GHSA Scring Instructins and Rubric Updated 5 5 2016 5:58pm The KEY t this rubric and scring system is t perfrm within the means f the squad s skill level, execute all skills slidly, and scre high in the executin categries. Definitins Fall: A bdy part cming int cntact with the perfrmance surface during the executin f a stunt/skill. Drp: A stunt/skill being attempted that cmes dwn early. It may then be put up again; hwever, it is clear t the judges that the stunt was nt executed as intended. Missed Stunt: A skill is attempted but des nt hit the apprpriate psitin r height as the ther stunts. Ex: Failure t hit a heel stretch and instead remaining in a platfrm r liberty. Bbble: When a flyer hits a stunt/skill and wbbles, shakes, swings her arms but the stunt still remains in the air. True Full up: Bases remain statinary and flyer rtates 360. Entry: The beginning r munting phase f a stunt, where ne ft/hand(s) starts n the perfrming surface r in a lading psitin. Structure: A place in a pyramid when flyers cnnect (hand hand r hand ft) and pause t shw a defined psitin. This is als knwn as a picture. Unassisted/Assisted: Fr the Ced Secndary Stunts, Unassisted and Assisted will be defined as the fllwing. Assisted: Any cntact made t the stunt by any ther member f the team. Basically, if anther member tuches the stunt, then it is assisted. Unassisted: Stunt cmpleted by nly ne persn and withut the help f any ther team member. Majrity: 51% r mre f the team members execute a required skill. Half f the team plus ne. Example: 15 members wuld need 8 members cmpleting the skill t fall in the majrity range. Less than majrity: 50% r fewer f the team members execute a required skill. Half the team r less. Example: If a team f 15 members have 7 members cmplete a skill, then they wuld fall in the less than majrity range. Extended Stunt/Psitin: The supprting hand(s) f the base(s) is/are abve the head. (Surce: NFHS) Jumps Jumps shuld be perfrmed as a team. Squads can still cmplete jumps cnnected t tumbling. The jumps will be scred in jumps and the tumbling prtin will be scred in standing tumbling. Cmb: cnnected jumps withut a pause in between. Ex: duble te tuch r a te tuch, pike, hurdler, all cnnected. Variety: invlves different jumps Basic Jumps tuck jumps, spread eagles, banana jumps. DOD 1 2. Advanced Jumps herkie, hurdler, pike, duble nine, te tuch. DOD 3 6. A right herkie, te tuch, left herkie all cnnected wuld cmplete the 3 jump triple cmb requirement. Standing/Running Tumbling Standing Tumbling: A tumbling skill (series f skills) perfrmed frm a standing psitin withut any previus frward mmentum. Any number f steps backward prir t executin f tumbling skill(s) is defined as "standing tumbling." (Surce: usasf.net) Running Tumbling: Tumbling that is perfrmed with a running start and/r invlves a step r a hurdle (etc,) used t gain mmentum as an entry t anther skill. Any type f frward mmentum/mvement prir t executin f the tumbling skill(s) is defined as "running tumbling." (Surce: usasf.net) Entry int tumbling: Judges will watch the entry int the skill. Cartwheel: This will be called standing because that is what initiates the skill. Rund ff: This will be called "running" because f the mmentum it generates. A step hurdle int the cartwheel will be judged as "running". Full thrugh t full: A team member perfrming a full thrugh t full tumbling pass will cunt as tw fulls. Tw will be the maximum credit given per athlete.

Specialty Pass: Running tumbling with entries, including frnt walk ver/handspring, aerial, r punch frnt, ending in a tuck r higher. Running tumbling invlving skills, including back handspring step uts, whips, r arabians ending in a tuck r higher. Standing and Running Tumbling Requirements: The judges need t see what the Squad can d as a whle. If squads re use/repeat the same tumbler, judges will nt be able t distinguish what the squad is capable f ding as a grup. Therefre, it is recmmended that teams tumble in sectins f the rutine as a squad and nt randmly thrughut the rutine. *Nte: We must assume that if an athlete perfrms a higher level skill, then that athlete can als perfrm the lwer level skill. Example: if an athlete perfrms a rund ff back handspring full, then we must assume that the athlete can als perfrm a rund ff back handspring tuck r layut. Als, if an athlete perfrms a standing tuck, we must assume that the athlete can als perfrm a standing back handspring and give credit fr this skill. Partner Stunts/Tsses Partner Stunt Requirements: The judges need t see what the squad can d as a whle. If squads re use/repeat stunts elsewhere in the rutine, judges will nt be able t distinguish what the squad is capable f ding as a grup. Therefre, it is imperative that teams stunt in sectins f the rutine as a squad and nt randmly thrughut the rutine. Entries: Basic Straight up t stunt, prep level stunts. Intermediate Full up, half up t extensin, switch up t prep level, inversin frm grund t prep level, and invert frm prep level t prep level. Advanced True full up, switch up, ball ups*, invert t psitin, un braced tick tck**, quick tss t psitin. *Nte: Fr legal ball ups in partner stunts, a quick tss must be utilized. Please refer t ghsacheerleading.cm fr vides and NFHS 2 7 4. ** Nte: the un braced tick tck must g frm the perfrming surface r lading psitin t the psitin, pwer press/absrb t the prep psitin and tick tck t the psitin in ne cntinuus mtin in rder t cunt as an entry. If the mtin is nt cnstant, this will nt be cnsidered an entry. ***Nte: if a squad perfrms the same entry multiple times it will still nly cunt as ne entry. Example: if a squad perfrms a true full up, cmes dwn, and perfrms anther true full up with n ther entry, it will cunt as ne entry. Ced Entries: Walk ins, Tsses, Cannnballs, J ups, etc. Bdy psitins: Liberty, Trch, Arabesque, Heel Stretch, Bw & Arrw, Scale, Scrpin, etc. Flexibility Skills: Heel Stretch, Bw & Arrw, Scale, Scrpin, and ther skills demnstrating similar flexibility frm the flyers. Main/Primary Stunts will nrmally include the squad s best and mst creative stunts. T MAX ut, the squad must cmplete the skills defined abve fr the main stunt, plus a Secndary Stunt. It is recmmended that all required elements be executed during ne sectin f the rutine t receive full credit. Secndary Stunts must have the required sptters and bases. Examples ced style extensins, single leg stunts. Dismunts specific dismunts are nt necessary in secndary stunts. Tsses can be used in place f the secndary stunt. Basic Straight rides, blw uts, pse. COED: Ced teams will be required t demnstrate single based ced stunts during the Secndary Stunt sequence in rder t scre in the 6 8 DOD categries. The team is still required t put up the same number f Secndary Stunts t scre within a specific DOD categry; hwever, each male (up t 5 males) must cmplete the ced requirement. Example: if a team f 16 members (with 3 male athletes) intends t MAX ut, they wuld need t put up 5 secndary stunts with 3 f thse grups main based by the 3 male athletes. The ther 2 secndary stunts will be executed by the remaining female athletes. If a squad has mre than 5 males n its team, their cach will chse the male athletes best suited t perfrm the 5 single based ced stunts. Example: If a team f 16 members (with 10 male athletes) intends t MAX ut, it wuld need t put up 5 secndary stunts with 5 f thse grups main based by 5 f the 10 male athletes. Ttal Grups fr COED secndary stunts des NOT refer t the number f male athletes t be used. This refers t the number f stunt grups. Examples: (Secndary Requirements t Max Out DOD) 1. 5 Ttal Grups = a team f 16 with 1 male athlete t max ut at DOD 8, they still have t put up a ttal f 5 secndary stunt grups but the 1 male athlete must cmplete the ced requirement. The ther 4 grups can be all girl. 2. = a team f 15 with 4 male athletes t scre a DOD f 7, they still have t put up a ttal f 4 secndary stunt grups AND all 4 male athletes must cmplete the ced requirement. 3. = a team f 12 with 2 male athletes t scre a DOD f 6, they still have t put up a ttal f 3 secndary stunt grups but all 2 male athletes must cmplete the ced requirement. The ther 1 can be all girl. NOTE: Pyramids If frnt spts are used n partner stunts, ne pint will be deducted frm DOD. This applies t using a frnt spt n ne r mre stunt grups. Using a frnt spt n a single pening basket r during a shw n g that is nt part f grup stunting wuld nt deduct a pint frm DOD scre. Only if the frnt spt is used anytime during the grup stunts r baskets. All grups must demnstrate stability at the pint f the executed stunt. This cannt be a shw & g style executin. T Max Out in DOD in Partner Stunts: i. A team with 16 members will be expected t stunt 4 main stunts and either 5 secndary stunts r thrw 4 tsses. ii. A team f 16 members stunt 3 main stunt grups and 5 secndary stunts grups if the squad maxes the DOD requirements, the highest the squad wuld get wuld be a 7 in DOD. This squad wuld need t stunt 4 main grups and 5 secndary grups r thrw 4 tsses t max DOD and scre an 8. Keep in mind that these grups must cmplete all the skills utlined in the rubric t receive the highest scre in DOD. iii. If a team has a ttal f 15 members, they are expected t stunt 3 main stunt grups and 4 secndary stunt grups r 3 tsses with the required skills t receive a maximum f 7 DOD pints. Hwever, if a team has a ttal f 15 members and stunt 4 main stunt grups and 5 secndary stunt grups with the required skills, they can receive a maximum f 8 DOD pints. Nte: A team with 15 members will be unable t legally cmplete 4 tsses. Keep in mind the ttal number f members n the flr. A squad f 16 will likely have a mre intricate pyramid than a squad f 12. Entries: Basic Straight up t stunt, etc. Little creativity, nt visual. Intermediate Half up t any level, switch up t prep level, and inversin frm grund t prep level. Mderate creativity, smewhat visual. Advanced Full up, switch up, ball up, invert t psitin. Very creative, very visual. *Nte: if a squad perfrms the same entry multiple times it will still nly cunt as ne entry. Example: if a squad perfrms a true full up, cmes dwn, and perfrms anther true full up with n ther entry, it will cunt as ne entry. Transitins: Basic Shw and g, single leg shw and g, straddle sit, splits. Little creativity, nt visual.

Mderate creativity, smewhat visual. Advanced 1 ½ arund back t squish, up and ver, vault, and release transitins. Release transitins lss f cntact tricks in a pyramid. Ex: Braced tick tck, ball up, te tuch, full arund, frward flip, backward flip, etc., that are very creative and visual. Cheer Cheer Incrpratins: One r mre f the fllwing must be incrprated int the cheer t receive maximum pints: Jump, tumbling, stunts, tsses, and/r pyramids. Cheer Requirements: A minimum f 3 eight cunts f cheer with incrpratins. The entire team must participate in cheer t receive full credit. Athletes must say the wrds in the cheer. Cheer wrds shuld be distinct and have a high vlume. Dance Dance Requirements: A minimum f 4 eight cunts f dance. The entire team must participate in dance t receive full credit. Dance shuld have level changes, transitins, ftwrk, and flr chregraphy in rder t max ut.
