TINGARA NETBALL CLUB NEWSLETTER 1 September 2016 Hi All Tingara Members Finals Following the last round of regular fixtures last Saturday, we would like to congratulate all Tingara teams for their terrific performances over the course of this season. All Tinnies teams have consistently exhibited excellent sportsmanship, enthusiasm and team spirit. To our teams who are not playing finals, we hope you enjoyed the season and sign up again for 2017. For the 35 Tingara teams (wow!) that are playing finals, we wish you all the best for the final series. The following Tingara teams will be playing finals this weekend: SA2, SA4, SA7, SB3, SB5, SC4, 19(1), 17(1), 17(4), 17(7), 17(8), JA1, JA2(2), JA2(3), JA3(4), JA3(5), JA5, JA6, JB1, JB2, JB3, JB4, JC1, JC2(14), JC2(15), JC4, JC7, JC8, JD1, JD3, JD4, JD7, JE1, JE3 and JE5 Special mention must be made of our SA2, SC4, JA1, JA2(2), JA6, JB1, JB3 and JC7 teams, which have all gone through the season undefeated. This is an amazing achievement by these 7 teams! We remind all coaches and managers of the special FNA rules applying to finals for player availability please refer to previously distributed FNA information in this regard. The finals series places a large burden on our umpires, especially in the 1st week of the finals. Thanks once again to our umpires for their support to meet Tingara s umpiring obligations with FNA. Player and Umpire Achievements We would like to congratulate the Zoe Fisher on her MVP award playing for Coastals in the recent State Netball League Reserves Grand-final, and for her team winning the Reserves premiership. We would also like to congratulate Joley Patterson on her State Schoolgirl team winning the national series in Adelaide recently. This is the 1st time the WA team has won these championships in many, many years!

Congratulations to Natasha Hayne, Clare O'Connor and Mia Hughes on their recent attainment of C Badges for umpiring. In addition, congratulations to Claudia Rich, who has completed her initial umpire training at Tingara. Umpiring Our Umpiring Co-ordinator, Keryn Rae, has asked all prospective umpires for 2017 to contact her (email: kmraes@optusnet.com.au mob: 0409 030 687) as soon as possible for information on umpiring courses etc. The FNA run Junior Umpire Development Program offers training for new umpires, and those considering umpiring next year should apply. The minimum age for the program is turning 14 in 2017. New umpires are always encouraged, but you must be able to umpire the 8am and 9am games. In addition, Keryn would also like to hear from any Tingara teams participating in the forthcoming FNA spring competition that would like to find an umpire. Wind-ups After their final games last Saturday, our 10 most junior teams (JH2, JH1, JG2, JG3, JG4, JF7, JF5, JF3, JF2 and JF1) attended their end-of-season windup at Tropical Twist. It was another fun afternoon for our youngest group of players, as they enjoyed the Tropical Twist playing facilities and received their trophies. Please check out the photos of the wind-up on the Tingara Facebook page. All other Tingara teams should have received their invitations (from their coaches or managers) to their Club wind-ups, to be held as follows: Seniors windup to be held on Saturday 17 September at Swan Rowing Club. A reminder that this function is BYO. 17's & JA windup to be held on Monday 19 September at Tompkins Park JB and JC windup to be held on Tuesday 20 September at Tompkins Park JD and JE windup to be held on Wednesday 21 September at Mt Pleasant Bowling Club Umpiring Our Umpiring Co-ordinator, Keryn Rae, has asked all prospective umpires for 2017 to contact her (email: kmraes@optusnet.com.au mob: 0409 030 687) as soon as possible for information on umpiring courses etc.

Goal for 2017: To continue my passion for netball in Queensland, and improve my skills. Tingara s loss is Queensland s gain! Message from Our President Dear Members On behalf of the Management Committee I would like to congratulate all teams on a terrific (if not cold and wet) 2016. Good luck to all teams that have managed a place in finals, and for those that season has ended we trust you are looking forward to celebrating the year with your team mates during our wind up functions. As we hit the "business end" of the season (for 35 Tinnies teams!) it is usual for competitive tensions to rise, and unfortunately potential for this to bubble over into moments that are at odds with the Codes of Conduct both our club and the Fremantle Netball Association abide by.

Whilst the vast majority of members live and breathe these codes and therefore represent Tingara magnificently, (for which the club is thankful) I would like to take the opportunity to again remind everyone of these codes, and underline that they exist to ensure good relations amongst not just ourselves but also the wider FNA community. Please get behind our wonderful coaches and managers during this time too - they are volunteers balancing lots of decisions in the best interest of the their team on game day. It is important that they feel your support. FNA Parents and Spectators Code of Conduct 1. Encourage players to participate if they are interested, do not force them; 2. Encourage players to always participate according to the rules and the umpiring decisions; 3. Focus on the player and teams efforts and performance rather than winning and losing; 4. Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a game; 5. Remember that children learn best from example. Applaud/appreciate good performances and skilful plays by all participants; 6. Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from the game; 7. Respect officials decisions and teach players to do likewise; 8. If you disagree with an official, raise the issue through the appropriate channels rather than questioning the officials judgment and honesty in public; 9. Show appreciation of volunteer coaches, officials and administrators; 10. Demonstrate appropriate social behaviour by not using derogatory language, harassing players, coaches or officials or interfering with the progress and /or conduct of a game. The full list of FNA conduct codes can be found at: http://www.fremantlenetball.com.au/policies.htm Thank you for helping ensure our Club motto " Success with Integrity" plays out every Saturday! Go Tinnies - have a great finals series! Regards Mike Parker 2017 Tingara Management Committee At this early stage, there are a number of vacancies for nominations for the 2017 Club Management Committee for the following positions: Vice President Secretary Registrar Senior Coaching Co-ordinator Equipment Co-ordinator Record Keeper General Committee Members If you are interested in nominating, please contact one of the current Committee members. These proposed changes have been posted on the Committees, Policies and Governance page of the

Club website. Please refer to these proposed changes if you are interested.
