About Jason Murdock Jason Murdock joined the Pingry faculty in 2007. He currently works as an Admission Counselor, a Peer Leadership Advisor, and a 6th grade history teacher. He has been the Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach since 2007. Jason graduated from Providence College and was a member of the Friars basketball team, playing against the likes of future NBA stars such as Ray Allen, Mike Bibby, Allen Iverson, and Jason Kidd. His freshman year, Providence won the Big East Championship in Madison Square Garden. He was named Big East Player of the Week in his sophomore season, and was named to the Athletic Director s Academic Team in his senior year. In 1997, his team advanced to the round of the Elite Eight in the NCAA tournament before falling to eventual NCAA champion Arizona. Upon his graduation from Providence, Jason had the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream of playing professional basketball overseas from 1998 to 2004 in China, Portugal, Venezuela, Poland, and Colombia. In addition to allowing him to live the dream as a professional basketball player, these experiences allowed him to gain a better perspective about life while sharing and celebrating cultural differences.
