Oyster and Jazz Festival this Sunday One of Tingira s main fundraising events in past years has been the Oysters and Jazz Day. The proceeds of the event goes towards paying our major annual bills such as the club s insurance premiums, council rates etc and equipment replacement. This year the format of the event has seen a significant change with an increase in the number of artists and bands performing on the day, hence the renaming of the event to the Oyster and Jazz Festival. As with all big events it requires much work in preparing beforehand and then on the day itself. Following is a breakdown of the work that is required and hopefully members will pitch in to give a hand where necessary. Oyster and Jazz Festival 2018 Tickets This year s Oyster and Jazz event has been revitalised and is now more like a festival with a line up of four different artists and groups. As well as feasting on oysters, music lovers will be able to feast on a great line up of local talent. The festival will feature local artists Michael Mills, ShapeShifter and Tyne, Nuages and Juju Mama and The Jam Tarts. Tickets for this event can be purchased online by visiting: www.trybooking.com/uqyd (click on the link or copy and paste it into your web browser) or by telephoning Margaret Britz 0411 196 059 or visit Margaret at 17 Coast Road, Macleay Island Results of the Off-the-Beach Mini Sailing Regatta Held on Easter Sunday The first of our Off-The-Beach Sailing Events for 2018 was sailed on Easter Sunday with 8 yachts nominating in the event. The event was sailed in a light flukey breeze that fluctuated from NE to SE and anywhere in between. Crews were kept on their toes as they tried to make the most out of the ever changing zephyrs of wind. There were three races conducted during the day resulting in some very close but enjoyable racing. Our heartiest of thanks go to the safety boat crews: Max Keily & Laurie O Toole; Norm Black and Dudley Kavanagh. A Big thank you goes to our race officials Gerard Franks and Neville Prosser for their work out on the Pontoon starting and finishing the races and recording the results. Tenders open from Tuesday 27 March and will close at 3:00pm on Friday 13 April 2018. Both the refrigerator and the upright freezer can be inspected during the following times: Sunday On The Deck (Sunday 01 April & Sunday 08 April). Friday Fish and Chips Dinner (Friday 06 April). Please note that both the refrigerator and the freezer were in good condition and working well up to the time that they were replaced. The sealed tenders will be opened by the Secretary and club member David Dunk to ascertain the highest bid for each item. The winning bids will be announced at the Friday members dinner on Friday 13 April. The successful members are expected then to pay for and collect their purchase in a timely manner.
