Looking forward to seeing everyone back, refreshed and ready for another great term on Tuesday 18 th April. St Kieran s Fete 2017 The applause and excitement by the students at assembly on Monday when our School Captains thanked the mums and dads for all their work preparing and working at the fete was like being at the MCG; and reflected the greatest indication of the amount of fun that was had by the children on top of the $7640 raised by the fete on Saturday. The staff and students are extremely grateful to all the parents who made the day possible especially Belinda Vella, Heather Hitchins and Kristy Walsh. A big thanks must also go to our local businesses who sponsored us to help pay for the rides. The day has produced some great writing with the rides, food, snow cones, fairy floss, hair spray and face painting featuring heavily in the writing samples.
Fete Writing from Grade 4s Oh my goodness Smell those delicious sausages sizzling on the BBQ at our school Fete for 2017.It was going to be a hot day and I couldn t wait for it to begin. We had lots of Mum s helping out on the delicious and yummy snacks stalls. We had Midi giving out the tickets to get your food, Kate Luke was in charge of the popcorn, Michelle Ella s Aunty was in charge of the Fairy Floss and it was so fluffy and delicious and Xavier Wilson s Mum helped out with the Snow Cones. It was interesting to watch her crush the ice with the machine. The flavours you could get were Raspberry, lime and orange. The Snow cones were really refreshing because they were cold and it was a very hot day.
After the Fete some families stayed back and helped pick up some rubbish and helped put some tables away back in the class rooms. The adults had a drink and the kids were stuck with Soft Drink but that was a bonus for us. At the end, Heather counted up the total of money that the whole school made at our Fete. The total was $8345! The parents and friends worked hard and it payed off..mr McKenna would like to build a new playground. I really enjoyed the Fete for 2017 and this Fete was the best in the history of St Kieran s! By Zalee THE FETE Dear Aaron, The fete was AMAZING there were rides and great activities. I went on all the rides including the jumping castles; my favourite ride was the chair-o-plane. There were some GREAT stalls. At the beauty stall I got my hair-spayed blue and purple. You could get your hair done, face-painted and get your nails done. There was so much GOOD food. There was a BBQ and some carnival food like popcorn and fairy-floss. The BBQ had sausages and baked spuds. All the stalls were run by parents they gave up their time for our school fete; mum was making DUTCH PANCAKES all day! I was with our whole family except you. It s sad that you had to play soccer but our school raised $8345 for a big sandpit. Maybe you can come next time. Love from Alaynna To dear Chelsey, Sunday was really good. I went to our school Fete! At the Fete there were lots of thing like, rides which included jumping castles, chair-o-plane and the cha-cha or called the Twist, oh and there was a smoke house. The rides and everything there made people feel happy it was AWESOME and young people and old people and ages in between could enjoy them all. The second thing that I enjoyed was the beauty stall. The beauty stall was really good. I got my nails done by Shirley Weir and got my hair sprayed all different colours by Carly Keys. Oh and by the way, I went with our cousins Grace and Sophie, Aunty Michelle, Uncle George, Cooper, Mum and Dad. To go on the rides as many times as you wanted you needed to get a wristband. The wristbands were yellow. Under my wristband my wrist was getting sweaty because it was a hot day. Our cousins got their face painted by Simon Vella. Sophie got a rainbow by Simon and grace got Minnie Mouse by Ms Vanbreugel. I got $50 to spend at the Fete! I spent all of my money, mostly on the food. This was delicious especially the Fairy floss. All the stalls were held by adults that put aside their time to come and help at the fete we are so lucky to have them. The total we raised was FANTASTIC! We raised $8,345 for a new big sandpit and a new playground. Yours sincerely Ella xo
WHAT S HAPPENING IN OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY Safety of St Kieran s Car Park Please make sure you enter and leave our school carpark at a safe speed for the safety of all our families. Please also remember to only park where there is a designated carpark bay. The drop off bays are for dropping off and picking up only. At home time I will put a big focus on children going straight to the carpark to avoid unnecessary queues. National Ride2School Day A HUGE thank you to the children and their parents for your amazing efforts decorating bikes/scooter and helmets and arranging to have your children ride or scoot to school last Friday! What a magnificent display we had! We even had a visit from a four legged variety of transport with Jade s beautiful pony Laddie. The morning was organised to celebrate Bicycle Network s National Ride2School Day and was also an excellent way to promote physical activity as part of our school s commitment to the Achievement Program. Thank you to Fr Harry and to Bicycle Victoria for their generous donations which were used as prizes for our parade..
Healthy Together Achievement Program Be Healthy Corner Our student Health and Wellbeing Captains, Mia and Griffin have been busy setting up a Be Healthy Corner display. St Kieran s is participating in the Healthy Together Achievement Program and Mia and Griffin have chosen different priority areas from the program for their display. In Terms 1 and 2 their focus will be on promoting healthy eating. The information gives students and their families some tips on healthy lunchboxes and the importance of drinking nonsugary drinks. The display is located on the multipurpose room windows for all to enjoy. Sporting Success at St Kieran s On Wednesday night Ethan Bush, Aaron Abuan, Xavier Battista, Bryson Savage and Bayden Heusmann won an Under 12s Basketball Grand final coached by Chris Savage. Congratulations Boys! Recently Ben Vincent was St Kieran s only representative at the Gippsland Swimming Championships. Ben swam a PB of 59.4 seconds for the Breaststroke. What an incredible swim!
