About Jason Murdock Jason Murdock joined the Pingry faculty in 2007. He currently works as an Admission Counselor, a Peer Leadership Advisor, and a 6th grade history teacher. He has been the Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach since 2007. Jason graduated from Providence College and was a member of the Friars basketball team, playing against the likes of future NBA stars such as Ray Allen, Mike Bibby, Allen Iverson, and Jason Kidd. His freshman year, Providence won the Big East Championship in Madison Square Garden. He was named Big East Player of the Week in his sophomore season, and was named to the Athletic Director s Academic Team in his senior year. In 1997, his team advanced to the round of the Elite Eight in the NCAA tournament before falling to eventual NCAA champion Arizona. Upon his graduation from Providence, Jason had the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream of playing professional basketball overseas from 1998 to 2004 in China, Portugal, Venezuela, Poland, and Colombia. In addition to allowing him to live the dream as a professional basketball player, these experiences allowed him to gain a better perspective about life while sharing and celebrating cultural differences. He feels these experiences taught him about self -awareness, social responsibility, and demonstrating quality character. These lessons enable him to work effectively with Pingry students.
About Courtney Tierney Courtney Tierney is entering her second year as Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach at Pingry and 6th grade physical education teacher, bringing a wealth of experience both playing and coaching on various levels. Courtney came to Pingry from The Pennington School where she coached the Varsity Girls team for four years; she also has been the Head Coach at Mercer Christian Academy and was an assistant at Rutgers Prep after graduating from college. Courtney has also coached at many camps and clinics, most notably helping to run Sean Casey basketball camps at The Peddie School and The Princeton Basketball Club camps and clinics where she also has coached the AAU program. Courtney played her high school basketball at The Hun School of Princeton where she is the all-time leading scorer in school history with 1750 career points. Her playing career continued at Franklin and Marshall College where she earned Honorable Mention All-Centennial Conference her junior year and First Team All-Centennial Conference her senior year while leading F & M to the Centennial Conference semi-finals. Upon graduation from college, she played semi-professional basketball in the Eastern Basketball Alliance for the Harrisburg Horizon, earning second-team all WEBA honors in 2006, and most recently for the Philadelphia Destroyers. We help our players achieve these goals by challenging them to maximize their individual effort through focus on lacrosse fundamentals within the context of a team-first philosophy. The Winter Rev-Up Clinic is designed to help players improve their fundamental skills, both offensively and defensively, while building on their tactical knowledge and game concepts. About Carter Abbott Carter Abbott has been involved in coaching at the international, college, and high school level for 15 years, most recently as an assistant coach for the United States U-19 Women s National team that won the World Cup in 2011. Carter has been the Head Varsity Girls Lacrosse Coach at Pingry since 2011; in her two years at Pingry, she led her team to back-to-back Sectional Championships. Many of her former players have gone on to play college lacrosse at both the Division I and Division III levels. As a player at Princeton, she was a two-time First-Team All-American, a national champion, Ivy League Player of the Year, and team captain. She also played for two years on the US Women s National Developmental team. Carter has been a member of the Pingry faculty since 2010. With a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Harvard University and a Bachelors Degree from Princeton University in History, Carter has been an educator for 15 years. She currently teaches 9th and 10th grade World History and is a high school student-advisor at Pingry. DOUG SCOTT Pingry Strength and Conditioning Coach THE MISSION: The mission of the Pingry Strength and Conditioning Department is to provide each student-athlete with an opportunity to achieve their physical potential in the safest, most efficient manner possible. Regardless of the sport being played or the athlete s goals, we emphasize the core values of hard work, consistency, and self- improvement as the keys to success. The winter training clinic is designed for middle school students looking to increase their speed, strength, and quickness for their upcoming athletic season. Working in a small group atmosphere, we will emphasize proper form in a variety of exercises while providing individual feedback to help participants maximize each training session. About Doug Scott Douglas Scott, CSCS has been a member of the Pingry faculty since 1999. During that time Mr. Scott has served as a Physical Education teacher, Strength and Conditioning coach, adjunct Anatomy and Physiology teacher, and Track & Field Coach. Currently Coach Scott designs and oversees the training programs of both male and female student athletes competing in a variety of Varsity and Junior Varsity athletic teams, including many county, state, and conference championship teams, as well as many recognized scholar athletes. Mr. Scott has also been a featured speaker at local and regional sports camps, clinics, and workshops. In addition to teaching, Coach Scott has worked as a personal trainer, youth sport coach, and Fitness Director. Mr. Scott has also written a number of fitness-related articles and chapters in a variety of publications. Coach Scott is a Graduate from East Stroudsburg University, PA, with a B.S. degree in Physical Education and Exercise Science. In addition, he is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association and holds the title of Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
