Pilot Cycles was founded by two avid bike lovers, based in the cycling heartland of The Netherlands: the winding roads and rolling forest trails of Brabant. There, during one of their many discussions about frame details, they decided to start their own bike brand. They had to do it their selves, because what they like did not exist. Their philosophy: custom all the way, to create truly individual bikes for truly individual riders. Tailor made in every detail. Titanium was their obvious choice. Co-founder/owner Joris Claessens: Before I started with Pilot Cycles, I owned a sports bike shop. There, through intensive contact with my customers, I learned that there is a huge demand for high-end bikes that can be customized to the very last detail. Co-founder/owner Pieter van der Marel: My professional roots are in engineering, design and marketing. Combined with my never ending urge to improve my ride, it was inevitable that I would sooner or later create my own bike brand. 2

PERSONAL DESIGN According to your personal wishes, riding style and ideas we ll create an entirely new design that will fit you like the proverbial glove. That s one way to reach your goal of having the most perfect bike possible. The other is, that we use a proven geometry that has already deserved its honours on or off-road. Maybe the bike you re currently riding and that you came attached to? With or without some tweaks in geometry, we ll create you a titanium version of your beloved ride. AEROSPACE QUALITY Our frames are handcrafted from highgrade aerospace titanium, with double butted, tapered and hydroformed tubing. Light, strong and durable. And, naturally, with a life time warranty. TAILOR MADE As for the build of your bike, you ll have all freedom in choosing your preferred frame componentry, from bearing housing and cable guides to fitting all wheels and drive trains. Although fully customized, we ll see to it that all parts on your personal build will function in perfect unity with one another. STOCK MODELS Not everybody will need a custom built frame. For these titanium enthusiasts we are offering a well thought out series of stock bikes with tried and trusted geometries and proven components. Our stock frames, which feature the same high-end tubing and superior build quality as our custom frames, will allow you to enjoy the superior riding experience of titanium at a very attractive price point. VETURI ENDURANCE RACER On the VETURI, the most gruesome long distance race just feels as the average Sunday morning ride with your mates. That s not just because we used sophisticated double butted and hydro formed tubing, but also because we got the geometry dialed in for the rough stuff, using a longer head tube and some nicely curved seat stays to give more comfort. TIMELESS TITANIUM While we call our frames titanium, pure titanium doesn t have the right properties for frame building. Therefore, we do use double butted tubes drawn from an alloy in which titanium is enriched with 3% aluminium and 2.5% vanadium. This Ti-3Al-2.5V called aerospace grade alloy is both lightweight and strong: 40% lighter than steel. This results in a high strength-to-weight ratio, which provides a major advantage for frame builders saving weight without sacrificing strength. Unlike aluminium, another often used material in frame building, titanium doesn t suffer from metal fatigue. But with titanium it s not just the numbers that count. Just as important are the looks. And who will disagree with us as we say the looks are just stunning! 18
