Current contact details: Street Number & Name Town / Suburb State / Territory Postcode Home Phone ( ) Work Phone ( ) Mobile Email GUIDELINES FOR APPLICANTS for BOXING SPORT SPECIFIC VOLUNTEERS ROLES AT THE GOLD COAST 2018 COMMONWEALTH GAMES - as at November 2016 Introduction Boxing Australia, in conjunction with the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation (GOLDOC), are seeking to appoint Sport Specific Volunteers (SSV s) to assist in delivering the Men and Women s Boxing Event. An SSV is a specialist volunteer who has a strong understanding of the competition requirements/procedures relevant to the sport of Boxing, and experience in the delivery of competition and/or operations of Boxing (at a local, state, national or international level). During the Games, an SSV will play a key role in assisting the competition management deliver competition and training, while working alongside the appointed Technical Officials to ensure the competitions run smoothly.
A Sport Specific Volunteer may be: A current or former athlete, A Technical Official, A Technical Official in training, A current or past Coach, Administrators, venue staff, or other individuals regularly involved in Boxing competitions. Pre-Game and Games times requirements All SSVs appointed to work at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games are required to meet the following pre-games and Games Time requirements: Be available to volunteer for a minimum period of 10 days between 4 th April 15 th April 2018 with competition commencing from 5 th -14 th April If you have selected to work at the training venue your times would be from 25 th March 14 th April Attend the Volunteer Selection Centre and/or undertake a Volunteer induction Undergo role-specific training and venue specific training for relevant competition and training venue/s prior to commencing work as a volunteer (looking at Golden Gloves) Undergo and comply with a security background check Wear the allocated volunteer uniform and accreditation pass at all times when on-shift. Process Expressions of interest (EOI s) will be sort by Boxing Australia & Boxing Qld. These EOI s will be accepted through the Boxing Australia josh.obrien@boxing.org.au or Boxing Queensland secretary@boxingqueensland.com with the expression of interest application period closing at 5pm AEST, on Friday 13 January, 2017. Boxing Australia (in consultation with GOLDOC) will make initial selections for these roles in late January 2017. The first round of successful applicants will be notified at this time. Boxing Australia and GOLDOC will make the final appointments and notifications in mid-2017. Applicants who miss out on an SSV role will have the opportunity to nominate themselves for a generalist volunteering position via www.gc2018.com/take-part/volunteering. Please Note: All candidates who are interested in being considered for a SSV role must register to be a volunteer by completing the GC2018 Volunteer Registration process. This is an online process. The Volunteer Portal will be open from the early February 2017 for a period of 4 weeks. Successful applicants will be advised of their appointment by issuing of a formal Letter of Offer. Offers will be generated and issued via the GC2018 Volunteer Portal. Further communications, including details of rosters, an invitation to collect a uniform and accreditation pass, and instructions on training will be sent to SSVs via the GC2018 Volunteer Portal.

Eg. 1,2,3 Boxing Training Venue 25 th March 14 th April 2018 Sports Information Desk Competition Venue and Village Ensuring that teams participating adhere to the required training times allocated. Ensuring that all equipment is not being abused or mistreated and assist in helping the team for any assistance they may require. This role will require good communication between teams and staff to ensure issues are either minimized and/or quickly resolved Ensuring that all Coaches and Athletes have information relating to Competition schedule / results for the next day s competition. In this role good communication is essential to quickly resolve any issues. Athlete Escort Provide support and assistance ensuring the athlete is ready for his bout and provide assistance with his sports bag when going onto FOP. Ensuring the athlete goes via the correct walkway onto FOP and exiting via Mixed Zone Gloving Area Assisting the equipment manager to ensure all gloves are given to the athlete prior to his bout and then at completion of bout that all equipment is cleaned and accounted for. FOP water and corner assistant BOH assistants The main purpose of this role is to support the referee insuring that the water is cleaned up after the coaches between each round. Also to ensure that fresh water is available for the athlete between rounds This role is to support the equipment manager ensuring that the athletes are in there change rooms ready for when required to get bandages stamped and gloved before going to waiting area for entry onto FOP. Experience volunteering or otherwise participating in the delivery of competition for the sport at local, state, national or international level. Be passionate about GC2018 and the particular sport. Ability to conduct oneself in a professional and ethical manner at all times during GC2018, both during and outside competition. Ability to interact competently in English with athletes, Team Officials, Technical Officials, other volunteers, GOLDOC staff and other stakeholders. Ability to work collaboratively with other Volunteers in a team environment, and accept instructions from Technical Officials and others responsible for Competition Management. Suitable physical fitness relative to the specific role to be filled at GC2018. Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond quickly and appropriately to changing circumstances. SSV Entitlements The table below summarizes what GOLDOC will and will not provide to GC2018 SSVs.
