The Cubs have turned in a 22-15 record in the last five-plus weeks starting July 28, the sixth-best mark in the majors and the secondbest mark in the N.L. behind only Washington (22-14/.611). SOLER S START: Outfielder Jorge Soler is the first Cub to hit safely in his first seven career games since Junior Lake, July 19-25, 2013 the last Cub to hit safely in at least his first eight career games is Andy Pafko, who in 1943 began his major league career by hitting safely in his first nine games for Chicago thanks to Ed Hartig for his research assistance. Soler is just the second Cub in franchise history to have 10 or more RBI in his first seven career games, joining Mandy Brooks, who had 12 RBI in his first seven games from May 30-June 7, 1925. Additionally, Soler is the first player since the Yankees Joe Buzas in 1945 to record at least one RBI and/or one extra-base hit in each of his first seven career games. RIZZO REACHES 30: Anthony Rizzo has 30 home runs this season, just the seventh Cubs left-handed batter to reach the milestone in a season, and the first since Fred McGriff hit 30 in 2002 overall, a Cubs left-handed hitter has reached the 30- homer mark 11 times in franchise history, done five times by Hall of Famer Billy Williams (1964-65, 1968, 1970, 1972).
