This meet is being held in honor of Jill Griesse and her many contributions to swimming and the lives she touched through her coaching career and other activities. One of the happiest times of Jill s life was in 1968 when she founded and coached the Pau Hana Swim Club in Newark following her own swim career during which she won both senior and Junior National Synchronized Swimming Championships. Jill served on the U.S. Olympic Swimming Committee for 18 years and travelled internationally with the Committee. Jill was the recipient of countless awards, including her 1994 election to the Ohio Women s Hall of Fame, the 2007 Licking County Foundation Everett D. Reese Award, the 2011 Granville Good Scout Award, the 2013 Robbins Hunter Women s Board Victoria Woodhull Woman of Distinction and the 2013 Central Ohio Technical College Legends of Loyalty Award. Jill enriched the lives of everyone she encountered, inspiring each to try a little harder to fulfill their purpose. Considered by many a force of nature, she dreamed up innovative ways to entertain, often fund raising for her favorite causes while sharing pure fun with her friends and family. She left the world a better and more beautiful place, and she was afforded the tremendous opportunity to live her goodbyes with everyone she loved. We are pleased to host this meet in Jill s honor and the legacy she left behind. In addition to Jill s memory, the meet will benefit Pelotonia.

This year the Pau Hana Swim Team will be taking part in one of the most amazing cancer fundraisers in the country called Pelotonia. We are encouraging our Pau Hana Ohana, friends and anyone interested in joining our Peloton (as a rider, volunteer or virtual rider) or making a donation to our Peloton. We want to do our part to raise money to support the cancer research needed to END THE HORRIBLE DISEASE called cancer. We all have been affected in some way from this disease a sister, brother, mom, dad family member, friend, best friend, co-worker We have seen the courageous battles that have been fought some won, some gave it everything they could and lost, and there are still so many continuing to fight We must never give up until a cure is found Pelotonia was founded in 2008 with the objective to fund the life-saving cancer research. It is made up of riders, volunteers and virtual riders who to date have raised over $157 million dollars. What is unique about this event is that 100% of donations go directly towards cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. June 15-17th we will be hosting the 4th Annual Jill Griesse Memorial Swimming Invitational at the Trumbull Aquatic Center (Denison University) and we will be collecting donations for our Peloton. Jill Griesse founded the Pau Hana Swim Team and passed from pancreatic cancer in 2014. I am proud to say that from our past 3 Memorial Invitationals we raised over $17,000 and donated it in her honor to pancreatic cancer. Our goal this year is to double what we have raised in the previous 3 years and donate to END ALL CANCERS. That is why we are teaming up with Pelotonia. Our loved ones shall never be forgotten. And so I ask you to Please join us and take this opportunity to make a difference to ride or volunteer and take a stand You can sign up and be a part of our Peloton or donate to it: https://www.yourpelotonia.org/profiles/public-team-profile?userkey=574016 Thank you for your support, love and desire to be a part of something special and dear to all of our hearts. Swimmingly, Teresa
