At the bottom of the transition (closest to the water) there will be a team box where hand offs will take place. The biker can have all her bike gear (shoes, helmet, etc.) on in the team box, but the bike must be on the designated Team Bike Rack. The team bike racks will be located close to the team box. Once the chip is passed from the swimmer, the biker will need to grab her bike off the bike rack. When the biker returns, the runner should have her run gear on, including the race bib and be ready to go in the team box. The biker will rack her bike and hand off to the runner. The runner can go straight to the run course. 7

TIMING/ BODY MARKING/ MEDICAL SUPPORT SUSTAINABILITY ZERO WASTE COMMITMENT In 2014 the WIN for KC Triathlon was certified Gold by the Council for Responsible Sport for our commitment to sustainability. Events can produce a lot of waste - on average, 2.5 pounds per visitor! Recycling and composting can greatly reduce trash volumes and divert hundreds of pounds of waste from the landfill. CARPOOL: Everyone is encouraged to CARPOOL. This will help alleviate your stress on race day and support our Going Green efforts! The WIN for KC Women s Triathlon is GREENED by HOK, Missouri Organic, and Henderson Engineers, Inc. The WIN for KC Women s Triathlon is certified as a Green event through the Council for Responsible Sport, an organization that provides an independent, comprehensive certification for sustainable athletic events. This not only helps to reduce our carbon footprint, but alleviates any parking problems for participants/spectators on race morning. Please tell your friends/family coming to support you to carpool as well! RECYCLE & COMPOST: Please assist the Triathlon Green Team on race morning by using the marked containers for the recycling of plastic, glass, cardboard and aluminum. In addition, we will be composting fruit waste and the appropriate plates, cups, napkins and utensils that are biodegradable. RECYCLE YOUR RACE BIB: If you don t plan to proudly display your customized race bib after the race, please recycle it! CONSIDER CAMPING: If you re looking for a place to stay closer to the race site, consider camping. Clay County Parks and Rec offers a variety of camping opportunities very close to the race site. Body Marking Your first stop when you arrive at the race will be body marking. The body marking area is on Paradise Rd. just before the transition area. Bring your race number with you. Get your body marked early to be sure you get it done. Put sunscreen on after body marking. You will have your race number on both arms, and your age group on your calf. Body marking is the triathlete s badge of honor, wear it proudly! Timing and Timing Devices Timing devices will be distributed at packet pick-up. You must wear your timing device during the race! The timing device captures your time for the race. The chip is on the Velcro strap that wraps around your LEFT ANKLE so it is clear of your chain ring while biking. If your chip is lost or forgotten race morning, please visit the Ultramax trailer just West of the Finish Line. Medical Support WIN for KC Triathlon Medical Director Dr. Lori Boyajian - O Neill will lead a medical support team for the event. They will have a medical tent near the gazebo at the race headquarters and have additional support throughout the race course. If you need immediate medical attention on the course, please alert the nearest volunteer and they will contact the medical team. WIN for KC Triathlon and Duathlon sponsor Epic Bike and Sport will be onsite to provide any last minute mechanical support. They will be located near the bike in/out. A Special Thank You Thank you to Global Event Medicine, Northland Regional Ambulance District, Clay County Parks and Recreation, KC Northland ARES and the Clay County Sherrif s Department for all of their hard work and preparation in making the WIN for KC Triathlon and Duathlon a fun and safe event for all in attendance. 8 NO DEVICE = NO TIME = NO RESULTS 9
