davis is the fastest driver on track and is closing fast. Palmowski has recovered well and is putting Marriott under pressure for 3 rd. Cole holds out for the win, with Lee-Davis a close 2 nd and Marriott holds out for 3 rd. Heat 2 Taylor leads out the second heat and creates a gap by lap 2. Dunford and Manton find their way from the back of the grid to midpack. Lee-Davis and Williams hold each other up as they try to battle for 3 rd. Dunford squeezes past Williams and Lee-Davis through 3 and 4 up to 2 nd position. Manton and Lee-Davis are in a great battle for 4 th. Taylor has comfortable win out in front with Dunford and Williams 2 nd and 3 rd. Heat 3 Summerill gets a great start as Gould defends 2 nd from Manton, Davis and Taylor. Taylor finds a way past Manton and is up to 2 nd. Gould keeps his nose clean and is in a race by himself. Summerill defends excellently and holds out for 3 rd. Taylor runs out of time to chase down Gould and settles for 2 nd. Heat 4 Dunford starts the race off but gets out of shape through turn 2 and loses time across the grass. The off at 2 has effected Dunford s kart and the chains is off by 4. Cole has capitalised and got around Williams and Alman. Gould is battling with Marriott though lap 2. Marriott underestimates the grip round 5 and takes out Gould causing him to spin. A Black flag is issued to Marriott for advantage by contact. Cole has an 8 seconds lead into the final lap. Williams and Marriott takes 2 nd and 3 rd. Heat 5 Davis is on pole but gets caught through 4 by Palmowski. Davis protects his 2 nd place through 5 and 6 as Palmowski extends her lead at the front. Whitbread makes a mistake and finds himself with Summerill at the back of the field. Summerill spins under pressure from Whitbread and finds himself half a lap down after the marshals recover him. Whipday and Gould work together to force Davis into a mistake and take 2 nd and 3 rd. As the chequered flag goes out Palmowski holds out for the win, with Gould in 2 nd with Whipday in 3 rd. Heat 6 The heats start and there s nothing between any of the drivers. The Race Director calls for no contact boards for everyone. Green and Whitbread get caught by Cole, Lee-Davis and Dunford. Dunford finds some amazing pace round turn 3 and takes Lee-Davis and Cole, someone forgot to tell him it was raining! Davis is passed Green and Whitbread up to 4 th. Lee-Davis gets too much contact at 5 and is black flagged as he spins Alman. Dunford holds out for the win with Cole 2 nd and Lee-Davis 3 rd. Heat 7 With the track drying out the condition prove to be tricky with grip changing at each corner. Whipday finds some grip round 4, 5 & 6 and find himself up to 1 st. Fitzpatrick loses control round turn 11 and ends up under the tyre wall. The race is stopped while the marshals recover the driver. He s okay but finds himself in last place. Taylor is up from last to second as he finds a way passed Manton at the hairpin. Whipday holds out for the win with Taylor and Manton 2 nd and 3 rd. Lee-Davis finds himself at the front of the C final and gets a terrific getaway leaving the rest of the field miles behind. Rain is starting to come down again and it catches out Marriott who spins but recovers well. The field space out as most are focusing on keeping the kart on the track. Fitzpatrick loses the back end at 9 but holds it excellently and only loses a few seconds. Another spinner, this time its Whitbread! Lee- Davis is miles ahead with a good 20 second lead into the last lap. Now it s Summerill s time to spin out

losing time but not any positions. Lee-Davis keeps his cool and brings it home for a comfortable 1 st. Green who focused on keeping it on track ended the race in 2 nd with Fitzpatrick in 3 rd. The rain continues to be heavy. Palmowski seems to be coping well with the conditions pounces on Williams into turn 1 and holds her lead through lap 1. Great battle between Manton and Alman racing wheel to wheel. Davis spins out and has heavy contact from Williams, but a thumbs up from the marshals and they both continue racing. Lee-Davis has worked his way up to 3 rd and is clearly the quickest driver out on track. Palmowski holds her lead to take the win, Williams in 2 nd and Lee- Davis just ran out of time to make a move, settling for 3 rd. Cole starts the race and is immediately under pressure from Taylor, Gould and Dunford. Cole is driving very defensively and is backing up the pack. Taylor gets too much contact at the hairpin and is close to getting a black flag but drops to fifth to allow Dunford back through, very wise racing from Taylor. Although the mistake has cost them both time they are back in the hunt very quickly. Cole makes an unusual mistake and lets Whipday through. Palmowski takes a bit too much speed into turn 9 and loses the back end. The sun has split the clouds and is drying the track nicely. Taylor has found a way past Dunford and is in the hunt for Whipday in 1 st. Gould takes an unusual line to defend against Cole and ends up facing the wrong way. 1 lap to go and Taylor eases passed Whipday at the hairpin, both drivers refusing to give an inch with a bit of contact but looks fair. Taylor takes the win with Whipday and Dunford in 2 nd and 3 rd. Results 1. Thomas Lee-Davis 2. William Green 3. Owen Fitzpatrick 1. Alisha Palmowski 2. Joe Williams 3. Thomas Lee-Davis 1. Robert Taylor 2. Alex Whipday 3. Kyle Dunford

Senior InKart Round 3 5 th March 2017 By Peter Lamb 2 nd victory for the Spencers! The track is cold and wet and with a full grid of drivers, today s race is bound to be exciting. With the warm up done, it s time for super pole Super Pole Qualifying Super Pole First group go out and Matthew Spencer finds himself in first place with a 1.16.073. The circuit is proving a handful with no one getting close to Spencer s Pole time. The trend continues into the second SP session, with no one looking like troubling M Spencer for Pole position. The last kart approaches the chequered flag... and it s Andy Spencer with 1.16.010 to take pole!! Here s how the top 20 line up Senior Lights Podium Heat 1 28 karts ready to go... The all clear from start finish marshal and a huge roar of karts head into turn 1. Greenfield ends up in tyre wall in the traffic. Schnitzler has moved up the pack and capitalised on the chaos at 6 and is up to P6 after starting in 18 th! Grinnell finds the grass at 7 and finds himself dead last. M Spencer makes a move on his brother and makes it stick round 10, but A Spencer is not done. The start marshal reminds the drivers of contact as there is lots of bumping. Watts spins out at the hairpin and Cook ends up losing places avoiding the contact. A Spencer makes a move on M Spencer and regains the lead. M Spencer defends hard against Schnitzler letting A Spencer pull out a lead. A. Spencer holds out for the win, with M Spencer defending his 2 nd from Schnitzler. Collins and Stansfield are in 4 th and 5 th. Heat 2 The crowd holds their breath everyone is through 2-3-4 and 5... but as some drivers try and make their way up through 6 there s contact. Woodman gets it wrong at 6, the off-camber corner clearly catching him out costing him the lead. Schnitzler is holding the lead but is now under pressure from Senior Heavies Podium Stewart and Swain. A Spencer from the back of the grid is in 12 th after the first lap. Studd spins at the hairpin and is so keen to get back in the race pulls out into traffic, a Black flag for dangerous driving is given. Fawdry gets pushed wide at on the outside of 6 and end up on the grass but recovers quickly. Jenkinson dives up the inside of Bromley but there s not enough space and is given a black flag. Last few laps, Cotton puts a tyre on the grass at 9 and ends up doughnuting, very spectacular but not useful for racing!! A Spencer

has manged to fight his way up to 2 nd using a very wide line at turn 5 to take two places at once! Schnitzler defends his lead hard from a pack of 4 drivers! Stewart seems to be holding up the pack but is driving very defensively, letting A Spencer pursue Schnitzler on his own. Into the last lap, A Spencer finds a way passed Schnitzler to take the win! Stewart holds out for 3 rd, Collins is in 4 th, with M Spencer and Swain in 5 and 6 th. Here s how they finished Final Final race of the day. The fields splits into two with 5 front runners finding grip and speed. Leading is A Spencer, with M spencer a close second. Schnitzler, Stansfield, Guy, Studd and Wade all pulling ahead out front. There s a great battle at the front of the chasing pack between Swain and Stewart, if they had put in a better qualifying times these two would surely be in the front running. A Spencer is carving out a useful lead, letting the pack behind fight between themselves. An amazing race between Schnitzler and M Spencer for 2 nd (and the Heavy win), these two have been equalling each other s pace all day. There s an incident at turn 7, someone lost grip and has gone sideways causing the chasing pack to take evasive manoeuvres. Guy gets it wrong at 4 bursting through a tyre wall, appearing on the outside of 6! He keeps his toe in and continues racing rather than allowing the drivers back through, and receives a black flag as he gained 4 places! The marshals are quick to repair the wall. The black flag is given after the race as it needed to be confirmed with the observers during the last few laps of the race. The chequered is out and A Spencer takes the Lights win with Stansfield and Wade in 2 nd and 3 rd. M Spencer and Schnitzler takes 2 nd and 3 rd in the race but confirm 1 st and 2 nd in the Heavy class. Studd takes 3 rd. Fantastic race by the seniors and excellent discipline in the poor conditions! Final Results Lights 1. Andy Spencer 2. Simon Stansfield 3. Demetri Wade Heavies 1. Matthew Spencer 2. Lee Schnitzler 3. Paul Studd
