Bus leaves at 6:00 AM Girls run at 8:55 PM but must report at 8:40 PM Boys run at 9:45 PM but must report at 9:30 PM This is a full 5K and has a lot of advantages for us because of our training this year! Make sure you report well in advance of your race! They are VERY STRICT AT THIS MEET!
The race starts out on the back side of the golf course heading north for.22 miles It is relatively flat so you should be able to get out to a good, smart, quick start At the end of the first hole you run you will turn right and head out on dirt Field will be tight so get in a good position to turn At the end of.08 miles you ll have a slight turn left Field will be tight so get in a good position to turn For the next.13 miles you ll stay on the dirt path before taking another left turn From the start to this point is a pretty steady climb of 8 feet in.43 miles.
About.07 miles after the second right turn you hit the.5 mile mark It is the second wooden power pole on your left after the turn. After the right turn you ll have about.30 miles of small rolling hills so make sure after that.5 mark that you ve set (and maintain) a good pace. At the end of the hole, you ll make a big U-turn of about.09 miles The end of the U-Turn is the first of a few big dips! This one drops down about 20 feet and then right back up all in about.07 miles Run it like we ve run emall year! Use the downhill to help on the uphill!
Coming out of the big dip, you ll turn right and head west toward (and then curves to he south around) the clubhouse It is about.47 miles with a few little bumpy hills Overall it decreases in elevation by about 20 feet in this distance The 1.0 Mile mark is when you come even with the team camps on your left After you go around the clubhouse and travel about.16 miles you ll have the second quick dip in the course It goes down and then up about 10 feet in.07 miles Use it! Kids who haven t raced smart to this point will be easy to pass.
At the end of the second dip you ll make a hard left and then a right hand turn Make sure that you breath after this dip and get yourself settled for the upcoming flats About 50 meters after the quick turns is the 1.5 mile mark About 50 meters after the 1.5 mark you ll curve south for.14 miles along flat dirt/grass surface At the end of this stretch you have a hard right hand turn Make it a good one and accelerate out of it!
After the turn you have a stretch of.11 miles before you curve around to the left (south) again. This stretch is.15 miles before a left hand turn and is slightly downhill After the left hand turn, you ll have about.04 miles to the two-mile mark Now it is time to get working and pass folks! There is.1 miles after the turn until you make another left hand veer-turn Trail goes back to dirt here For about.06 miles you ll run flat land before another left hand veer-turn back to the north
After the second veer-turn you ll be heading north for.25 miles at an ever-soslight up and then down hill Eventually you ll come to a dirt path where you will drop six feet into a wash At the bottom of the wash you ll make a U-turn up the last hill IT IS VITAL THAT COMING DOWN THE HILL YOU GET MOMENTUM AND THEN USE YOUR HANDS TO GET UP THE LAST HILL Hill is.04 miles and rises 31 feet stay mentally strong 2.5 mile is just after the bottom of the U-turn
Once at the top of the U-Turn hill you have a quick down hill and then back uphill Right about this time should be your 800m kick! You ll work your way out to the south for.2 miles after the hill It is slightly uphill At the end of this stretch a big U-Turn (.03 miles) will take you back toward the finish! Coming into the U-turn is where you should start your 400m kick. Make good turns and keep those arms pumping
The last stretch after the U-Turn will be slightly up-hill (8feet) in.16 miles Keep fighting At the end you ll have a nice downhill to start your 200m finish! USE IT TO GET MOVING PICK SOME RUNNERS OFF WITH THIS! Finish strong for the last.15 miles ALL YOU GOT!
Ultimately this is the culmination of work since May/June. BUT that doesn t mean it is different than the first race by any means Just run the race! Hoosiers Clip
