Enjoy the Outdoors at Pat Mayse Lake Pat Mayse Lake, 13 miles north of Paris near the Red River and the Texas/Oklahoma state line, offers a wide range of outdoors activities the serious hunter or angler as well as 6,000 acres of water surface ample enough family boating activities and a 67 mile shoreline filled with full-service camping areas and other outdoor recreation sites. Sport fish special to the lake include large mouth bass, white crappie, sunfish, striped bass, channel and flathead catfish and many other common fish species. The lake is home to several fishing tournaments throughout the year, the most noted being the Uncle Jesse s Memorial Big Bass Classic held the first Saturday of May each year with its $5,000 grand prize. The lands around the lake are managed upland game and whitetail deer and are open to the public as a public hunting area. Game species include deer, fox squirrel, gray squirrel, bobwhite quail, morning dove, cottontail rabbit, raccoon and fox.
