Code of Conduct The following is a guideline describing the expectations and requirements required for the Rocket Poms team. Each member must commit themselves to hard work, dedication, and team unity. Mission Statement: The Rocket Poms provides a unique and fulfilling dance and spirit experience to all members of the team. We strive to provide support for Moon Valley winter athletics and represent Moon Valley Athletics. We are dedicated to our product and talents along with the training and conditioning that it will take to be successful. Practices: All practices are mandatory. Our current schedule is practice Monday-Thursday 3:30-5:00. There will be no practice on game days. If a practice time is to change, the team will be notified as soon as possible in order to make the arrangements. Members missing a practice or arriving late jeopardize their spot in the next performance. Performances: Members will perform at all home varsity basketball games and one performance at America West Arena (Hoopin it up at the Arena game). This season will not include competitions; however, it may be an option in future seasons. Performances are mandatory. Performance Members and Alternates: Currently the team is 12 performing members and 3 alternates. Once the members have been chosen by the judging panel (which does not include the coaches), they will have to demonstrate to the coaches and director that they are committed by working hard, performing, being on time ready to work, and fully participating (110% rule). Alternates and performing members can switch places in midseason if the performing member does not show full commitment and showmanship. Captain Responsibilities: Captains shall be in charge of practices when designated by the Coaches Captains shall check each member prior to each performance for clean shoes, clean uniforms, appropriate make-up and hair. Captains will have the responsibility of assisting and teaching choreography. Captains will make sure that all practices start on time and are productive. Captains will keep in constant contact with the Coaches Captains will make sure of all activity times and will notify all members of any changes. New Captains will be selected or reselected each year by the Coaches. Communication: Be responsible for all lines of communication. The member should communicate with teammates and coaches respectfully and clearly. If for any reason a member will be late or miss a practice or performance, they are to communicate this with the coach or captain.
Academics: It is imperative that all athletes maintain passing grades throughout the season. Every week the coaching staff will receive a list of student athletes who are failing one or more classes. Students who are considered ineligible will NOT be able to participate in competitions until the grade is raised. Continuous ineligible statuses can result in a removal from the team. Social Media Clause: This clause limits and restricts what information MV athletes can disclose on social media websites. For example, derogatory statements about another student or teacher, ANY lewd or inappropriate conduct, videos, images, or language, or ANY FORM of cyber bullying on a social media site is prohibited. Any athlete who breaches these rules will face strong disciplinary action which will most likely include temporary suspension and/or dismissal from our organization for breach of mutual trust and the GUHSD Handbook Policies. The disciplinary actions listed in the handbook enforced by the head coach and athletic director. All decisions made by the head coach and administration team are final. Fund Raising: Members are expected to participate in fundraising events in order to raise money for our team. All fundraising proceeds and tax credit donations go directly to the team. It covers the costs of uniforms, equipment, future competitions, transportation, and end of season banquets. If you have ideas for the team fundraisers, talk to Coach Ziance. Propriety & Trust: Members are to comply with all GUHSD and MVHS rules and code of conduct. Students not found breaking these rules will face consequences in accordance with the GUHSD handbook and jeopardize their spot on the line. Members are also at games to be a support to the players and spirit for the school; it is not a time to socialize with their friends and significant others. You are to stay with the team during all events. It is expected that all members display appropriate and respectful behavior at school and all MVHS events.
