COMPETITION ETIQUTTE FOR COMPETITORS AND COACHES Coaches should remind all competitors and their supporting spectators, that all officials and those who are assisting should be treated with respect. The correct Dojo etiquette should be displayed at all times during the course of the event. Any competitor who is showing an incorrect manner or attitude towards the officials or their competitor may be banned from the day s events and will reflect on their dojo and instructor s. When events are called, competitors should go the designated Tatami area as quickly as possible. Competitors will only be called 3 times, before they are taken off from the event. If competitors arrive during the event, they will not be allowed to compete, so please ensure that all competitors are ready when their events are called. Only competitors and coaches will be allowed by the Tatami competition mats, not the officials table. Competitors will only be allowed in the competition area if their event has been called. Competitors and spectators must remain in the seating areas or away from the competition area. All competitors must have a have a valid license and insurance to compete, and must be available for proof of age and grade. KATA RULES The score card system will be used for the Kata event. INDIVIDUAL KATA Two rounds with compulsory Kata in the first round. A DIFFERENT KATA MUST BE PERFORMED IN THE 2 nd ROUND 9 th 4 th Kyu (All ages) Pinan Nidan (Round 2 - Different Kata) 3 rd Kyu & Above (All ages) Pinan Godan (Round 2 - Different Kata) KUMITE RULES The competition will be run as close to WKF rules as practicable. All bouts will be 1 min 30 seconds, except for all finals in the Cadets categories and above, which will be 2 mins. CATEGORIES MAY BE ALTERED, COMBINED OR CANCELLED ACCORDING TO CATEGORY SIZES. EQUIPMENT COMPULSORY Red/Blue belts Red/ Blue mitts Gum shields Groin Guard (Male) Chest Guard (Female) OPTIONAL Red/Blue Shin and Instep Body Protector Face Marks SCORING AND CONTROL Scoring will be unlimited over the duration of the bout, but any competitors with an 8 point lead will be declared the winner. All techniques must be controlled and the correct etiquette must be displayed throughout the entire bout. Punches or strikes to the head or face for Children under the age of 16 years, which make contact are not allowed. The score will not be given and may result in being penalised.
