I hope this beautiful weather means Punxsutawney Phil was wrong and we will enjoy an early Spring. Regardless, enjoy it while it lasts. A big thank you to the S.A.L. volunteers that helped with the Valentine s surf and turf dinner. It was a big success with 200 meals served. If you weren t there you missed some great food and entertainment. We have lots of activities planned for the Spring. The first event will be the S.A.L. steak night on March 3 rd, followed by St. Patrick s Day festivities. Jim Fredrick is working on some Irish shenanigans and drinks specials. Then we have the big event, the Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home on March 27. Last year s event was such a big success, the city of Carmel, VFW, and Post 155 wanted to do it again. While we are specifically honoring the Vietnam Veterans, all veterans are encouraged to attend. See the flyer for all the pertinent details. The Treasure Hunt game has finally started growing and hopefully by the time you read this it will be over $10,000. The crowd on Friday nights is starting to grow. This is good news! We are going to start setting up a beer bar on Fridays to help reduce lines at the bar. I am asking the volunteers on the gaming license to stop by one Friday a quarter for 30 minutes to sell a tip board. The tip boards will add some extra fun and excitement before the big drawing on Friday nights. The scholarship committee is taking applications. You can download the application from the website or pick one up at the post. This is a great opportunity to help some deserving students with their college plans. It is almost election time. Please start thinking about who you want to be on next year s leadership team. The first round of nominations will be at the April general membership meeting. The second round will be at the May general membership meeting. Elections will be held on May 19 th and 20 th. The spring will be busy. I look forward to seeing you at the Post. In addition to socializing as winter draws to a close, there are plenty of ways to help further the Post s mission. Ask any of our leadership team if you would like ideas. PAGE 2 AMERICAN LEGION POST 155 NEWSLETTER 852 W MAIN Greetings to all, The Auxiliary has been pretty quiet lately but have some upcoming events planned. We will be having the children s Easter party on March 24th from 1 to 2:30. We will be having our next prime rib dinner for the Bowen house on May 19th from 6 to 8 with entertainment following. We are also planning a barbeque for the HVAF veterans this summer. If there is anything the auxiliary can do to help around the post or your group please let us know. Our meetings are the second Monday of the month and we will be happy to consider your request to see if we can make it work for you. Our next meetings are March 12th and April 9th. Take care, Karen Todd President HVAF (Hoosier Veterans Assistance Foundation) These are our usually slow months. Still collecting food, personal hygiene items, clothes and shoes.
