North SUPPLEMENTARY STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORT Clarence River Jockey Club, GRAFTON RACECOURSE, Tuesday 20 March 2018 RACE 4: Maiden Plate 1710m Legal Loophole Jockey M. Paget was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, under AR137(a), in that as the rider of Lunar Lustre he did approaching the 100m, after being bumped by Lord Morpheus, continue to ride his mount along whilst on an inward path when insufficiently clear of Military Express which was steadied and crowded in onto the running of Legal Loophole which was steadied and crowded in onto the running of Bravo Uncle Billy before bumping its hindquarter on that runner, becoming unbalanced and falling dislodging its rider Kirk Matheson. M. Paget s license to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Tuesday 29 May 2018 and to expire on Monday 18 June 2018. In assessing penalty stewards acknowledged the level of carelessness shown by M. Paget was low and that Lord Morpheus had contributed to the incident by initially bumping his mount. Stewards also accounted for M. Paget s poor careless riding record over the past 12 months. General: As M. Bennett had injured his left hand stewards permitted the following rider changes Race Rider (Horse) 1 M. Paget (Uppish) 2 M. McGuren (Carrington Girl) M. Bennett was advised that he requires a doctors certificate of fitness prior to his next race start. RACE 1: Maiden Plate 1206m: Acraman Approaching the home turn became held up on heels and was unable to improve until shifting in around heels at the entrance to the straight.
2 Airdale Slow to begin. Checked after improving onto heels near the 600m. Approaching the 100m was obliged to ease in around heels to continue to improve. Almas Steadied after pulling its way up on to heels near the 600m. Unable to improve approaching and rounding the home turn when held up on heels. Bumped at the entrance to the straight. Dixie Amour Hampered shortly after the start. Checked after pulling its way up onto heels near the 600m. Laid in rounding the home turn and down the straight proving difficult to ride with full vigour. Maybe Markle When questioned regarding the performance of the filly apprentice J. Guthmann-Chester stated that he anticipated settling in a forward position however his mount was slightly slow to begin and failed to muster sufficient early speed. J. Guthmann Chester stated that approaching the 1000m he eased his mount in an effort to obtain cover and it overraced and raced greenly. J. Guthmann- Chester stated his mount was obliged to race three wide in the middle stages and was inclined to lay out away from the field. J. Guthmann-Chester stated that his mount responded fairly to pressure near the 500m however after a tough run in the early and middle stages felt to peak at the 200m and weakened to the line. A post race veterinary examination of the filly revealed it to have a mildly poor recovery. Moonmo Overraced rounding the first turn. Real Oh Jay Ran wide rounding the first turn. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding, which was beaten 17.06L, did not reveal any abnormality. Trainer Mr L. Richardson was advised that a warning would be placed on the colts competitiveness. Sienna Rose Checked after improving onto heels near the 800m. Skill Set Pulled in the early stages. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Supreme Rhythm Eased from heels near the 1000m. Near the 900m was eased out after pulling its way up on to heels. Raced wide in the middle stages. Bumped at the entrance to the straight. Toffee Drop - Eased from heels near the 1000m. Uppish Overraced in the early stages. RACE 2: Maiden Handicap 1410m: Blue Monte Pulled between the 1200m and 1000m. Passing the 600m became held up on heels and was unable to improve until shifting out around heels at the entrance to the straight.
3 Canny Watch Blundered on jumping. Eased when momentarily tightened for room approaching the home turn. Carrington Girl At the entrance to the straight was momentarily steadied from the heels of Blue Monte which shifted out. Apprentice Ms L. Kilner was issued a reprimand (AR137(a)). Monster High Began awkwardly. Polly A Dor Overraced approaching and rounding the first turn. Poyfection Slow to begin (3L). Spirit of Edyn Jockey Ms B. Ainsworth was fined $200 for using her whip on 5 additional occasions to the 5 permitted prior to the 100m (AR137A(5)(a)(ii)). Shaolin Song Overraced approaching the 1200m. Steadied after improving onto heels near the 600m. Passing the 500m was checked for a number of strides after improving onto the heels of a weakening runner and remained held up on those heels until easing out into clear running shortly after straightening. RACE 3: Benchmark 64 Handicap 2215m: Banri De Hero Slow to begin. Momentarily tightened for room near the 50m. Joueur Raced wide to the 1200m. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to have a poor recovery. McGill (NZ) Checked after improving onto heels approaching the 1000m. Mister Maker Approaching the 200m was obliged to ease in around heels to continue to improve. Solar Lady Bumped rounding the first turn. Inclined to overrace in the early and middle stages. Splendid Stryker Bumped and unbalanced rounding the first turn. Raced wide in the early stages. Stella s Chance When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding jockey Ms J. Worley stated that her mount led the event as expected and travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages. Ms Worley stated that when asked to improve approaching the home turn her mount failed to respond and was very disappointing in its run to the line. Ms Worley stated that her mount was up 800m in journey today and in her opinion lacked the fitness for such a significant step up in distance. Trainer Mr W. Lawson agreed with the sentiments of Ms J. Worley and advised that the gelding
4 appeared to have lost more fitness during the 41 day freshen up, prior to its last start, than he had anticipated. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to have a poor recovery. Two For the Road Laid out under pressure over the final 150m. Winkler (NZ) Commence to overrace approaching the first turn and continued to the 1100m. Laid out rounding the home turn. RACE 4: Benchmark 65 Handicap 1610m Boncosta Began awkwardly. Capital Magic Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Chantilly Chateau Bumped at the entrance to the straight. Hula Girl Unable to improve rounding the home turn when held up on heels. Unable to be fully tested over the final 150m when held up on heels. Melted Moments Eased from heels passing the 1300m. Inclined to overrace from this point throughout the middle stages. Inclined to hang out between the 600m and home turn. At the entrance to the straight blundered and was checked when attempting to improve into insufficient racing room. Was unable to be tested when racing in restricted room from this point to approaching the 200m. Mr Spin Raced wide in the early stages. My Boy Louie Overraced approaching and rounding the first turn. Star Fest Slow to begin. RACE 5: Class 3 Handicap 1206m General Nelson Overraced in the middle stages. Midweek Hussler Inclined to overrace in the early and middle stages. Myambla Tightened for room shortly after the start. Myboycellito Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Pat s Destiny Unable to improve between the 500m and entrance to the straight when held up on heels. Momentarily held up on heels passing the 300m. Unable to be tested over the final 200m when held up on heels.
5 Rosetta s Comet Laid out rounding the home turn and down the straight proving difficult to ride with full vigour. Tarbert - Tightened for room shortly after the start. At the entrance to the straight was obliged to ease in around heels to continue to improve. Momentarily held up on heels passing the 300m. Passing the 200m became held up on heels and was unable to be tested for the remainder of the event. Text Me Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Hung out in the middle stages. Laid out from the entrance to the straight to the 100m. Shifted in abruptly passing the 100m. Toast Began awkwardly and tightened for room shortly after. Passing the 500m became held up on heels and was unable to improve until shifting out around heels approaching the 300m. RACE 6: Open Handicap 1206m: Butcher Blue Bumped and unbalanced on three occasions approaching the 200m. Curley Mac Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Hope Island Approaching the 200m became unbalanced after shifting out and bumping another runner on three occasions. Unable to be fully tested over the final 100m when held up on heels. Hotel Drive Began awkwardly. Inclined to overrace in the early stages. More Patasi Slow to begin. Inclined to pull in the middle stages. Rounding the home turn became held up on heels and was unable to improve until easing and shifting out around heels at the entrance to the straight. My Cousin Bossy Unable to improve approaching and rounding the home turn when held up on heels. Near the 300m was obliged to ease out around heels to continue to improve. Upstart Slow to begin. Inclined to overrace in the middle stages. RACE 7: Class 1 & Maiden Plate 1710m: Court Appeal Jockey Ms B. Hodder will be interviewed regarding her whip use prior to the 100m at a date to be fixed. Famed (NZ) Bumped on jumping. Raced wide in the early stages. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding, which commenced to weaken from the 600m and was beaten 24.9L, did not reveal any abnormality. Stable representative Mr V. Bennetts
