2A East Regional Basketball Tournament February 22-24, 2018 Eastern Wyoming College and Torrington High School To: Athletic Directors/Basketball Coaches From: Matt VandeBossche RE: Regional Basketball Tournament We at Niobrara County High School and Torrington High School are looking forward to hosting this year s regional basketball tournament. Enclosed you will find a copy of the bracket along with game times and other pertinent information about the tournament. This year we will be using 2 sites for the tournament; EWC and Torrington High School. All games on Thursday, February 22nd and Friday, February 23rd will be held at EWC. Games Saturday, February 24 th will be held at both facilities. By using both facilities on Saturday we are hoping teams can get home at an earlier time. Send a typed roster signed by your principal and also identify each person in the picture to Matt VandeBossche, PO Box 1050, Lusk, WY 82225. Please mail your roster and team picture by Thursday, February 8 th. You may email the information to me at vandebossm@lusk.k12.wy.us. The deadline for the information is February 12 th. Our Close-Up sponsor is taking care of creating the programs. Awards: Name plates will be awarded to teams finishing 1 st 4 th. Individual medals will be awarded to the member of the 2A East Regional Champions. All awards provided by the WHSAA. Bracket: Teams will be seeded according to the conference seeding. The 2A will use a 8 team bracket. Coaches please complete the Team Record Report Form and Fax or email to Matt VandeBossche by Monday, Feb. 19. Play in Game: If necessary, a pigtail game will be played on Monday at an agreed upon site with the winning team entering the tournament as the 4 th seed from its conference. Coaches Meeting: TBA Concessions: Concessions will be available throughout the tournament.
Designation of Teams: The team at the top of the bracket will be designated the home team and wear their light uniforms. The team at the bottom of the bracket will be the visiting team and wear their dark uniforms. Game Reports: We will report games to the WHSAA, Associated Press, Casper Star Tribune, WyoPreps, and the Rapid City Journal. Hospitality Room: The hospitality room will be available to coaches, officials, administrators, athletic directors, bus drivers, and tournament workers. Locker Rooms: Locker room assignments will be available on your arrival. There will be some overlap of teams in the locker rooms. For this reason, please make room for the team that will be coming in after you. We also ask that you leave no valuables in the locker room. Niobrara County High School will not be responsible for lost or stolen items. Official Book: Please give the scorer s table a copy of your tournament roster before your first game. This will be your official tournament roster. Please make sure all names and numbers are correct. As per WHSAA Rule 7.5.71 No more than twelve players can be in uniform for any tournament contest. The twelve players whose names are entered on the official scorebook for the first tournament contest, shall be the only players used for the entire tournament. Violations of this provision shall cause forfeiture as per WHSAA Rules 5.0.7 and 1.4.0 Officials: Officials will be provided by the WHSAA. Passes: Team packets can be picked up before your first game when you check in. They will include 12 player passes, 2 managers passes, 3 coaches passes, 3 passes for coaches spouses, and 1 bus driver pass. Cheerleader passes may be picked up at the site. If you do not have your pass you will not be admitted without paying. Starters for Public Address Announcer: Please complete the starters form included in the team packet for each game. Turn in this form to Public Address Announcer ten minutes before the game time and assist in pronunciation as needed. Spirit Signs: WHSAA rule 4.3.5 will be strictly enforced. Pep posters are not permitted inside the playing area. Only signs made of non-rigid materials such as Styrofoam, cloth, and paper are permitted. Signs may be no larger than can be held by one person. No additional sign or flag supports of rigid material such a wooden dowels, paint paddles, golf club shafts, etc. will be allowed. The large head posters are allowed. Make sure it does not interfere with other spectators view during live balls. Unusual noise at any activity that is created by fans or participants that would interfere with the competition or the enjoyment of all fans is prohibited.
Artificial noise makers are not allowed indoors. Small megaphones are considered noisemakers. Also thunder sticks and clappers are not allowed Bands: Bands will be allowed at the regional tournament. Criteria for bands playing at events held indoors are found in the WHSAA Handbook. If your school is planning to bring a pep band please notify me so we can make arrangements for the National Anthem. Bands are not allowed to play during live ball situations. Ticket Prices: These are set by the WHSAA. $5.00 Adult per session $4.00 Student per session $23.00 Adult all session pass $20.00 Student all session pass Warm-ups: There will be at least a 10 minute warm-up between games. Teams may enter the playing area when the floor is swept and the bench areas cleared. Valuables: Please secure valuables as we will NOT be responsible for lost or stolen items.
