Each Confirmand is required to attend regular CCD classes as well as to attend the 6 special Confirmation classes with Fr. Jeffrey Galens; see attached class schedule. These classes take place during the regularly scheduled classes. If you miss one of Fr. Galens special classes, please attend it on one of the other two days given. (Ex., if you normally attend the class and are absent for that class on one of the days Fr. Galens is teaching his special lesson, please attend the or class when he will be teaching the same lesson). RETREAT The Confirmation Retreat is being held in conjunction with Bedford Village Confirmation program at St. Patrick s in Bedford Village on, November 12th, 2018 from 9 AM 12 Noon. The Confirmation Retreat is mandatory.

PARENTS CONFIRMATION MEETING A Confirmation Meeting for parents is scheduled for, October 29 th, at 7 PM. This meeting will be for all Confirmation parents only. No children. CONFIRMATION PIZZA PARTY AND MASS, April 28TH, at 5pm through 7pm it includes Mass for the Confirmation students mandatory attendance! CONFIRMATION FORMS The Confirmation forms (Covenant; Choosing a Christian Name; Saints & Sponsor; Confirmation Sponsor Certificate; and Guidelines For Sponsors) are available on the St. Patrick s CCD Website. Due dates to turn in these forms will be announced in class.

CONFIRMATION NAME Students should decide on the name they want to choose for Confirmation. We have attached several links to websites that highlight the lives of hundreds of saints. Once they have picked their name, they should fill in and submit the two forms: Choosing of a Christian Name and Confirmation Saint and Sponsor. Below are the links to saints names. They are also available on the Religious Ed page of the St. Patrick s Website. http://www.catholic.org/saints/stindex.php http://www.loyolapress.com/saints-stories-for-kids.htm http://nyfaithformation.org/saints-of-new-york CONFIRMATION SPONSOR DETAILS SPONSORS: The date for the Confirmation rehearsal with the sponsors for the 10am Mass group has been scheduled for 7pm on, May 1st, and on Thursday, May 2nd, at 7pm for the 1pm Mass group. If a sponsor lives a distance and cannot be available that evening, please have a parent stand

in for him/her for the rehearsal, then relay the details to the sponsor. We will meet in Wallace Hall. (As earlier indicated, students A through L are scheduled for the 10am ceremony and M through Z will attend the 1pm ceremony.) DRESS CODE: All students will be given a red sash to drape around their neck and over their clothing. Sashes will be distributed to the students at the Confirmation practices. Men: Wear suits or a sports jacket and dress pants, tie and dress shoes. No sneakers for this occasion. Women: Wear dress or skirt/blouse or a nice pantsuit and dress shoes. No sneakers. It is appropriate that girls wear dresses that cover their shoulders. Strapless, backless or spaghetti straps, or low-cut dresses would be inappropriate. Length should be modest, at least to right above the knee. REMEMBER, THIS IS A RELIGIOUS CEREMONY TIME: The celebrations on Saturday, May 4th, will begin at 10 am and 1 pm, respectively. All candidates and sponsors are asked to arrive one-half hour before their scheduled time and report to Wallace Hall. At that time, all candidates/sponsors will meet in Wallace to line up.

PHOTOS: To maintain the solemnity of the occasion, you are strongly requested not to leave your seat to take any photos during the actual celebration of the Sacrament. This will help by not distracting the Bishop, concelebrants or candidates. A photographer hired by the Church will take a picture of each student as he/she is anointed at the altar by the Bishop. The photos will be available for download on a website at no charge. And, there will be ample opportunities for taking pictures with the Bishop outside or inside the Church (if rain), AFTER the Liturgy. The Bishop is very accommodating. Please share this information with visiting relatives who may not be aware of our policy. We know this is a lot of information to digest, but we are hoping to make the program more meaningful and less stressful to your sons and daughters. And, as always, we are available to help with questions. Best Regards, The Religious Ed Team
