Carolinas GHIN Support Answers to Common Questions About Tournament Pairing Program (TPP) Below are answers to common questions we have been getting from Carolinas GHIN golf clubs about the Tournament Pairing Program (TPP). Please review and we highly recommend printing out this document for future reference. Do not us any of the menu options labeled via GHIN Handicap Program. (unless you are a dial-up club). There are other options you should select to perform the desired functions. See tip items that follow. Only clubs with the client version (those with dial-up internet access) of the GHIN Handicap Program can successfully use the via GHIN Handicap Program menu options. These menu options appear under: a. Players Add/Remove via GHIN Handicap Program; b. Players Update Handicap Indexes via GHIN Handicap Program; c. Scoring Post Scores to GHIN Handicap Program. It also appears in a new window once golfers are added to an event as Get Members H.I.. If you click on this button, you will get an error that the GHIN Handicap Program cannot be found on the computer. It is necessary to Update Handicap Indexes each time your club runs a net or handicapped event. Step 1 - This should be done through Players Update Handicap Indexes Via Inquiry (All Golfers).
Step 2 - In the next window that opens choose the following settings: a. Inquiry Method should be set All Golfers b. Revision Date should be set to either the <Use Current Revision> option or a date of your choosing. c. Multi-Member Handicap Index should be set to Select from List (if H.I. Different) Step 3 - Click OK to update the handicap indexes. How to add a club member into a TPP tournament (if the member is not already in the Master Player list) Step 1 - Go to Players Other Add/Remove Player Options Add/Remove Players via Club List. Step 2 Highlight the name of the member you want to add to the tournament in the left Available box and click on the arrow pointing to the right to move them into the Selected box and then click Close. After a golfer has been entered into one tournament they will be included in the Master Player List and can be added to future tournaments via Add/Remove from Master Player List. How to denote a player s default tournament tee and then easily reassign them in a tournament Step 1 Go to Players Master Player List Options Management Step 2 In the State field, enter their default tournament tee (i.e. Gold, Red, White, etc.) Note: State is a field not normally used by a golf club in tournaments. This will not overwrite their State information in the handicap program.
Step 3 Once you have entered that player in an event, go to Course Reassign Tees. Step 4 For Sort By choose State. This will show the golfer with their default tee you entered in Master Player List Management.
Step 5 Use the Ctrl or Shift keys to select mulitple golfers, then click the tee you wish to change them to and click Apply. If you are creating an individual event, you do not need to create teams. You only need to add players and create pairings. A lot of clubs mistakenly use teams as the as the means to create pairings and then try to print scorecards without making pairings. Scorecard printing will not work without having pairings built for the tournament. How to use Trend Handicap Index Step 1 Go to Players Update Handicap Indexes Via Inquiry (all golfers). Step 2 Select the golfers you wish to update. Step 3 Change the Revision Date to the date of the next revision (the 1 st or 15 th ). Step 4 Click Ok. The program will Inquiry each player s Trend Handicap Index. Additional scorecards and reports can be imported From time to time other clubs or associations design new templates for reports and scorecards that they are willing to share with others. Upon approval, GHIN makes these available for download to all other member clubs.
For scorecards: Go to Scorecards Import from GHIN Server Note: Click on the checkbox at the bottom of the window to create unique name for the imported scorecards so they do not overwrite any custom card you may have created that has the same name. For reports: Go to Reports Import from GHIN Server Note: Click on the checkbox at the bottom of the window to create unique name for the imported scorecards so they do not overwrite any custom card you may have created that has the same name. Scorecard and Cart Sign templates to use with old GolfNet pre-printed stock The next time you import reports from the GHIN Server as described in the tip above, you will find two reports shown below that may allow you to make limited use of old GolfNet paper stock. When downloaded both of the templates will be available in the Reports menu. Note: These custom report templates are not easily modified. Also, the scorecard template will not be to accommodate handicap dots on the printout. Try them out and utilize them at your discretion. Assign Players and Teams for Skins Player Skins Step 1 - Go to Players Other Tournament Player Options Assign Players for Skins. Step 2 - Choose the boxes under the Assign header to assign all players to Gross, Net or Both. (Note: you can individually select or deselect these options for players who have chosen to opt out of skins by using the individual checkboxes for each player) Team Skins Step 1 - Go to Teams Assign Teams for Skins.
