Whether you are a swimming novice or more experienced in the water, our new and improved swim lessons provide water safety training and skills to enhance swimming ability. The latest evolution of Y Swim Lessons helps to foster a sense of achievement as swimmers progress between levels. Through this approach, advanced swimmers flow more easily to higher levels while swimmers who need more instruction learn at their own pace. The results are more confident swimmers who stick with lessons and develop a love for swimming that lasts a lifetime. SWIM STARTERS Accompanied by a parent, infants and toddlers learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills through fun and confidence-building experiences, while parents learn about water safety, drowning prevention, and the importance of supervision. SWIM BASICS Students learn personal water safety and achieve basic swimming competency by learning two benchmark skills: Swim, float, swim sequencing front glide, roll, back float, roll, front glide, and exit Jump, push, turn, grab A / WATER DISCOVERY Parents accompany children in stage A, which introduces infants and toddlers to the aquatic environment through exploration and encourages them to enjoy themselves while learning about the water. This stage also introduces rhythmic breathing and integrated arm and leg action. The emphasis on water safety continues through treading water and sidestroke. PRIVATE & SEMI-PRIVATE LESSONS Ages 3 years & up Private lessons provide one-on-one or one-to-two swim instruction and are open to all abilities. They are available weekly, in half-hour blocks and run the duration of the session. Registration is by lesson, first come, first served. Child must be able to swim 50 yards continuously without a flotation device and must be able to follow instructions. Completion of Stage 6 / Stroke mechanics preferred. WATER FITNESS CLASSES Ages 14 years & up (members only) AQUAFIT I This class includes low/high intensity cardiovascular work and exercise that enhances muscle tone and flexibility. Safety and proper form are emphasized in a relaxed, fun atmosphere. Non-swimmers are welcome. Splashing, stretching, twisting, hooting and hollering are often heard during an Aqua Zumba class. Integrating the Zumba formula and philosophy with traditional aqua fitness disciplines, the Aqua Zumba class blends it all together into a safe, challenging, water-based workout that s cardio-conditioning, body-toning, and most of all, exhilarating beyond belief.
