You'll find the NTOA on Stand C14 in the Great Hall of Alexandra Palace this weekend! The current plan is to have a Dead Cat Bounce on display, alongside a number of N12 enthusiasts who will be promoting our fantastic dinghy class. Read the complete Dinghy Show guide here Let us know if you'd like to help out on the stand by replying to this email. 2018 Gul Series Preview The National 12's generous sponsorship by Gul continues into 2018. As well as winners on the water, prizes are also available for newcomers, families, cadets and older boats. With a range of waters and locations, the 2018 Gul Series offers something for everyone. So check out the events below and get them in your 2018 diaries! 1. Burghfield SC - 17th March 2018 A sprint championships to get the season started, meaning lots of short races during the day, giving a chance to fine tune and get lots of starts in! Burghfield SC is also easy to access to just off the M4. 2. Trent Valley SC - 15th April 2018 Another one day Gul Event. Trent Valley is based on the river and offers competitive sailing for all types of National 12, from the vintage to the double bottomed and foiling varieties. Be sure to leave some room for the delicious cake after sailing! 3. Salcombe YC - 5th-7th May 2018 (Bank Holiday Weekend) The Gul Series returns to Salcombe for some beautiful estuary sailing. A late start on the Saturday and an earlier one of the Monday allows time for travelling. Two races on Sunday with pasties on the beach. Make sure you 2 of 11 11/03/2018, 22:23
4. Shoreham SC - 19th-20th May 2018 (NOW CANCELLED) We were expecting some exciting sea sailing and a friendly welcome from this south coast club, however due to ongoing and overrunning construction work on their new slipway, they've had to pull out of hosting. Don't worry though, as we'll be shore to return! 5. Royal Harwich YC - 14th-15th July 2018 A National 12 estuary favourite on the east coast just before the school holidays. Expect fleet racing on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, with a pursuit race on Sunday morning. There will be Finn and Phantom sailors joining us for the event (although on a separate race course). As always there will be free onsite camping! National 12 Gul Series at RHYC in 2017. 6. Brixham YC - Burton Week - 18th-21st August 2018 The big Gul event of the year - The National Championships. With prizes across the fleet, competitive racing each day and a range of socials including the much loved Burton dinner, this promises to be a great event. 7. Solway YC - 22nd-23rd September 2018 Enjoy a mixture of estuary and river sailing on the Scottish Solway Firth. However you must remember which way you're going for the Palnackie Race as the river has some big bends! 8. Ripon SC - 6th October 2018 A family favourite and a great opportunity to enjoy Yorkshire's finest inland sailing. If you want to make a weekend of it, stay over and race at the Yeadon N12 Open on the Sunday! 9. Northampton SC - 3rd-4th November 2018 The ever popular and well attended N12 season finale and Inland Championships.There will be some fantastic reservoir sailing, brilliant food, fireworks, a bonfire and a disco. Northampton's winter event has it all, although remember your firework, hat, gloves and scarfs! Camping available for those who wish to brave the chilly autumn evening... A busy start line at Northampton in 2017. Don't be shy, why not give the Gul Series a try! National 12 Summer Event Guide Bourne End Week - Upper Thames Sailing Club - 26th-30th May 2018 On site camping for 5 days of river sailing on the Thames in Buckinghamshire. A fantastic event with a range of National 12s normally taking part. Highlights will include watching Thames A Raters racing on the water they were built to race on! Yorkshire Ouse Weekend 2nd-3rd June 2018 On the Saturday, take part in the YOSC 80th Anniversary Regatta and on the 4 of 11 11/03/2018, 22:23
for the ANEYC Trophy. A large N12 turnout is expected, be prepared to see some vintage National 12 sailing! The Naburn Paddle in 2004 12 Fest - Rutland Sailing Club - 9th-10th June 2018 Steve Irish will once again be joining us to help everyone get the best out of their National 12. You can expect helpful advice from current and past National Champions and the weekend is the perfect opportunity for those with younger children to introduce them into the front (or back) of a National 12, away from a serious racing environment but alongside other National 12s. There might even be opportunities for boat swapping too. Forgotten how good it was in 2017? Remind yourself by watching the video, here. Vintage Championships and Derwent Handicap - 16th-17th June 2018 Once again we're looking to increase participation at this event. Get in touch if you're interested but don't have a boat to sail. If you have a vintage boat, put the date in your diary now. If you're restoring a vintage National 12, set your completion deadline to a month before and you might just make the start! Salcombe Gin SYC Regatta - 5th-10th August 2018 The second of two summer sailing weeks that feature a National 12 start. With one race per day, combine the week with a family holiday as you enjoy ice creams on the beach! This week is increasingly popular with some of the top National 12 sailors, so its the perfect warm up for Burton Week! A very sunny Salcombe during the Salcombe Gin SYC Regatta in 2017. Burton Week - Brixham Yacht Club - 18th-21st August 2018 As described in the Gul Series section, the biggest National 12 event of the year! Why not stay in Devon for a few days after and make a holiday out of it? Northern and Scottish N12 Open Meetings The N12 Northern and Scottish Series remain popular, especially with older designs of National 12s. The Best of The Rest - N12 Opens in 2018 We're still waiting for the details of some National 12 Open Meetings this year, but ones not to miss out on are: National 12s at the Hamble Warming Pan - 24th-25th March 2018 The National 12s have been invited back to the Hamble Warming Pan and will have our own start again. Use the oen day Gul event the Saturday before to warm up for the weekend of sailing on the River Hamble.
