Wow 4 teams heading into Districts GO CREEK! The Annual Mid-Summer Night Tennis was another fun event with 32 players coming down to enjoy some fun tennis, some time to socialize with fellow players and a delicious dinner. Two flights of 8 teams made up of 4 players per team challenged other teams within their flight to Men s and Women s Doubles followed by Mixed Doubles. Flight I winner was the gray team who edged out the yellow team with 29 points consisted of Meredith and Robert Young and Tammie and Justin Snyder. Flight II winner was the Green team who finished with 44 points and consisted of Linda Hawk, Anne Graham, Larry Cucci and Reid Cooper. Each flight split a new case of balls. Coming up is the WCRC Fall Mixed League. Check out page 4 regarding league rules and registration. ON LINE REGISTRATION OPENS SEPTEMBER 1ST. The annual Directory is coming along, although a little late. We have completed all the updating and are finishing up the actual directory. See you on the courts! I was made fun of having a monthly Rafa photo saying that each month he has less and less clothes on...so to keep up with the tradition... 2 The Court Reporter August 2010

Tennis News What a Season!! by Ginny Eddy The Walnut creek Women s 3.0 B Team s goal was to make it to playoffs. We accomplished that and won the 1st round against the PHTC Team but lost a close match to the WC A team in the 2nd round. Thanks to everyone who supported and played on our team!! Good luck to Moe s team as they head to Districts!! Women s 3.0 team heading to districts! by Maureen Satcher The Walnut Creek Women s 3.0 team made it to districts after only two seasons together. They fought hard and had a lot of fun chasing their dream as a team. Don t forget that the league registration fee open play doubles matches, a league gift and may include an end of the season tournament dependent upon weather and court scheduling. LEAGUE COMMISSIONER Pam Maloney 925-787-3970 Dates August 30, 2010 January 2, 2011 Entry Fees WCRC Members On-Line Registration: $15 ($30 per team) Mail In Registration: $20 ($40 per team) Non WCRC Members On-Line Registration: $25 ($50 per team) Mail In Registration: $30 ($60 per team) Format NTRP Levels Scheduling Match Format Tournament Mixed Doubles, 16-week regular season (players grouped by combined NTRP level; ie. 7.0 can be a 4.0 man and a 3.0 woman or two 3.5 players) Mixed 6.0-9.0 (PLAYERS CAN PLAY IN ONLY ONE LEVEL) Open play matches are provided for each team to complete during the 16-week season. Schedules will be posted on the Walnut Creek Racquet Club website during the last week of August and an informational email will be sent to all players. Players are responsible for scheduling their own matches at any site that is mutually agreeable between opponents. Best two-out-of-three set format, 12-point tiebreaker (regular scoring). No SUPERTIEBREAKERS! Both teams responsible for bringing balls to match; winning team gets unopened can. Matches should be played according to the Rules of Tennis. End of season tournament with draw determined by the league standings to be held over a weekend TBD dependent upon court scheduling and weather. To qualify for the tournament, teams must have completed and reported at least 4 matches during the regular league season. Depending on the number of entrants tournament play may include Friday night play. In addition, draws with large numbers of players may be required to play matches prior to the tournament weekend. Seeding for the tournament will be based on regular season standings. The more matches you and your partner play, the higher your ranking will be. On-Line Registration Opens September 1st!
