1 5 T H A N N UA L IN SUPPORT OF ER REGIST NOW SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES Wednesday, September 5, 2018 Osprey Valley Golf Course #CCCGT2018
MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR CCCGT 2018 The Primary Beneficiary Thank You Another year circles round and here we are: time for the Caledon Council Community Golf Tournament! The primary beneficiary of proceeds this year is Caledon Area Families for Inclusion (CAFFI), a local parent organization that helps support families and their family members with intellectual or developmental disabilities. As you enjoy another wonderful day of golf, let me say a big thank you to all our dedicated volunteers who once again make things run smoothly. And of course a big shout out to the ownership and staff of Osprey Valley for letting us use their magnificent course. Congratulations are also due to Osprey for being selected as the only Canadian stop on the 2018 PGA MacKenzie Tour in July, right before the Canadian Open. Last year was an important milestone in the history of the tournament: we surpassed $1 million raised. A million thank you s! Your participation has helped fund dozens and dozens of worthy community projects, large and small. We are extremely fortunate to have the unwavering support of our corporate community. You have helped fund the large scale projects listed below, in addition to more than 150 hyper-local, Caledon projects. One of CAFFI s greatest challenges is affordable housing. It can be very difficult for these adults to find housing that allows them to stay in their home community where they are known, where they have family and where they have supportive connections. Proceeds from this year s tournament will go towards renovating 1 Cedar Mains, a heritage home at Hwy 50 and Old Church Road. CAFFI will use the home as supportive housing. Previous major projects from the road to $1 million raised 2017 Bolton Camp 2013 Headwaters Health Care Foundation 2016 Alton Legion 2012 Caledon Community Services 2015 Caledon Meals on Wheels 2011 Bethell Hospice I would be remiss, too, if I didn t take this opportunity and offer a special thank you to my Vice-Chair Doug Beffort who is retiring from Town Council. Since this Tournament s earliest days Doug has pitched in always with a smile and a laugh. Along with his wife Doreen they have formed a formidable twosome who have made a unique and lasting contribution. On behalf of the Golf Committe Vice-Chair, Doug Beffort, and all of my Council colleagues, thank you again for your generous participation and best wishes for another successful year! Johanna Downey, Chair Caledon Council Community Golf Tournament 2018
PROJECT SUMMARY: HELPING LOCAL FAMILIES IN NEED 1 Cedar Mains Dr The lion s share of proceeds from CCCGT 2018 will go towards the renovation of a heritage property for use as supportive housing by local families with adult children who have intellectual or development disabilities. The project will be led by Raising the Roof, a national charitable organization focusing on youth homelessness, and will focus on renovating 1 Cedar Mains Drive, a heritage property near Highway 50 and Old Church Road known locally as the Church House. Before Once renovated, the property which is on land owned by Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) -- will be turned over to Caledon Area Families for Inclusion (CAFFI), a local parent organization that helps support families and their family members with intellectual or developmental disabilities. This is the first project we are undertaking as part of our "Reside" program, a new program that repurposes existing vacant buildings for supportive affordable housing. And I can t think of a better recipient than CAFFI. Michael Braithwaite, CEO Raising the Roof After HWY 50 Cedar Maines Dr OLD CHURCH RD OLD CHURCH RD HWY 50 These adults currently do not have choices, enabling them to stay in their home community where they are known, have family, and have established connections. This project directly addresses the challenge of affordable housing. We are so grateful. Patricia Franks, Chair Caledon Area Families For Inclusion We re so excited to be part of this project. This is a fantastic opportunity to repurpose one of our assets for the betterment of an underserved segment of the community.
