Oyster and Jazz Festival this Sunday One of Tingira s main fundraising events in past years has been the Oysters and Jazz Day. The proceeds of the event goes towards paying our major annual bills such as the club s insurance premiums, council rates etc and equipment replacement. This year the format of the event has seen a significant change with an increase in the number of artists and bands performing on the day, hence the renaming of the event to the Oyster and Jazz Festival. As with all big events it requires much work in preparing beforehand and then on the day itself. Following is a breakdown of the work that is required and hopefully members will pitch in to give a hand where necessary. The event was sailed in a light flukey breeze that fluctuated from NE to SE and anywhere in between. Crews were kept on their toes as they tried to make the most out of the ever changing zephyrs of wind. There were three races conducted during the day resulting in some very close but enjoyable racing. Our heartiest of thanks go to the safety boat crews: Max Keily & Laurie O Toole; Norm Black and Dudley Kavanagh. A Big thank you goes to our race officials Gerard Franks and Neville Prosser for their work out on the Pontoon starting and finishing the races and recording the results.
