Handicap System Review Update. NZ Golf Members Save on Car Rental with Hertz. National Membership Campaign LOVE GOLF The launch of the LOVE GOLF membership campaign is now only a few days away and we are looking forward to the roll out over the coming months. New Zealand Golf has developed the LOVE GOLF Membership Campaign as a long term initiative to increase membership, participation numbers and the overall perception of golf throughout the county. Even though the first activity with this campaign happens over the coming week, it is a long term initiative and clubs can continue to sign up and be part of the campaign. We have 125 clubs on board so far however for those clubs who have not signed up please contact Jan Rowsell at New Zealand Golf (jan@nzgolf.org.nz) or your local District Association for more details. Kiwis Winning on The World Stage New Zealand s representative and junior golfers have come fast out of the blocks in 2014. Early in January, Bay of Plenty representatives Bailey Smith and Alanna Campbell claimed the South Australia Junior Championship and the Victorian Junior Masters respectively to begin the year. These great results were quickly followed by Auckland golfer Tae Koh who made history at the Australian Amateur Championship in Adelaide. 2

The 19 year old from the Manukau Golf Club completed a dominant performance to win 6 and 5 over West Australian Curtis Luck at The Grange Golf Club. The 2014 Australian Amateur will be remembered as one of the hottest ever staged in the tournament s history that dates back to 1894. It will also be remembered as the time that Tae Koh came of age. Koh, who has never won a national title in NZ, became the first Kiwi golfer to win the Australian Amateur Championship in 22 years since Michael Campbell won in 1992. He is only the third New Zealand golfer to have won the Australian Amateur after C E S Gillies in 1899 and Campbell, who famously went on to win the US Open in 2005. Congratulations to these fine young kiwi golfers who are winning on the world stage. It is great profile for our game and inspires more people to participate. Not only do our national tournaments provide our young players a pathway to develop their talent, they are an important part of the legacy and history of the game in New Zealand. Celebrate the Success of Lydia Ko Official Memorabilia Secure your piece of New Zealand golfing history with this exclusive piece of memorabilia. In February 2013 at the Clearwater Golf Club, World No. 1 Amateur Lydia Ko became the first New Zealander to win the New Zealand Women's Open and the youngest winner in Ladies European Tour history. To commemorate this wonderful moment in history, New Zealand Golf has created a special piece of memorabilia. There have been only 50 pieces produced; each of which is personally signed by Lydia Ko and available for $400 each. Click Here for full details. Regional Golf Club Development Officers New Roles from April As part of New Zealand Golf s endeavours to provide a greater commitment and service delivery to grass roots golf, from April 2014 we will trial the employment of 2 Regional Golf Club Development Officers in two regions (Bay of Plenty/Waikato & Auckland/North Harbour/Northland). The Regional Club Development Officers will directly facilitate the delivery of growth and support services to golf clubs in partnership with the existing District Association network. While the Regional Club Development Officers will work closely with District Associations, they will be employed directly by New Zealand Golf with reporting to the national office. The key responsibilities of each Regional Club Development Officer will be to work directly with clubs and District Associations to build club capability, to act as a link between national body and District Associations, and to be a conduit for nationally developed projects and training opportunities. After careful review of progress in 2014, the intention by March 2015 is for New Zealand Golf to continue the employment of Regional Club Development Officers in a few other locations throughout the country. Sign Your Club Up Today for the Golf Club Group Buying Scheme 4

New Zealand Golf has paid the 2014 joining fee for all golf clubs in New Zealand to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to save on your existing operational outgoings. It s a simple process that involves you informing the GSB Team about your existing business vendors, they cross reference them against their 100+ suppliers to determine whether their negotiated deals beat the deal you re already getting. If it does then they will do all the work to transfer your vendor account; if it doesn t then you keep your existing vendor and continue as before. All of this is FREE to Golf Clubs and all you need to do is activate your account by contacting the GSB Team and arrange all the details. To activate your account and start saving on your existing operational costs: Sign up online: http://www.gsb.co.nz/page/nz golf welcome series Phone them: 0508 20 30 40 Email them: ask@gsb.co.nz Well done to all the Golf Clubs who have activated their accounts and are already making significant savings. Handicap System Review Update As you may be aware, New Zealand Golf has recently been undertaking a review of the National Handicap System. Part of the process involved a survey for all clubs and members. The response to this survey was fantastic with 244 clubs and 9,774 golf club members completing it. New Zealand Golf has consulted with the USGA, R&A and Golf Australia on aspects of their handicap systems as we analyse the way forward for our system. The outcomes and recommendations from this review process were published on 20 December 2013 and circulated to all District Association and Golf Clubs. To view the 2013 Handicap System Review Summary, please click here. In the paper you will find a list of recommendations that are published for feedback and consultation through until the end of February 2014. Following this period of feedback and consultation, the New Zealand Golf Board will confirm the changes we are to implement from 1 June 2014. New Zealand Golf is committed to providing the most equitable and enjoyable playing environment and we are interested in your comments and input. NZ Golf Members Save on Car Rental with Hertz Hertz is now the official car rental supplier for New Zealand Golf. Hertz and New Zealand Golf have entered this partnership to offer members access to special car rental rates whether they are travelling around New Zealand or globally. As part of the deal, NZ Golf members get 10% off the Hertz daily car rental rate throughout the year. 5

This can be used when travelling to tournaments or other business and leisure hires when NZ Golf members quote the customer discount program (CDP) code 2013339 while booking.
