We will host a safety briefing the day before your flight to Antarctica. Here, you will meet fellow marathon runners and our team will ensure that all last-minute arrangements are taken care of. A final weather update determines the exact departure time for the flight south to Antarctica.

TRAVEL South Africa to Antarctica Fly to Antarctica in the height of luxury. A spacious Gulfstream 550 delivers you to the start line rested and ready to race. We fly over thousands of icebergs and, as we cross over the Antarctic Circle, we pass into 24 hours of continuous sunshine. The course is four laps of a dramatic 10.55km loop, which passes by kilometre-high monoliths of rock and stunning ice cliffs. For more information, please contact a member of the White Desert team. The running surface is compacted ice prepared by snow groomers, with no requirement for snowshoes or crampons. Snow running shoes are available from many of the top brands and will be more than adequate.
70 o 46 37 S 11 o 49 26 E MARATHON ROUTE HENRIKSEN NUNATAKS Timing and Tracking You will have a maximum of 5 hours to complete the route. Each runner will be issued with an individual tracking unit fitted with an SOS button should any emergencies arise. 3,5km Nutrition On the Jet A nutritious meal will be served 3 hours before landing at Wolf s Fang runway. On Course A feeding station will be at the start-finish line, and available on each race loop. Three remote drink stations will be set up on course where runners can drink and refill hydration packs or refillable containers. 2km 2km The feeding station will be fully stocked and you can expect protein/cereal bars, dateballs, savoury sandwiches, boiled potatoes, bananas, energy bars and chocolates. RACE HQ 3 WATER POINTS feeding station ROVING 4X4 SUPPORT START / FINISH We support the #icarrymyown movement which encourages runners to minimise waste by carrying refillable water containers. 3km RUNWAY At the finish line After crossing the finish line for the final time, runners will be wrapped in warm down clothing and be given a nutrition hamper to get the recovery process started. A meal will also be served on the jet on the flight back.
