Rising Sun Reenactment September 30 - October 2, 2016 Pack your duds, feed your hound, and load up the truck. Calling all able-bodied sons (and daughters) to come to the Rising Sun Town Park on Wilson Avenue in Rising Sun, Maryland. th Company A, 37 Regiment, North Carolina Volunteer Troops, and st 1 Regiment, North Carolina Artillery, Battery C, C.S.A., and the Town of Rising Sun will host the Annual Living History and Reenactment on September 30 - October 2, 2016. This event is By Invitation Only! Battles will take place on Saturday and Sunday afternoon along with demonstrations and camp life. Free Saturday evening meal will be provided by the town... followed by period music and dancing. All those desiring to participate in a Candlelight Tour with scenarios may do so Saturday evening. Sunday morning there will be a church service and a memorial service at nearby Brookview Cemetery for a Civil War veteran. All branches of service and civilian impressions are welcome. The usual amenities plus powder issue will be provided.
A living history program will again be presented to the public and private school students who visit our encampment on Friday, September 30. The program starts at 8:00 a.m. so you will need to be in the Park on Thursday evening (Sept. 29) or very early on Friday morning. We have room for 11 or 12 stations that day. Every aspect of military and civilian life is welcome to be portrayed. We encourage your participation. Over the years, we have had presentations of flags, quartermaster, ladies stuff, toys and games, musicians, spies, and cavalry along with artillery and infantry demonstrations. Please critique your knowledge and share this with the school children on Friday. Please return this form as soon as your plans are firm. Rising Sun Town Park DIRECTIONS (from the South or Northeast): Take I-95 North or South to exit 100, Maryland Route 272 North. Go North on Rt. 272 to the first red light at the Cecil Community College. Turn left onto Maryland Route 274, take 274 into Rising Sun and turn left at the red light. Go to first street on your left across from the gas station and turn onto Wilson Ave. Go two blocks and the Town Park will be on your left. DIRECTIONS (from the Northwest): Take Route 222 South to the red light at U.S. Route 1. Turn left and go approximately 5 miles; you will see Route 273 bear off to your right. Take Rt. 273 approximately 1-1/2 miles and you will see a gas station on your left and Wilson Ave. will be on your right. Turn right and go two blocks, the Town Park will be on your left. DIRECTIONS (from the North): Take U.S. Route 1 South and cross over the Maryland State line. Go to the 4th road on your left, turn left onto Red Pump Road. At the fork, bear right onto Mount Street, and go to the second STOP sign at Main Street. Turn right and go one block. Turn left onto Wilson Ave., across from the gas station.
