Cadet InKart Round 4 2 nd April 2017 By Peter Lamb Gould returns to form! After Marcus Luzio claimed victory at Round 3, Gould was keen to make amends. Could anyone stop him taking the win? Heat 1 The sun is out, the air is cool as the first heat of the day lines up. Cole is on pole position, with Gould in 2 nd and Lainchbury in 3 rd. And they re off, Gould gets off to a slow start as he misses the lights. Cole holds off Lainchbury but loses too much time defending. Gould makes a move up the inside into 4. Wilson is up to 3 rd, as he gets passed Lainchbury. Munro has made his way up from last on the grid to 4 th. Putting pressure on Lainchbury. Cole is trying to hold onto Gould but Gould is slowly edging out a lead. Wilson has caught up to Cole and is applying pressure. Into the last lap, Wilson makes an amazing move round turn 6 to grab second place. Chequered flag is out, Gould first, followed by Wilson and Cole. Heat 2 Clean start to the race, Wilson gets his nose in front from pole. Munro is close on his heels through 4 and 5, but Wilson is defending well. W Kain has lost a few places into the 2 nd lap but is now having a great battle with Jackson. Wilson has a steady pace at the front and Munro is struggling to catch up, clearly distracted by defending his position from Dawson. Munro goes wide at 6 and Dawson makes the move stick through 7. Into the last lap, Wilson has kept his head and takes chequered. Munro goes too quick into the hairpin and slides out wide colliding with Dawson and taking his place. Advantage by contact is called by the track team and a post-race penalty is awarded to Munro. Stewart finishes ahead of Purbrick after a terrific battle for 4 th. Heat 3 Dawson gets a great start from pole position, Munro pounces on Davies in 2 nd taking his position by the 3 rd corner. Luzio follows Munro through and is up to 3 rd. Davies makes a mistake and Halle-Hinxman and Vickers dive through, not a great start to Davies race day but this is only his first heat. Dawson and Munro are battling again at the front, Dawson goes wide round 6 and Munro takes the lead! Dawson get the position back at the hairpin, nothing to split between these two drivers. Munro makes a bold move into 4 and gets an excellent run out of the turn and into 5 he takes 1 st place. What a fantastic race, Munro is out of the hairpin clean and takes the chequered flag with his arms up in elation. Luzio takes 3 rd. Heat 4 Borton leads the field through lap 1, holding his position from Pole. Tyler has made his way past Lainchbury and Stewart and is up to 2 nd. Into lap two Borton is defending from Tyler who is clearly on pace today. Borton goes wide at turn 9 and lets Tyler into 1 st. The loss of pace at 9 has cost Borton dearly and Stewart and Lainchbury get past at the hairpin. Johnson gets it wrong at turn 4 and takes Borton out. Advantage by contact was due to be called on Johnson but he slows to a snail s pace to let Borton back through. What excellent maturity and sportsmanship from these young drivers. Tyler keeps his cool at the front and takes the win. Stewart continues to defend until the end from Lainchbury to take 2 nd. Heat 5 Gould, Wilson and Cole get a fantastic start and get up get ahead of the Kain brothers by Turn 1. Tyler makes a mistake at the back and spins at 5. Kafaie gets caught by Gould and Cole through turn 9. Gould holds the leads from Cole. Wilson is up to 3 rd at the hairpin. Cole gets an amazing run out of the Turn 11 and squeezes through at the hairpin. Cole holds the lead but is under pressure from Gould. Wilson is holding his 3 rd place by driving defensively, from J Kain. Gould finds a way past at 4 to take the lead but Cole takes a wide line round 5 giving him the inside line into 6 and wins back his place. Cole holds out for the win. Gould in second with Wilson in 3 rd. Cole and Gould shake hands down the straight, clearly both enjoying their close battle. Heat 6 Halle-Hinxman starts on Pole for heat 6, and while he keeps his lead through turn 3 the rest of the pack come together and Cole catches the outside tyre wall, costing him time but not putting him out of the race. Luzio finds his way into 4 th from last place by the 6 th corner. Luzio is on blistering pace and is cruising through the field. Up to 2 nd before the first lap is done. The small lead Halle-Hinxman has made in the first few laps is being closed down fast by Luzio. Stewart makes a great move on Geraghty to take 4 th. Luzio finds a way passed Halle-Hinxman at the hairpin. From last to first within 2 laps! Cole has recovered well and is back up to 4 th position. Luzio takes the win, Halle-Hinxman holds out for 2 nd and Stewart is in 3 rd.

Heat 7 Purbrick is on Pole and holds the lead through lap 1. Dawson and Lainchbury take advantage of a spin at the hairpin and find themselves in 3 rd and 4 th through the traffic. Purbrick is under pressure from Vickers who is closing him down. Into the 4 th lap and Vickers finds some pace through 9 and 10 and takes Purbrick by the hairpin. Dawson and Lainchbury are wheel to wheel round 4 but Dawson holds 3 rd place. Vickers holds the lead for his first heat win of the season. Purbrick in second and Dawson in 3 rd. Heat 8 Kirkby gets caught off the line by Luzio in 2 nd and is in 1 st by turn 3. Gould gets an amazing run on the outside of turn 4 and goes past Halle-Hinxman, Purbrick and Geraghty up to 3rd in one corner. Kain gets past Kirkby and is up to 2 nd place. Luzio is slowly pulling out a lead at the front but Gould has gone past Kirkby and Kain and is in pursuit. 2 Laps to go. Gould gets around Luzio on turn 4, but Luzio gets it back with a bold move round Turn 9. Two corners later the lead has changed again as Luzio goes a few inches off line at the hairpin and Gould pounces. Halle- Hinxman has made some fantastic moves to move from 6 th to 3 rd and picks up some good points. Kain who was on pace makes a mistake and spins costing him 3 places. Gould takes the win, with Luzio 2 nd and Halle-Hinxman 3 rd. Heat 9 Away from the line, a clean start to the final heat of the day. Ramnath goes wide at turn 3 and Tyler, Johnson and Vickers go through. Ramnath gets a knock from Vickers into turn 6, and ends up in last place. The Race Director calls advantage by contact and Vickers receives a black flag. Tyler has a 3 second lead at the front with all the karts spaced out. Tyler takes the win, with Jackson 2nd and Kirkby 3 rd. C Final Geraghty starts the C final off and is away clean, into Turn 4 he already has a 3-kart lead. Kain gets past Borton at Turn 4 and is up to 3 rd. Johnson gets his place taken by Kafaie round Turn 6. Kain is still in the mix and is putting pressure on 2 nd and 3 rd place. At the front, Geraghty has pulled out a 3 second lead and looks like he is cruising to the victory as the other drivers fight it out behind him. Borton makes a mistake at turn 6 and ends up in the tyre wall, he finds himself in last place and is clearly devastated. Davies and W Kain are having a great battle for 5 th. Whilst J Kain, Kafaie and Johnson are still fighting over 2 nd. As the chequered flag comes out Geraghty takes a comfortable win with J Kain and Kafaie coming in in 2 nd and 3 rd. Geraghty s arms are in the air and he punches the air in delight, he s earned himself a place on the grid for the B final. Halle-Hinxman starts at the front of the B final, narrowly missing the A final. He misses the lights by a fraction and Munro dives up the inside. By turn 3, Munro is comfortably in the lead. Purbrick has made up two places and finds himself in 4 th by lap 3. A three-way battle for 2 nd between Kirkby, Halle-Hinxman and Vickers, positions changing over and over, fantastic fair racing. Vickers and Halle-Hinxman come together at Turn 1, as neither wanted to yield the position but it is as seen as a racing incident. Halle-Hinxman comes out worse and loses a position to Purbrick. Munro holds out for the win and gets his way into the. Kirkby picks up good points in 2 nd and Vickers holds onto 3 rd. Gould is in Pole position with his Championship rival Luzio in 2 nd. Wilson has raced consistently all day and find himself in the 3 rd place on the grid. They are away, Tyler takes too much kerb into Turn 3 and takes out Wilson! Nothing malicious but that one mistake has wrecked Wilson s race day. Motorsport can be cruel sometimes. Cole, Dawson and Munro are in a fantastic battle for 3 rd. Gould is on a different planet and smashes his own lap record with a 1.04.060! After 4 laps he has a comfortable 4 second lead. Luzio has settled into his rhythm and is holding 2 nd comfortably. Cole, Dawson and Munro are still fighting for 3 rd. Dawson is defending hard against Cole but makes a mistake and lets him passed at Turn 10. Munro and Dawson are yet again in a close battle for 4 th, but looks like Dawson will hold it out. Gould takes the win for the day with Luzio picking up 2 nd and Cole taking 3 rd. Results C Final 1. Cian Geraghty 2. Jon Kain 3. Arian Kafaie 1. Daniel Munro 2. Ethan Kirkby 3. Jacob Vickers 1. Danny Gould 2. Marcus Luzio 3. Sam Cole

Junior InKart Round 4 2 nd April 2017 By Peter Lamb Manton wins after epic 3-way battle The Juniors Championship looks like it could go to any of a handful of drivers. Consistency will be key to end the season as Champion Heat 1 Fitzpatrick starts the day off on pole, Dunford and Lam are in 2 nd and 3 rd. Dunford gets a great start and is in 1 st place after Turn 1. Gould makes a move on Lam and is up to 2 nd. Gould takes the lead from Dunford at Turn 6. Dunford almost gets Gould back at the hairpin but Gould just has enough speed and closes the door at Turn 1. Green and Lam are in a great battle for 3 rd place. Fitzpatrick gets caught in 5 th by Alman and drops back to 6 th. Gould secures the win with Dunford 2 nd and Lam holding out for 3 rd. Heat 2 Davis is on Pole for the second race, and gets a great start. Leading from the front he has a healthy lead into lap two. Dutt gets a poor start off the line, Summerill and Williams pounce and take his place. Lam, Summerill and Williams are in a great tussle in 2 nd, holding each other up as Davis disappears down the road. Williams comes out on top and starts to creep comfortably ahead in 2 nd, leaving Summerill and Lam to fight over 3 rd. As the chequered flag goes out, Lam steals 3 rd place by 1 tenth of a second! Davis gets a comfortable win with Williams in second. Heat 3 Summerill starts heat 3, and Green immediately tries to make a move into Turn 1, there is contact but Summerill muscles Green out to hold the lead. Manton and Taylor get past Green in 3 rd and start to hunt down Summerill and Green. Manton and Taylor get passed Green. Palmowski with great pace gets passed Williams. Summerill loses two place at the hairpin and Manton and Taylor take 1 st and 2 nd. Green gives too much contact trying to get back passed Williams and is black flagged for contact. Manton takes the win with Taylor in hot pursuit in 2 nd. Summerill settles for 3 rd. Heat 4 Taylor starts Heat 4 and makes a great start into Turn 1 and through 3. Dunford finds himself in 2 nd as Alman goes wide round 4. Davis pulls a brilliant move on Alman through the hairpin and is up to 3 rd. Dunford is all over Taylor s exhaust and Taylor is driving very defensively. Dunford pulls a great move on Taylor round 3 and gets into 1 st, but Taylor is right on him. A lap later Taylor is in the lead as he makes a move round 6 and makes it stick. 1 lap to go, Dunford makes a move at the hairpin. Dunford drives defensively for the final lap and holds out for the win. Heat 5 Gould makes a great break off the line from Pole and finds himself 2 seconds clear after the first lap. Manton makes a move on Green and is up to 4 th. Green and Manton get round Whitbread as he makes a mistake at the hairpin. Alman tried to keep pace with Gould at the front, and although not catching him, his pace is keeping him ahead of Manton in 3 rd. Chequered flag comes out and Gould takes a comfortable win. With Alman and Manton in 2 nd and 3 rd. Heat 6 Palmowski gets a great start and holds the lead through the first lap. Gould makes a spectacular start from the back of the grid and finds himself in 2 nd by Turn 4. Lam, Williams, Dunford and Fitzpatrick are having a close race, switching positions and making moves for the duration of the heat. Gould has caught up to Palmowski and makes a dive down the inside of Turn 1. Gould stretches his lead out at the front as Palmowski gets caught by the chasing pack. Gould takes a comfortable win, Palmowski holds off the chasing pack for 2 nd and Lam wins the 4-way battle for 3 rd. Heat 7 Manton gets off the line okay but is under pressure from Palmowski in 2 nd. Taylor takes Dutt round 3 and makes a move on Palmowski at 4 and is up to 2 nd already! Davis is having a great battle with Palmowski and gets passed on lap two. Taylor gets a fantastic run out of the hairpin and squeezes Manton out through Turn 1. Dutt and Summerill are at the back but having a great individual race with each other. As the chequered flag comes out there is nothing to split 1 st and 2 nd, Manton gets a run on Taylor out of the hairpin, but there s not enough track to make it stick and Taylor edges out the win by 0.145 second gap to Manton. Palmowski gets 3 rd. Alman starts the B final off in pole position, and although he makes a good start, he takes too much speed into 4 and goes well wide.

Williams and Green find themselves in 1 st and 2 nd. Into the 2 nd lap and Green makes a move on Williams and is in 1 st place. Green and Williams pull out a small lead at the front, as Dutt, Alman and Summerill fight for 3 rd. Dutt pulls out a lead from Alman and is comfortably 3 rd. Williams is all over Green but Green keeps his cool and takes the chequered flag by 0.169 seconds!! Another few corners and Williams may have done it! But its Green in 1 st, Williams in 2 nd and Dutt in 3 rd. Green has earned himself a place in the A final with a fantastic race! Gould qualifies in Pole position after some consistent racing, Taylor and Manton are 2 nd and 3 rd. Green lights on and all 3 drivers get a great start, nothing to split between the drivers. Gould s under pressure and goes wide at turn 6. Manton and Taylor pounce and put Gould in 3 rd. Palmowski and Davis having a great race of their own in 4 th and 5 th. Manton makes a move on Taylor round the hairpin and squeezes passed though Turn 1. You d be pushed to put piece of paper between the karts as 0.2 seconds splits 3 places! Taylor is looking for Manton to make a mistake, Gould is being patient in 3 rd. For 8 laps the story is the same, the pace is the fastest we have ever seen, Manton breaking the lap record on the penultimate lap!! What a race!!! Final lap, the crowd holds its breath hoping no one does anything silly and ruin a great race! Manton edges out a win with Taylor and Gould in 2 nd and 3 rd. Possibly the greatest 3-way race ever seen in InKart at Tamworth! Results 1. William Green 2. Joe Williams 3. Reiss Dutt 1. Oliver Manton 2. Robert Taylor 3. Danny Gould

Senior InKart Round 4 2 nd April 2017 By Peter Lamb Andy Spencer steals the show! The Spencer brothers had made quite an impact since their arrival at R2. 2016 Heavy Champion was keen to taste victory again, but could anyone stop Andy in the Lights? Super Pole Qualifying Fawdry sets the pace in the first super pole with a 1:01.208, with Stansfield in 2 nd but with 2 more shoot outs to go will they hold their place. Goodwin steals first place with a time of 1.00.999. The final qualifying session comes out and we have some blistering laps. Swain puts in a 1.00.358 and grabs pole position, but with 3 more drivers to cross the line will he hold it? Collins takes 2 nd and A Spencer takes 3 rd with M Spencer in 4 th. Swain holds on to Pole position. Senior Lights Podium Here s how the Top 10 line up Heat 1 26 drivers ready to go, Swain holds the lead into turn 3. The crowd holds their breath as 26 karts go round the sweeping right hander two a breast. A bit of contact from pure congestion at turn 4, no bumping is given out by the Race Director to remind drivers of contact. Wade finds some pace after his poor performance in the qualifying and finds himself in up to 15 th. Nothing to split between Goodwin and Collins in 5 th and 6 th. Andy Spencer is breathing down Swains neck in lap two and finds a way passed Swain as he gets a great run up the hill into Turn 6. M Spencer is having to drive super defensibly from Fawdry, to protect his 3 rd place. Stansfield and Schnitzler are having close race in 7 th but looks like the light-weight Stansfield just has a better run out of corners and is keeping everyone behind him. Chequered flag comes out and although Swain tried to force A Spencer into a mistake he keeps his cool and takes the win. Swain settling for 2 nd and M Spencer in 3 rd. Heat 2 The grid is reversed; Holliday and Barratt are on the front row. Will they be able to defend their front row position with lots of quick drivers behind them? Rogers makes a move up the inside of Barratt all the way from 5 th. Great start from him. Holliday gets away clean, clearly hoping to keep his nose out of trouble and let everyone behind him fight amongst themselves. Darby has made great progress at the start of the race and is up to 6 th place from 14 th after 1 lap. There s an incident between 10 and the hairpin, drivers Senior Heavies Podium slowing to a crawl to avoid serious collisions. Fawdry and A Spencer make the most of the traffic jam and find a way through. They are both mid pack within 2 laps. Rogers is holding out at the front defending his position from Woodman and Cook. Summerill is making himself wide in 8 th and is holding back Fawdry, Swain and Stansfield. A Spencer again finds more pace round 5 and into 6 and finds himself in 5 th place! Holliday has been caught by the chasing pack and keeps getting picked off. Darby is up to 2 nd place and is hunting down Wade who has recently taken

first from Holliday. A Spencer finds a bit of clear air and is hunting down the leading pack. Cook and Welch are having a familiar battle with each other in 6 th place. Into the last lap A Spencer has caught up with the chasing pack and finds himself in 2 nd position. He puts a bold move on Wade round turn 4 and takes the lead. From 25 th to 1 st in 8 laps. What a drive! Wade is in 2 nd with Darby in 3 rd. Great result from Rogers who has driven very sensibly and defensively to hold onto 4 th. Here s how they finished Final The final starts and Fawdry and Swain are putting A Spencer under huge amounts of pressure. Fawdry finds himself in the lead into lap two. Swain is looking to take 2 nd from A Spencer. Darby, Collins and Wade are in the chasing pack, fighting over 4 th place. Fantastic racing. Nothing to split the top 3 drivers, but A Spencer find himself back in the lead, with an unusual mistake from Fawdry round Turn 7. Greenfield makes a mistake at the hairpin and finds himself near the back of the pack, such a shame as he has been on a steady pace all day. Swain makes a move on Fawdry and takes 2 nd place. Then sets the fastest lap of the day with a 1:00:172! Darby and Collins settle for 4 th and 5 th. A Spencer takes the win but only just, a few more laps and Swain would probably have had him. Fawdry in 3 rd. Fantastic racing, 1 st 2 nd and 3 rd place driver shakes hands through the esses, all clearly delighted to have a fantastic race. Final Results Lights 1. Andy Spencer 2. Jarrod Swain 3. Kurt Fawdry Heavies 1. Lee Schnitzler 2. Matthew Spencer 3. Ryan Welch
