My great grandfather Angus McMouse came to America on a ship from Scotland. Please, tell us more about Scotland. Oh, Scotland is very interesting, let s sit down. And Colin started to explain: Scotland is the most northern country of Great Britain with around 790 islands near its coasts. But only on 130 of them you will find a few people. Scotland is well known for its beautiful landscapes, many beaches and a lot of lochs. The most famous loch in Scotland is Loch Ness. The largest city is Glasgow, but the capital city of Scotland is Edinburgh. Amanda: Amanda: That is very interesting, are there some more tourist attractions too? Oh yes! In Scotland there are many old castles, rocky coastlines from north to south, small villages and stylish cities. There are a lot of small harbour towns, lighthouses, a few sandy beaches and a lot of places to go sailing or wind surfing. But also too much wind and rain! Oh please, tell us more about the castles. Well, in Scotland, you are never far away from a castle. The most famous is Edinburgh Castle. In the West Highlands you can find cattle and many castles. The castles were built to protect the coasts. Kilts, thistles and haggis are typical Scottish and one must see the beautiful landscapes. Scotland is most famous for Scottish Whisky and much beer. The monster Nessie lives in Loch Ness. The bagpipe is the most typical Scottish musical instrument of the Scottish highlands! I understand, but why do you wear your today? Today is Tartan Day. "Tartan day? What does that mean?" "Tartan Day is a special day for Scots in America. Everybody who is Scottish can wear a and celebrate." Can we come with you?
