Invitation to Participate To all our fellow taekwondo practitioners, ACT Taekwondo invites you to participate in the 2018 ACT Taekwondo Championships Cool Climate Classic. As a member of the International Taekwondo Alliance, ACT Taekwondo endeavours to further increase growth in all areas and levels within competition taekwondo. Together, we strive to encourage professional development and education in competition participation to the highest standard. The ACT Cool Climate Classic is a private event open via invitation to likeminded clubs, coaches and friends who espouse the same values of ACT Taekwondo in partnership with the International Taekwondo Alliance and are looking for the best development opportunities for their athletes. We aim to promote and expand the use of the most current international competition equipment, systems, rules and regulations. Our primary aim for the Cool Climate Classic is to run a premier annual event that enables all athletes to participate at an international style competition in a fun and safe environment. This year our event will include fully equipped Daedo scoring systems for all sparring weight and age categories including electronic head gear as well as video replay for Cadet, Junior & Senior Open Black Belt divisions. All Poomsae divisions will be scored using ipads with all WT Black Belt divisions aligned with the existing Poomsae rules (2014). We look forward to continuing to develop and strengthen the taekwondo community together with clubs, coaches, athletes, officials, volunteers, friends and family. By registering and attending the competition you agree that ACTTKD may take photos, video recordings or audio recordings of the competition and that these materials may be used for display, promotion and/or advertising, or sold for profit, and the student waives any compensation to which they may otherwise be entitled for appearing in such materials. Age: Player classification is by the year of their birth. For example, if a player turns 10 at any time this calendar year they must enter the competition as a 10-year-old even if they have not yet turned 10. Daedo Trunk Scoring for: All Sparring Divisions All Belt Levels Daedo Head Scoring for: Cadets - Black & Red belts only Juniors - Blue belts & above Open - Blue belts & above Masters - Blue belts & above NO HEAD KICKS for: Minors - All belts Cadets - Yellow & Blue belts All Ages - Yellow belts *Warning* A head kick in the No Head Kick category will receive the appropriate penalty of Gamjeom (deduction point), a second head kick will result in another Gamjeom and disqualification. The Head Referee and Tournament Director shall be the final word on contested rulings. If you have a novice competitor who is in the Junior Divisions or above and a blue belt or above, who requests no head contact, you must contact the tournament director directly at admin@acttkd.com.au prior to entries closing to ensure competitors all have the chance to be accommodated. Daedo Sock Suppliers: Equipment: It is up to the athlete or club to provide Daedo foot guards & heel inserts. Daedo guards will not be available for purchase on the day. Uncontested Players: Players who remain uncontested will be advised prior to the event. Players who are uncontested may elect to receive a medal or a refund. If a player is uncontested, the event manager in consultation with the player s head instructor will endeavor to find an appropriate match for a fun, safe and enjoyable experience. Family Poomsae (ipad Scoring System) Divisions: Entrants will be grouped into appropriate divisions after registrations close. A team must have a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 8. The pattern for family poomsae will be free choice to maximize participation for all members of our taekwondo family.
