Student Organization Packet The 2011 Homecoming Commission would like to invite all Student Organizations to be involved in the events planned during Homecoming Week this year. Homecoming Week is a tradition that unites students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the Toledo community to celebrate their pride in The University of Toledo. This year s theme Wild, Wild Midwest Sweet Home Toledo will be a week of exciting activities to show our UT spirit. Enclosed, you will find the forms that need to be completed for your organization to nominate candidates for the 2011 Homecoming King and Queen, along with a list of events for the week. All forms must be completed and returned to The Office of Student Involvement (SU2525B) by Tuesday, October 4 th at 5pm. No late nominations will be accepted. All nominees are required to be at the South Lounge on Wednesday, October 5 th between 12pm-4pm to have their picture taken along with filling out any additional information. Candidate Events Calendar Candidates are required to attend the following events at the times and locations listed below. Fall Break is October 17 th and 18 th Tuesday, October 18 th Midnight Breakfast Time: 10pm-12am Location: Horton International House You will probably be awake anyway! Get an early breakfast. Wednesday, October 19 th Wild, Wild Western BBQ Time: 12pm-2pm Location: Centennial Mall Rain Location: South Lounge Come out for Triangle Fraternity s annual Car Bash The top 10 candidates will be announced at this event. Texas Hold Em Tournament and Pi Phi Mocktails Time: 7pm-11pm Location: Student Union Auditorium Sponsored by Pi Beta Phi Sorority and the Office of Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Prevention Thursday, October 20 th UT Spirit Day! Wear your Blue and Gold Proudly Sweet Home Thursday: Field Games Time: 3pm-7pm There will be a Mechanical Bull sponsored by the Latino Student Union, a dunk tank, and a hot dog eating contest! Chili Cook Off Time: 6pm-7:30pm Watch as cooks compete to be named the best chili in the Toledo area! Sweet Home Campfire Time: 8pm-10:30pm Our traditional night! Festivities include: bonfire, pep rally with the UT Band, cheerleaders, and football players. The Top 5 Homecoming Nominees for King and Queen will be announced at this event!
Friday, October 21 st Homecoming Gala-Invitation Only Time: 7pm Location: Students Union Auditorium Student Alumni Association members may pay 10 dollars to attend. Contact the Alumni Office at Driscoll Hall, 419-530-2586 The Top 5 will be presented to the community at this event. Saturday, October 22 nd Parade, Tailgating, and Football Game Parents and Family Day! Time: All day-top 5 Candidates meet at 9am at the Glass Bowl at the NE Entrance near the Rocket for coronation practice. The Edward C. and Helen G. Schmakel Homecoming Parade begins at 11am! Then head off to the game to watch the Rockets bring home a victory v. University of Miami (Ohio)!
Homecoming Candidate Nomination Each organization may nominate one male and one female candidate for Homecoming King and Queen. These candidates are required to attend all of the homecoming events throughout the week. Attached is a list of the events for the week that the candidate must attend. Payments can be made as cash, check, or account transfer. Please make checks out to UT Homecoming Commission. Please return this completed form along with your payment for the candidate(s) to the Office of Student Involvement (Student Union 2525B) by Tuesday, October 4 th at 5:00 PM. NO LATE FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED. This event, like all others for the week, is mandatory for the candidates.
Elections Timeline Round 1 Thursday, October 13 th beginning at Midnight through Tuesday, October 18 th ending at Noon This will determine the Top 10 and will be announced at 1pm Wednesday at the Wild, Wild Western BBQ. Round 2 Wednesday, October 19 th beginning at 3pm through Thursday, October 20 th at 3pm This will be to determine the Top 5 Candidates and will be announced that evening at the Sweet Home Campfire. Round 3 Thursday, October 20 th beginning at Midnight through Friday, October 21 th at 3p This will be able to determine the Homecoming King and Homecoming Queen and will be announced at the Homecoming football game v. University of Miami (Ohio). All voting will take place on the myut web portal during the times and dates listed above. Due to the fact that Homecoming Week is shortened because of Fall Break, some of these polling times are different than in previous years. In providing you with the times and dates of the elections, we hope that you are able to plan your campaigns and distribute the information to all the members of your organization.
