NISC Championship Meet A Division July 27, 2011 Lincolnwood Parks and Recreation, Lightning Swim Club will be hosting the 2011 NISC A Division Championship Meet on Wednesday, July 27, 2011. This meet will be conducted in accordance with the NISC Rules and By-laws. Warm-ups will begin at 1:15. Competition will begin at 3:00 PM. Parking Parking is available in the parking lot on the west side of the pool, or on the street west of the pool. You may also park on Lincoln Avenue, (northeast side of the pool). Do not park in the L. Woods s Restaurant parking lot you will be towed. (Unless you are eating, They have GREAT FOOD!!) Refer to the Site Map at the end of this Meet Packet HOSPITALITY: A coaches and volunteer hospitality area will be provided. ADMISSION, HEAT SHEETS & T-SHIRTS: Admission is free. Team Areas are on the south side of the pool. Entrance to the facility will only be through the fence on the South East side of the pool. ( Refer to the Site Map at the end of this Meet Packet ) Swimmers are asked to remain in the team staging area, unless participating in an event. Swimmers needing entry to the pool deck during events may enter the pool through the bullpen area, located on the east side of the pool deck Heat sheets will be on sale at the gate entrance to the pool for $2.00 each, T-shirts in the concession area. POOL INFORMATION: 25-meter, six-lane, outdoor pool, with starting blocks. 8 and under events will start in the deep end of the pool without starting blocks except for the 50 free. We will use 3 watches per lane. For timer & lane information, read the Volunteer Section. We will need 6-8 officials please notify Jim Schick if your team has any interested officials. FIRST AID First aid is available for all patrons. First aid is located in the pool office at the south end of the pool between the concession area and locker rooms. NISC SUMMER 2011 DUAL MEET RESULTS: All NISC A Division host teams must e-mail MM Back Up to: Jim Schick by the Friday following each of your NISC Dual Meets according to NISC Rules. Meet results must be sent as a MM Bk up File & must be submitted via e-mail attachment to: babaramdas@comcast.net. Results cannot be entered in the conference database without the birthdates of all the swimmers. If your team has had a dual meet with another NISC team in divisions B or C, please send those results as well. If you did not host a meet, but wish to insure that we have all of your team s results, feel free to send those as well. If all meet results are not submitted, times cannot be verified 1
Events and times must be verified, swimmers will NOT be allowed to participate in the championship meet, without verified times. Events swam without verified times will be seeded as NT. SWIMMER ELIGIBITLITY: A swimmer s age at 11:59 PM on June 15, 2011 will be used to determine his/her age for this meet. All swimmers must have swum individual events in at least two NISC interagency meets in order to qualify for this championship meet. Intra-squad, USA, YMCA and/or non-nisc dual meets are ineligible. 8 and under swimmers may participate in one interagency meet to qualify for this championship meet. Swimmers may swim a maximum of 3 individual and 1 relay, or 2 individual and 2 relay events. A swimmer may swim in a higher age group, but may not swim in a lower age group. A swimmer may not swim the same / corresponding events in two different age groups. Each team may enter a maximum of two swimmers in each individual event and one relay in each relay event. Body-writing is not allowed at any NISC interagency competition. Events, however, can be written on each swimmer's hand CHAMPIONSHIP MEET ENTRIES: The meet will be run using Meet Manager for Windows. Meet entries should be submitted in meter times as Entries for Meet Manager merge of same meet. Meet entries must be submitted via e-mail attachments to: l.gross7000@comcast.net. All meet entries MUST include the date of the NISC interagency meet at which they achieved that time. All meet entries MUST be received by 1:00PM Friday, July 22, 2011. This is to allow for verification of times and eligibility and for the production of heat sheets. Any entries received after the deadline will be seeded as NT, no exceptions. The NISC may also impose a $50 fine per day for late entries. LLSC will NOT seek entries that are not received by the deadline. All entries will be loaded into Meet Manager over the weekend. Please provide a completed lineup spreadsheet including the meet name and date where the actual time that was achieved, even if you are also providing the lineup in the Meet Manager file format. This is to insure that no entries are missed. You may use the lineup forms provided with this packet or another form, as long as all entries are clearly legible. 2
If you have Team Manager and enter your lineups in the program, you can e-mail a Meet Entries report but please be sure to check the box to show unconverted times and include proof of time. Provided there are no problems with the entries, a complete lineup will be e-mailed to you on Monday, July 25, 2011. Please also supply us with a telephone number where your team contact can be reached over the weekend. TIMES: To be eligible for this meet, swims & seed times must have been swam in a NISC interagency meet during the current season. NT s are allowed in events where your swimmer has no time in that particular event. PLEASE REMEMBER: After you enter in MM: You will have to write out the NISC Conference Lineup sheets provided or submit the TM Meet Entries report. All times in the MM entry must be in meters. If you are converting times from yards to meters, you must list both the original time and the converted time on the written spread sheet SEED/SCRATCH MEETINGS: There will not be a seed meeting. A scratch meeting will be held in the multi-purpose room 2 PM. Seeding will be on the basis of submitted, verified times. The fastest time will be seeded in lane 3, then 4, 2, 5, 1 and 6. There will be a maximum of two heats per event, with the slower heat swimming first. There will be no exhibition heats or swimmers. TIMER SHEETS: Timer sheets will be used and provided by LLSC. Coaches and swimmers are encouraged to listen to the announcements regarding the events called to report to the bullpen. Late warm-ups and warm downs will be allowed under the supervision of a qualified coach, in the South end of the main pool in the roped off area. Absolutely NO PLAYING in the South end of the pool. Warm Up & Warm Down only, Swimmers may be ejected from the pool. Warm-ups may be conducted by the coaches under the following safety guidelines: Feet first entry only, during general warm-up. Starts must be supervised by a coach from each team. Swimmers must not attempt a deck or block (forward or back) start if there is a swimmer in the starting area of the water in that lane. Swimmers may swim in one direction only in lanes being used as sprint lanes and must exit the pool upon completion of a length. Coaches are required to instruct their swimmers about these safety requirements. No playing in the pool at any time during the conference meet. Any coaches and/or swimmers found violating these safety rules may be removed from the warm-up area. AWARDS: First and second place trophies will be awarded to the top two scoring teams. Medals shall be awarded for first place and rosette ribbons shall be awarded for second through sixth place in individual events. Please bring your own tent or canopy to shade your team. We will be operating a bullpen and each team will be responsible for getting their swimmers to the bullpen when their events are called. Also, Each team will be responsible for providing a bull-pen supervisor as listed in the Volunteer section below. The current event number will be posted and announced. All swimmers should enter through the east gate to the Bull Pen. PLEASE BE PREPARED! VIEWING AREA There will be bleachers set up at the North end of the pool. Viewers may also bring their own chairs as long as deck space remains available. Please remind your parents that they are not allowed in the bullpen or near the starting blocks or in the other pools (Refer the site Map). 4
FOOD & CONCESSIONS: Lincolnwood Parks and Recreation will operate a concession stand. Food and coolers are not allowed in any area on the pool deck. To accommodate patrons, Lincolnwood Parks and Recreation does allow coolers in the concession area of the pool. Glass is not allowed in any area of the pool at any time. VENDORS in the Concession Area: Conference T shirts will be available KIEFER will be available for any last minute needs VOLUNTEERS: Each team will be responsible for providing timers and stopwatches for one lane during the entire meet. Three timers must be provided for each team s designated lane. Bring extra watches, in case of watch malfunctions. Lane assignments are: Lane 1 Elgin Lane 2 Buffalo Grove Lane 3 Lincolnwood Lane 4 River Trails Lane 5 Mt Prospect Lane 6 Round Lake Each team will label their own ribbons and medals in the main building.next to the concession area. Each team will be responsible for providing a bull-pen supervisor as follows: 2:30 to 5 PM Lincolnwood, River Trails, Round Lake 5 Pm to end of meet Buffalo Grove, Mt Prospect, Elgin Volunteers do not have to work the entire meet if their respective teams prefer to work in shifts. Volunteers may receive food and drink (bottled water) from hospitality. WE WILL NOT START THE MEET UNTIL ALL TEAMS PROVIDE THE REQUIRED VOLUNTEERS. GENERAL SAFETY: This may be a very crowded meet and strict safety rules will be enforced. These will include: Warm-up rules as indicated above. No running on deck. No playing in the zero depth pool and kiddie pool. No playing in the locker rooms. No playing, standing or sitting on the diving boards. No playing with any equipment on or near the pool deck. No climbing on or over the railings or fences. Any person, swimmer or adult, in violation of these safety rules, or who disobeys the instructions of lifeguards or pool staff may, without prior warning, may be removed from the remainder of the meet. Our lifeguards and pool staff have full authority to stop the meet, if it becomes necessary, to enforce these safety rules. Anyone noticing a potential safety hazard should immediately bring it to the attention of a Lincolnwood Parks and Recreation staff member. 5
