Hunting is over active baits and is done mainly from well built wooden platforms about 12-14 feet high or with ground blinds for the more adventurous. Weather conditions during hunting season can vary greatly with daytime temperatures exceeding 40 degrees with well below freezing temperatures at night. BLACK BEAR SEASON Last week in May - First week in July WOODLAND CARIBOU Newfoundland remains the only place in the world that you can hunt Woodland Caribou Approximately 50,000 woodland caribou roam the pristine wilds of Western Newfoundland. The success rate for the guided caribou hunt consistently reaches an incredible 90%. Sportsmen may expect to harvest superior Pope and Young, and Boone and Crockett trophies that weigh an average 400-500 pounds.
