Park School Campus Notes / Activities October 22, 2018 Fall Activities: A number of Fall Festival activities are planned for October 26th at Park School. All K-5th grade students will be able to wear base costumes to school on Friday, October 26th. The costume parade for students in grades K-5th will occur from 1:50 to 2:10 P.M. We hope you can join us to observe the parade! The parade route is scheduled to take place through the main hallways. All parents are welcome to observe the parade by standing along the perimeter of the hallways around our media center. Classroom celebrations are scheduled to begin after the parade. If your child is unable to participate in these fall activities, please contact the Park School Campus office. We are happy to plan other activities in which your child can participate. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please call us at (847) 201-7010. For specific questions regarding classroom celebrations, please contact your child s teacher. Red Ribbon Week: Park Campus will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week from 10/22-10/26. Red Ribbon Week serves as a catalyst to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage smart decision-making as well as participation in a drug free lifestyle. At Park Campus, teacher lessons will include an additional focus on encouraging students to make smart choices in grades K-8, while students in the upper grade levels will also participate in additional drug and substance abuse prevention activities. One such activity for students in grades 3-8 will include a video assembly put on by Camfel Productions. The video presentation will focus on helping students understand the benefits of positive peer relationships in grades 3-5, and will expand to include topics such as internet safety, and substance abuse prevention in grades 6-8. Students are encouraged to participate in the planned spirit days for Red Ribbon Week. A flyer listing the planned dress up days is included below. PTO Donuts with Dads Event: We hope the dads join us when we gather for the PTO Donuts with Dads event on Friday, November 9 th. All dads, uncles, grandpas or other male role models are invited to join their students at Park Campus for a fun morning filled with donuts, coffee, and juice prior to school on 11/9. Please save the date for now as a RSVP form will be shared by the PTO soon. Visit us on the web @ http://ww2.d46.org/school-pc.asp

Calling all Veterans for a Veteran s Day Assembly at Park Campus: Teachers and students will be putting together a Veteran's Day Assembly on Monday, November 12 th at 9:00am. We hope to build upon classroom lessons and give our students and staff an opportunity to thank veterans and current service members in our community for their service. Attached to this newsletter is a recognition form to honor a veteran. Interested families are asked to complete the attached form, include a copy of a photograph (originals can not be returned), and return the form to your child s teacher by Monday, November 5th. Available family members are invited to attend the assembly where we hope to honor our veterans with a parade and music. Please contact Meredith Kurtzweil at kurtzweil.meredith@d46.org with any questions. Nut Free Classrooms: CCSD46 has adopted a pre-packaged snack policy for students in Peanut and Tree Nut Free Classrooms. Parents are asked to send in a nut free snack that is in its original packaging and includes an ingredient label. Fruits and vegetables are encouraged and do not need to be pre-packaged. Please do not send foods that contain peanuts, tree nuts, nut products, or any snack that was processed on a line with nuts. We understand this may be an inconvenience for some, but we appreciate your assistance in keeping all students safe. D46 Birthday Treat and Food Free Party Policies: Please remember that CCSD 46 has adopted a food free birthday treat policy. Edible treats will no longer be permitted. Instead of bringing cupcakes, doughnuts, or brownies, please consider having your student share a book with their classmates and then donate it to the classroom library. Additionally, classroom parties will no longer include food as part of the event celebration. Some curricular activities and projects may continue to incorporate food items upon district administrative approval. Picture Re-Take Day: In case you missed them the first time, HR Imaging photography will be back Tuesday, October 30 th to provide a second chance for 2018-19 school photographs. Any child whose family chooses can have their pictures re-taken at this time. Simply return your original photo package and come dressed to impress. Park School Twitter Page: In addition to our Wolf Pack Press E-Newsletter, Park School has a Twitter feed and an Instagram account for regular updates throughout the school year. Find us on Twitter @PCWolves and on Instagram @parkwolves. Visit us on the web @ http://ww2.d46.org/school-pc.asp
