The Parade was hosted by the Hong Kong Adventure Corps and the Parade Commander was our ex-swo Mr. Cheng. The Association was invited and we had sent our volunteers and J Corps Old Boys to join. Our contingent commander was Maj (Ret d) Leung Chun Chung and his morale was so high as same as he was the commander of the Home Guards Sqn in the parade in Wan Chai 20 years ago when the Regiment disbanded. It was also a coincident that the number of volunteers in our contingent was ninety nine. Although there was a heavy shower during the parade, it didn t hamper our spirit and performance. The public applauded to our company when we marched pass them. As usual we provide manning right from the starting point at Pak Tam Chung, Sai Kung till the finishing point at Tai Tong, Yuen Long with nine check points in 4
between, including as quarter master at Kau Wa Keng. The Volunteers maintain manning of the start and finish points, check points 1(jointly with HKAC), 8 and 9, water points 1 and 3, sweep teams and action and reaction teams; which resemble an annual assembly of our old friends after disbandment. The remaining check points are manned by: Police, Fire Services, Correctional Services, ICAC and Immigrations. Since last year Oxfam had a new arrangement by adding one early start at 0830 for the Super and 24-hour Teams, i.e. 5 starts all together; the latest start is at 1400 as past years. Furthermore there is a team of CEOs from varies enterprises joining the walk at 0930, though for a short distance of about 7 km around Pak Tam Chung only. Blessed with favourable weather throughout the event and good preparation by all parties concerned thus leading to the low dropout rate of walkers this year; 5113 walkers registered at the SP, 88% (4502) of individual walkers and 70% of full teams completed the whole course of 100km. Oxfam followed the route as it had been changed since 2009. Trailwalker is one of the toughest team challenges in the world. The first team was Team 2H2 (S53) at 11hrs 58mins, second. Champion System (S06) at 12hrs 21mins and third, S04) at 12hrs 52mins. Thanks to the concerted effort and hard work of the volunteers, the whole event runs smoothly and successfully. We should keep up the spirit of Trailwalker and look forward for more helping hands for years to come. 2015 12 09 Ex-Hon Col Guy Watkins visit The Ex-Hon Col Guy Watkins visited the Association on 09 December 2015 5
