Damonte Marching Invitational 10500 Rio Wrangler Parkway (775) 851-5656 Reno, Nevada 89521 www.drhsband.org ENTRY FEE The entry fee for the Damonte Marching Invitational (DMI) is $300.00. Entry fees are used for adjudicator travel, room and board and honorarium. In addition, entry fees are used to cover miscellaneous expenses incurred during the presentation of DMI. Each participating band will receive a video file of their performance on Dropbox. Bands will receive 1 complimentary pass (wrist band) for entry per every 10 students in the band. Staff passes will be available at the first Northern Nevada contest your band attends, or mailed to your school. CLASSIFICATION & PERFORMANCE ORDER Bands entering DMI will be divided into four divisions based on the total number of members in the band: Class A Class AA Class AAA Open Class 1 60 Total Members 61 80 Total Members 81 + Total Members any size/directors choice Total Number of Members is the sum of all performers: woodwind, brass, percussion, front ensemble, guard/auxiliary & drum major(s) At the discretion of the band director, bands may move up to ANY division but not down a division. Bands may declare for different divisions at various shows on the day of the Performance Order draw. After the draw date, Bands may NOT change divisions. Performance order will be determined by a blind & random draw on September 20 th at a site to be determined. The draw is open only to band directors of schools performing in any Northern Nevada marching band contest. All performing groups that have returned a completed entry form AND entry fee will be eligible for the draw. Those bands that have not submitted their application and/or entry fee by the deadline will be assigned the first performance slot in their division according to the date the application and payment are received. Bands will be placed in reverse order of draw by division, meaning the first band drawn goes last. The performance order by division for DMI is: Open, AA, AAA and A The improper reporting of numbers is the equivalent of academic fraud, and will not be tolerated. All entry forms must have the correct and accurate number of band members. PENALTY FOR INACCURATE REPORTING OF NUMBERS = 10 POINT PENALTY OR DISQUALIFICATION, DEPENDING ON THE SEVERITY OF THE INACCURACIES!

PERSONNEL All performing participants must be members of the program and enrolled in the school they are participating with. Directors or adults may not perform or conduct the band. Adults may assist in setting up the field props and pit equipment and removing equipment but must remain off the field and at the front of the track area during the performance. Adults may not hold props during the performance, UNLESS inclement weather conditions (e.g. wind) dictate that props be held to facilitate a band s performance. PENALTY FOR USE OF NON-REGISTERED STUDENTS = DISQUALIFICATION WARM UP AREAS Four assigned warm up areas (A, B, C & D) will be provided, and each band will be allocated a 30-minute block of time in these areas. Please note to face away from the stadium so as not to disturb any unit that is in performance. SILENT ZONE The Silent Zone will be located adjacent to the stadium and will be clearly designated by the contest host. Bands are NOT to play in this area or interfere in any way with the band in competition. PENALTY FOR PLAYING IN THE SILENT AREA OR INTERFERING WITH BAND IN COMPETITION = 5 POINTS COMPETITION AREA All judging will be confined to the competition area. The contest area will be a regulation size football field. The boundaries of the field will be clearly marked. Pit percussion is allowed anywhere on the field. Power will be available on the track near the front of the field (press box side). TIMING Field shows will be scheduled at 15-minute time slots. Upon the announced conclusion of the performance prior to your band, you may move into the holding area, which for DMI will be the south end zone. The timing of your band s 15-minute time slot will begin when the announcer says: Now entering the field, at : in your program, is the High School Band. This will be the signal to enter the competition area. The drum major salute will indicate that the band is ready to begin their performance. The announcer will then say: High School Band, you may begin your performance. The judged performance will conclude upon a drum major salute at end of show. The announcer will say The High School Band! Timing for the 15 minute time period will end when the last member of the band, support staff and equipment has cleared the field.
