2018 UNM Zia Marching Fiesta Policy Changes Performance Times and Schedule Organization: 1. Each band will be allocated a 15 minute performance slot 2. The performance schedule will be organized by class. Class A will perform at the beginning of the event, followed by progressively larger class sizes. The previous year s grand champion, regardless of class, will have the option to perform last. The New Mexico Grand Champion (if different) has the option of performing next to last. 3. All classes (A AAAA) will be represented in the evening (finals) schedule. If the top scoring band from any class does not make finals competition, that band will appear in exhibition performance immediately preceding the finals competition schedule. 4. In the event bands from two classes perform in finals exhibition, the band from the smaller class will perform first (6:30) Format and Pricing: 5. A non-competitive participation option has been added to the event. The Zia Fiesta will utilize the Albuquerque Public Schools Marching Performance Assessment adjudication sheet in this track of participation. 6. The non-competitive track will utilize three judges located on Zia Level 2. 7. Entry fee for the non-competitive participation track will be $250.00. 8. The competitive track (BOA Format) has been retained, but the entry fee has been reduced to $350.00 per band 9. The formula for field access passes has changed to 1 pass for every 9 band members. This should provide more passes to each group, and alleviate some cost associated with the event. Event Registration: 10. DEADLINE FOR ENTRY - Complete the Band Entry Form included in this application packet and send to the UNM Bands office postmarked or emailed no later than Friday, September 21, 2018. The first 30 bands will be accepted into the UNM Zia Marching Fiesta. 11. DRAWING FOR PLACEMENT - IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE IN THE DRAWING FOR PERFORMANCE PLACEMENT you must enter on or before Monday, July 16, by 9:00 am. 12. Application Forms may be sent by mail, email, or delivered in person to the band office. All COMPLETED entries received on or before Monday, July 16, by 9:00 am, will be placed in a drawing for performance order by classification. The lower the number the later your band will perform. For example, Number 1 in the draw will go last in that band's classification. The drawing will be held at 9:00 am Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in the band office at UNM.
