After a long day of sailing the ocean Seri and Falli finally found an island with a nice beach to camp on for the night. They weighed anchor and unloaded supplies off the pirate ship. 3
The next morning Seri woke up to find that their pirate ship was now anchored in the middle of the ocean. Their big beach had turned into a deserted island over night! Falli! Wake up! Look at how far away our ship is. How are we going to get back? 4
We can just swim to the boat. Falli said. Just as Falli was about to jump into the water a great big shark popped out of the water. Are you going to be my breakfast? Asked the shark. 5 Maybe we won t be swimming to the boat after all. Seri replied disappointed.
Now that Seri and Falli knew that there were sharks in the water they could not swim back to the ship. How were they going to get back to their ship? 6
Looking through the supplies that they brought with them to the beach Seri and Falli figured out that they could build a raft. 7
Working together, Seri and Falli ripped apart their chest and started to build a raft to row back to the pirate ship. 8
Crossing their fingers they pushed the raft into the water. It floated! Seri and Falli gave each other a high five to congratulate one another on a good job done. They did not see the shark eyeing their little raft. Mmm, breakfast The shark rumbled. 9
Theraftmadealoudcrunchingsoundasthesharktookabigbite out of it. Seri and Falli stood in shock as all their hard work sank to the bottom of the ocean. Now what were they going to do? 10
I know what we can do. Seri shouted, "We can throw stuff into the water that will float and then jump from object to object to reach our pirate ship. Falli didn t think it would work very well but there was nothing else that they could think to do. They started to collect logs, planks, barrels and a turtle. A turtle? Falli asked. 11 Yup. It s perfect. He can float us the rest of the way to the boat. Seri replied.
Once they had gathered everything up, they began to hop across the ocean towards their ship. Falli led the way dropping objects in the water to jump onto. The poor shark watched confused as his breakfast hopped across the water. 12
By working together to come up with a plan Seri and Falli were able to jump from object to object and make it safely back to their pirate ship. 13
They pulled up their anchor and set sail to explore a new part of the world. They called the island Shrinking Island because it had started out as one big island but turned into many small islands overnight. They promised never to land again on its beach. 14
