THANK YOU FOR REGISTERING FOR BIKE MS! We re so glad you re joining us! To help you get ready for the ride of a lifetime, this Ride Guide has everything you need to know for a fun and successful Bike MS weekend. FUNDRAISING MINIMUM All cyclists must meet the $400 fundraising minimum before receiving their Rider Packet. Donate online or bring your donations to the Packet Pick-up. No need to stop there, though you can continue to fundraise until the December 31st deadline. PACKET PICK-UP PRE-EVENT PACKET PICK UP Saturday, Oct 13th at Performance Bicycle - Training ride meet up at 7 a.m., roll out at 7:30 a.m. Packet Pick Up from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Orange County: 2745 El Camino Real, Tustin, CA 92782 San Diego: 11675 Sorrento Valley Rd, San Diego, CA 92121 FRIDAY NIGHT PACKET PICK-UP October 19th Paul Martin s American Grill 534 Spectrum Center Dr., Irvine, CA 92618 Noon 8 p.m. Packet Pick up will be on the patio, which can be accessed through the main door which faces Spectrum Center Drive. There is a short term loading zone on Spectrum Center Drive, right outside the front door, that can be used for Accessibility. All other riders must use the main parking structure which is located off Spectrum Center Drive just around the bend. Parking is free. Light appetizers will be served. We encourage guests to stick around and enjoying lunch or dinner, 10% of your meal will be donated back to the National MS Society. LUGGAGE DROP* You will have 2 tags. Affix one to your luggage and one to your bike for quick identification. SATURDAY: Luggage will be loaded at Irvine Start Line in luggage trucks and will be transported to Day 1 Finish Line (Sheraton/Westin Carlsbad). SUNDAY: Luggage will be loaded at Day 2 Start line in Carlsbad and transported to the Day 2 Finish Line in Crown Point Park. NOTE: When dropped off at both finish lines, all luggage will be lined up according to tag number. WEEKEND PACKING CHECK LIST Don t forget to bring these necessities with you on your bike so you re prepared on the ride! Helmet mandatory Rider number mandatory (in Rider Packet) Comfortable riding gear: cycling shorts, jersey, sport socks, cycling gloves and shoes, etc. Sunglasses (with a rear view mirror is helpful) Spare tube/patch kit Pump/CO2 Water bottle(s) Advil/Tylenol Sunscreen (bring plenty) Credit card Photo ID, required for alcohol consumption NO EXCEPTIONS! Cell phone for emergencies Important health information/medications 2

ACCOMMODATIONS Area hotels sell out quickly! Book early to ensure your space. Reservations for Friday and Saturday night(s) are your responsibility. Room rates vary at each property and rooms go quickly! Visit the lodging page of biketofinishms.org for a list of partnering hotels in Irvine and in Carlsbad. HOTEL SHUTTLE SERVICE Irvine Hotels: Please note there is no shuttle or luggage transportation service from these hotels to the Irvine Start Line. Carlsbad Hotels: We are offering limited shuttling on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning between the Westin Carlsbad Resort and the Holiday Inn Express. Shuttle Schedule as follows: Saturday Shuttles: 3:30 p.m. 7:30 p.m. running continuously Sunday Shuttles: 5:30 a.m. 8 a.m. running continuously Surrounding Hotels in Walking Distance Include: La Quinta, Motel 6, Ramada Inn (list and details on the Lodging page of biketofinishms.org) EMERGENCY CONTACT INFO IMPORTANT: All cyclists must add emergency and medical information to the back of their rider bib! Include contact names, phone numbers, allergies, medical conditions, etc. In the event of an emergency, this will help medical personnel assist you quickly. IN THE EVENT OF RAIN Bike MS rolls out rain or shine, hot or cold, so prepare for any type of weather. In the event of severe weather, we have an action plan in place and will implement it as conditions warrant. PERSONAL & TEAM SAGS No personal or team SAGs are allowed on the route or at rest stop areas. In the interest of safety for all of our participants, we must limit the number of motorists on the route and at rest stops. Personal vehicles compromise rider safety and threaten our ability to use these venues in the future. Official Bike MS SAG vehicles are available throughout the course to transport cyclists. Please meet friends and family at the finish line each day. 3

RIDE SCHEDULE DAY ONE START LINE (100,125,150 MILE RIDERS) SATURDAY, OCTOBER 20TH Irvine Transportation Center 15215 Barranca Parkway, Irvine, CA 92618 6:00 a.m. Irvine Start Line Site Opens 6:45 a.m. Opening Ceremony & National Anthem 7:00 a.m. Staggered 75 & 100-mile (Day 1) Start Begins* 7:30 a.m. Special Team Starts Begin* 7:45 a.m. 50-mile (Day 1) Route Start Begins* 8:30 a.m. All luggage must be on trucks! All riders must be on route! *All starts will be strictly staggered to ease bicycle congestion on the city streets. Please be mindful of these rules and participate in the start as directed. Please get in the 100-mile start (Day 1) ONLY if you are a Century or 75 mile rider (Day 1). STEP 1: When you arrive at the start line, park your car in the center s state-of-the-art, 3-story parking garage. If you re transporting your bike on top of the car, you will be routed to an unloading zone to accommodate height limitations of the parking garage before parking your car. Riders can leave their cars on-site at no cost. All posted placards are enforced. STEP 2: Check-in your luggage at the FedEx luggage truck. (Make sure your luggage tag is attached!) The luggage will be transported to the Westin Celebration site. Each rider is responsible for getting luggage on the truck before 8:30 a.m. Please remember to keep your photo ID with you when you check your luggage, you will be required to show your ID at the entrance into Camp Pendleton! DAY ONE START LINE (25 MILE RIDERS) START/FINISH LINE SATURDAY, OCTOBER 20TH Westin/Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa 5480 Grand Pacific Drive, Carlsbad, CA 92008 7:30 a.m. Info Booth & Rider Check-in Open Route slips available here and at the Start Line. 8:30 a.m. Opening Ceremony 9:00 a.m. Start 11:30 a.m. Food service at the Westin begins (for evening celebration) 3:00 p.m. All riders swept from route LUNCH ON THE ROUTE The Day One 50 mile route lunch will be served 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Concordia Elementary School in San Clemente. The Day One 75 and 100-mile route lunch will be served 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. at Buccaneer Park in Oceanside. ROUTE SLIPS FOR 75 & CENTURY RIDERS: If you do not leave Buccaneer Park by 12:00 p.m., you will not receive the route slip to continue onto the 75 & 100 mile route. Century Riders who do not leave the San Elijo Hills rest stop by 2:00 p.m. will not be allowed to finish the 100 mile and will receive a 75 mile route slip to the Day 1 Finish Line. STEP 3: Make sure you pick up a route slip at the start line (at the information booth or the chutes). VIEW & PRINT ROUTE MAPS Visit the biketofinishms.org. BE SAFE AND HAVE A GREAT RIDE CYCLING SAFETY Our focus is to provide a high-quality, safe and fun ride. While we do an enormous amount of planning to provide for your safety, we ask that you do your part prior to the ride by visiting our Bicycle Safety Page at biketofinishms.org. Here you will find cycling manuals, safety videos, safe cycling tips and more. BIKE MS SAFETY POLICY Should a cyclist choose to behave, act or ride in a manner that is endangering themselves or others, Ride Officials and Colorado State Patrol officers have been instructed to remove their bib and wristband, and prohibit them from continuing on the ride. Please remember, this is a ride, not a race. RIDE SAFE. RIDE SMART. Please be aware of and prepared for railroad crossings on both days of the ride. KNOW THE RULES OF THE ROAD The safety of our cyclists is the number one priority at Bike MS. Help us by knowing the rules of the road and following safe riding practices. KNOW AND OBEY ALL TRAFFIC LAWS The golden rule of bicycling in a group is be predictable! OBEY ALL TRAFFIC SIGNS & SIGNALS Avoid following the leader through traffic signs and signals. STAY RIGHT! Ride in the right portion of the rightmost lane in the direction you are traveling. Leave at least 4 feet between your handlebars and parked cars, other hazards or riders. LOOK & SIGNAL Avoid following the leader through traffic signs and signals. UNPLUG Headphones or ear buds are NOT permitted. This is so you can hear traffic and safety warnings. AT A 2TIME Ride no more than two abreast and do not impede traffic. Note: Please Ride SINGLE FILE through Camp Pendleton BE VERBAL! Communicate during the ride to let others know about hazards or your movements. ON YOUR LEFT Call this out before you pass someone. If you hear it, a rider is approaching your left side. Allow them room to pass. SLOW SLOWING The cyclist in front of you is slowing down. Use caution and prepare to stop. Use the palm of your hand toward riders behind you to indicate slowing and stopping. STOP STOPPING This indicates that a rider ahead is stopping. Do not forget to unclip from your pedals. CAR BACK This means a car is approaching from the rear. All riders make an effort to move to the right of the road in a single file until the car passes. R R GRAVEL / POTHOLE / SAND / TRACKS Each of these messages is to alert the rider behind you of hazardous road conditions. The words are combined with the gesture of pointing to the hazard well in advance. 5

DAY ONE FINISH LINE/ CELEBRATION FESTIVAL Westin/Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa 5480 Grand Pacific Drive, Carlsbad, CA 92008 11:00-11:30 a.m. The following areas will be open: Bike Corral & Bike Mechanic, Pool, Spa & Jacuzzi, Massage room, Top Fundraiser/150 Club Lounge, Team Lounges, Luggage Trucks Available, Beer Garden Open, 150 Club Massage Room. Food service begins at 11:30 a.m. Food service is complimentary to all riders. Guests may purchase meal tickets at the Info tent; $30 for adults, $15 for children. 12:00 p.m. Music Begins (Pacific Lawn) 5:00 p.m. All riders swept from route 5:15 p.m. Evening Ceremony with Sam Rubin from KTLA 5 including the announcement of our Most Inspirational Rider & Team Jersey Contest winner. 7:00 p.m. Festival Site Close 7:30 p.m. Bike Mechanic & Bike Corral Close *The Bike Corral will be secured at 7:30 p.m. and will not open again until 6:30 a.m. the following morning. For security purposes participants will not be able to retrieve their bikes once the bike locker is closed. PLEASE NOTE: You will not be able to wear your cleats inside the Westin so bring comfortable shoes in your luggage. Refuel with some well deserved food and fun. Invite friends and family to help you celebrate all that you have accomplished! OTHER FESTIVAL DETAILS EXPO AREA Check out our expo with awesome vendors and giveaways! Visit the Westin Patio behind the lobby. If you raised $1,000-1,999 in 2018, pick up your Prize Jersey here! GOODY BAGS (in Expo Area) Includes the commemorative Bike MS: Bay to Bay t-shirt & water bottle! TOP FUNDRAISER LOUNGE 150 Club Jerseys will be give to those who ranked among the top 150 fundraisers in 2017. Those who raised $2,000+ in 2018 will receive their Top Fundraiser Jersey. HIGH ROLLER JERSEY (Top Fundraiser) If you raised $2,000 or more in 2018, pick up your jersey. PREMIUM PEDALER (Prize) JERSEYS If you raised $1,000 - $1,999 in 2018, your prize jersey will be available at the Westin. DAY TWO START (ALL 2-DAY RIDERS) Sunday, October 21st Westin/Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa, 5480 Grand Pacific Dr., Carlsbad, CA 92008 6:30 a.m. Bike Corral Open, Breakfast in the Grand Ballroom. Complimentary breakfast will be provided to all riders. Guests may purchase breakfast for $15 (adults), $10 (Children). 7:00 a.m. Staggered Start Begins to ease bicycle congestion on the city streets. Please be mindful of these rules and do not leave prior to the official start time as rest stops will not be prepared and there will be no route support. 9:00 a.m. All riders must be on route! 6

DAY TWO FINISH LINE/FESTIVAL Crown Point Park, 3700 Crown Point Dr., San Diego, CA 92109 Feel free to invite friends or family to the festivities to cheer you on as you cross the finish line and enjoy food, drink and music!! 10:30 a.m. Lunch service begins. Lunch is complimentary to all riders. Guest may purchase a meal ticket for $15 at the Info Tent. 12:00 p.m. Busses Begin Departing For Return to Irvine 3:00 p.m. All riders swept from route. Last bus departs. (Carlsbad stop on the 3 p.m. bus then heads up to Irvine.) 4:00 p.m. Finish Site Closes RIDER IDENTIFICATION WRISTBANDS Wristbands must be worn at all times over the event weekend to receive access to event amenities. RIDER NUMBERS Rider bib numbers are used to identify your bicycle and luggage at the ride. Blue and yellow bibs indicate participants at the 150 Club and High Roller Level. Please show your appreciation for this amazing group of top fundraisers! LOST AND FOUND Turn in or retrieve any missing items or personal belongings at the Ride Information Tent. ROUTE SUPPORT Rest stops are approximately every 10 to 15 miles. Bike mechanics are stationed throughout the event at rest stops, start and overnight venues, and roaming the route. Repairs are free of charge. Riders are responsible for the cost of any parts. Be prepared to handle your own minor repairs. Radio communication is available at all rest stops. Medics are available at all rest stops and emergency vehicles. Bike medics will also be roaming the route. SAG vehicles give a lift to riders in need and can be identified by car stickers, flags and other Bike MS identification pieces. To signal a SAG vehicle: 1) move off the road and out of the path of other riders; 2) dismount and stand near your bike; 3) remove your helmet and give a thumbs down to the SAG vehicle. At peak hours, SAG vehicles may be full, so please be patient until the next SAG vehicle arrives. Ride Officials will be traveling among riders to ensure that all rules of the road are being obeyed and that cyclists are riding in a safe manner. Route maps will be provided at the start line each morning. Please be aware of any last minute route revisions. To avoid getting off course, follow all route signs and Route Marshals. I RIDE WITH MS People who ride in Bike MS may do so to support family members, friends or coworkers who have been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. But, there are also legions of participants who live and ride with the disease, despite challenges such as fatigue or weakness. I Ride with MS is a National Multiple Sclerosis Society program, sponsored by Primal, that recognizes Bike MS cyclists who are also living with multiple sclerosis. Members of the I Ride with MS program enjoy special Bike MS VIP benefits and receive a complimentary I Ride with MS jersey. I Ride with MS participants are not only committed to cycling to create a world free of MS, but also serve to inspire all who are part of the MS movement. BUS SERVICE TO AND FROM THE EVENT Transportation of riders and bikes are available on Saturday, Oct 20, and Sunday, Oct 21, as follows below. Bus Tickets may be purchased for $20 on the Transportation page of our website. Saturday Morning: Busses will depart at 4:30 a.m. SHARP from Crown Point Park heading to the Irvine Transportation Center. *Please Note: Park in the dirt lot at Crown Point, where directed by MS Staff. Parking is free but will not be monitored overnight. You will receive a parking pass for your dashboard. Saturday Afternoon: (NEW THIS YEAR) ONE shuttle will be offered from the Westin/Sheraton Carlsbad back up to Irvine at 7:30 p.m. Tickets MUST be purchased by 10/17. Sunday Afternoon: Busses will begin departing for Irvine at 12:00 p.m. from Crown Point Park. Last bus will depart at 3 p.m. ONE shuttle from the Crown Point Park will head to the Westin Carlsbad Resort leaving at 3:00 p.m. PLEASE NOTE: Be sure to load your bike into the designated bike truck as soon as you arrive at the finish line. FUNDRAISING Bike MS proceeds fund breakthrough MS research and provide vital services, wellness programs, MS Navigator support and advocacy to people living with MS. TURNING IN DONATIONS The best way to turn in donations is to have your donors contribute online at your personal web page. Bike MS: Bay to Bay fundraising deadline is December 19th. To turn in cash and checks: 1. Record your contributions on the donation tracking form included in the Fundraising Toolkit. 2. Send your donations and a copy of the donation tracking form to your local Society office. Only hold donations until the day of the event if you need to meet your minimum donation requirement for Packet Pick-up (see page 2). Be sure the rider s name is written in the memo section of each check. Cash can either be consolidated into one check or made as a single payment online at biketofinishms.org. 3. Mail checks to: National MS Society, Pacific South Coast Bike MS: Bay to Bay 10089 Willow Creek Rd, Suite 250 San Diego, CA 92131 All donations are tax-deductible to the maximum extent allowed by law. Copies of canceled checks are sufficient IRS proof for donations less than $250. Visit your Participant Center for your downloadable copy of donation receipts made online. For donations greater than $250, a tax receipt will be provided to the donor by the Local office. 8
