Introduction These instructions contain important information regarding safety. Please read the instructions carefully before the installation and usage of the filter. The filter is made to last for years with minimal maintenance required provided that the instructions regarding installation and usage have been followed. 2

Assembly and installation Preparation 1. Check if the packaging is in good condition 2. Carefully unpack the filter 3. Check if all the parts are present Filter body Pump Foot for the pump Connection hoses Valve and accessories to install Connections 4. Install the filter on horizontal soil. Make sure that you have enough space around the filter to execute maintenance easily. 5. Use sand of grain size: 0,4-0,8 mm 6. Check whether all internal parts are in good condition and are properly attached before you fill the body. 7. Fill half the body with water before you fill the filter with sand or glass bead in order to fill the body gradually. 8. When the body is filled with the right amount of sand or glass beads, the top part of the body has to be cleaned thoroughly at the level of the filter valve. 9. Make sure all parts are dry. Apply a little bit of grease to the sealing ring and attach the valve to the filter body. Attention! Air inside the filter body or a malfunction of the valve can damage the valve or the installation. 4
Place the valve in such a way that the hoses can be connected properly. Connect the filter to the pump and use Teflon for a proper seal. The filter body can rupture or explode at a pressure of 2 bar. The maximal operating pressure is around 1.5 bar. Therefore, never install a pump which puts more than 1.3 bar of pressure on the filter body. Switch off the pump if the pressure rises above 1.5 bar. Never place the valve on the outlet of the filter/pump installation. A closed valve can cause the filter to explode. Always keep chemicals at least 5 meters removed from the pump and filter. The chemical fumes of these products can rust the parts causing damage to the valve, pump and filter. The electrical installation of the pumps has to take place according to local standards. The distance between the swimming pool and the pump installation has to be at least 4 meters. For safety a 30 ma differential plug has to be present. The filter kit is used exclusively with swimming pools. This filter combination works under pressure. When it isn t assembled properly or if air is present in the filter circuits, serious injuries can be the result. Regularly check whether the valve and the pipes are in good condition. Never use this installation at pressure higher than 1.5 bar. 5
Installation 1. Assemble the body to the pedestal 2. Assemble the body to the foot of the pump
3. Glue the collector to the distributor. Take care to properly degrease and roughen the PVC before applying glue. Use a sufficient amount of glue. 4. Put the distributor inside the filter 1
5. Fill one half of the filter body with water. Then fill the other half with sand or glass beads without dropping sand or glass beads into the PVC-pipe. Make sure the PVC-pipe is still straight up. 6. Put the O-ring on the valve 7. Put the valve on the barrel 2
8. Fasten the valve with the clamp 3
9. Attach the pump to the foot 10. Fasten the pump 4
11. Glue the reduction of 50 mm to 38/32 mm to the suction connection of the pump. Take care to properly degrease and roughen the PVC before applying glue. Use a sufficient amount of glue. 12. Glue the reduction of 50 mm to 38-32 mm to the outlet connection of the pump. Take care to properly degrease and roughen the PVC before applying glue. Use a sufficient amount of glue. 5
13. Connect the outlet of the pump to the inlet of the filter 14. H The end result looks like this To gutter To swimming pool From swimming pool 6
Starting the filter kit 1. Clean the swimming pool before starting the kit 2. Check whether the filter body and the pre-filtration unit of the pump are filled with water. 3. Check whether the valve of the filter body is installed properly and make sure all air is out of the pump. 4. Switch off the pump and change the position of the valve (switch off the pump every time before you change the position of the valve). 5. Start the pump. 6. Filtration has begun. Check whether water is entering the swimming pool. 7
Maintenance The filtering plays an important part in the proper functioning of the swimming pool. The filter installation will last a long time if it is maintained correctly. Therefore respect following advice: If you want to perform labours inside the body, first remove the sand before removing the valve. The filter body operates under pressure. Never start working on the filter if it is still under pressure. Attention! A new filter can still contain fabrication impurities. It is recommended to clean the filter 48 hours after commissioning. Backwashing too often can decrease the filter installation Read the pressure off of the barometer. This upstart pressure is called the initial pressure. In most cases the initial pressure is between 0.4 and 1 bar. This pressure depends on the power of the pump, diameter of the filter body, length of the pipes, bends the pipes make and the cleanliness of the sand. The initial pressure can never be too low. If all your devices work and are connected correctly and your initial pressure is lower than 0.4 bar, you have provided a sublime installation. When? It is from deviations of the pressure that you can see when it is time to execute a backwash, replace the sand or adapt the installation. When the initial pressure has increased by 0.2 bar, it is time to execute a backwash. The increased pressure tells you that there is too much dirt in the filter. When the initial pressure is higher than 1.3 bar, you have to revise your installation. You then need a less powerful pump or a larger filter body. When the pressure suddenly decreases, there can be a problem with your pump or your sand being so old that it calcifies. That means your sand sticks together. More space can arise between the fragments of matted than between sand grains. In these open spaces the water experiences no resistance causing the pressure to decrease. In that case it is time to replace your sand. Sand has to be replaced every 4 years, glass beads every 6 years. 8
Backwashing 1. Stop the pump 2. Verify whether the conduits are not pinched or in a knot and put the valve in Backwash mode 3. Start the pump 4. Backwash the filter 2 to 3.5 minutes 5. Stop the pump and put the valve in Rinse mode 6. Start the pump and let it run for approximately 30 seconds 7. Stop the pump and put the valve on Filter 8. Restart the pump 9. The installation is now ready to do its job Winter-treatment In countries where the temperatures go below zero, it is necessary to perform a wintertreatment: 1. Backwash the filter 2. Stop the pump and put the valve on Closed 3. Open the purge valve beneath at the bottom of the body 4. Let all the water flow out of the filter body 9
Usage of the valve Filter Regularly check the pressure gauge. If your initial pressure has increased by 0.2 bar, it is time to backwash. Closed The valve is closed, communication with the pump is interrupted. You can now open the lid of the pre-filtration unit of the pump. Recirculation In this position the water doesn t pass through the filter body and flows directly to the swimming pool. Use this position when you have put products in the water, for a better distribution of the products. Backwash Thanks to the filter medium (sand or glass beads), impurities remain inside the filter body. The more impurities inside the body, the higher the pressure and the less well the water circulates. When your initial pressure has increased by 0.2 bar it is time to backwash. The contaminated water is drained to the gutter. First rinse the pump once again with the Rinse-mode before filtering again. Empty In this position the valve sends the swimming pool water directly to the gutter. This mode is used to empty the pool. Rinse fter every backwash it is important that the filter medium is compressed. Put the valve to Rinse and start the pump again for 1 minute. Thereafter, put the valve in the filter position and your installation is ready again for an efficient filtration of the swimming pool water. 10
FAQ Problem Cause Solution Flow too low The basket of the pump (pre- Clean the filter basket filtration unit) is full The pump runs in the reverse Check the conduits of the pump direction The system sucks too little water The pipes at the inlet are clogged or partially clogged Clean the pipes of the inlet of the pump The pressure quickly becomes too high during filtering The pressure changes too much The ph is too high (turbid water) Too little chlorine The pump draws air The suction valve is half closed Decrease the Ph. (add Ph. min) Add chlorine Check the density of the hydraulic connections Fully open the suction valve 11
