www.highlandsranch.org www.quickscores.com/hrmd Introduction Dear Coach, Welcome to the Highlands Ranch Metro District Youth T-Ball/Baseball/Softball program. We are looking forward to an exciting season for our young players and coaches. Without your involvement and dedication, our youth programs would not be possible. As we strive to provide successful programs for our community s youth, your job as a youth coach becomes all the more important. Participation in athletics plays a valuable role in the development of children. Aspects of teamwork, dedication, discipline, physical fitness, self-esteem, and fair play all contribute to the overall growth and maturation of young people. The Highlands Ranch Metro District takes this responsibility seriously and strives to offer quality programs that will aid in this development. As a coach of a team, you are the most important element in providing the following goals for our youth: Provide an opportunity for growth and development. Provide basic fundamentals of the sport. Provide opportunity for fun and enjoyment. It s important to keep sight of these goals. We want to promote a feeling of self-worth in our young athletes and help develop positive attitudes and enjoyable experiences. We don t want our players or coaches to get caught up in the winning is everything attitude. More important than a winning season is the development of skills, promotion of self-worth, and an enjoyable experience while making new friends. Remember this motto: Kids First, Winning Second. Our quickscores/hrmd website has information about our program philosophies, coaching hints, and much more. This information is presented to serve as a reference for you, as a parent or coach, so you may understand the philosophies of the Highlands Ranch Metro District regarding youth athletics and do your part in making this program a success. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions to help make our program a success please don t hesitate to call. We hope you have a fulfilling season coaching and we thank you for your interest, time and dedication to the youth of our community. Sincerely, The Highlands Ranch Metro District Recreation Services Staff: Amber Garrett, CPRP - Recreation Coordinator Luke Ruter Recreation Coordinator Brenda Willcutt Recreation Assistant Courtney Harriman - Youth T-ball, Baseball & Girls Softball Supervisor Dave Parks Recreation Supervisor Carolyn Peters, CPRP Recreation Manager 4
