Boat Manual Make 1984 Endeavour Documentation No. 1257938 1 Name Bonnie Seas Length Beam 38 Feet 13 Feet Code E38 Draft 5 Feet Use this information along with the Discrepancy Report and the Basic Course Syllabus Engine Yanmar 3GMD 3 Cylinder Diesel Location/Access Under/behind companionway steps; unbolt steps up and slide out top to remove. Engine Cockpit Control Panel Starboard aft end of the cockpit combing, containing a tachometer, an ignition key switch, engine start button and an engine stop knob. Battery Switch Never turn any battery switch off while engine is running! Engine Hour Meter Fuel Gauge Ignition/Start Glow Plug Throttle Shift Shift at idle speeds only! Located on electrical panel at navigation station. Leave on BOTH when at slip plugged into shore power. None Below electrical panel at navigation station. Turn ignition key switch clockwise then push black start button. None: N/A Red lever on starboard side of steering pedestal. All back for idle. Forward for speed. Black lever on port side of steering pedestal. Back for reverse. Forward for forward. Engine Starting Warning! Never turn the battery switch to OFF while the engine is running! 1. Disconnect shore power. Turn Battery Switch to BOTH 2. Make sure shift is in neutral, throttle 30%, ignition on, engine stop handle/knob in completely. 3. Push and hold black start button until engine starts. If engine does not start within 5 sec., recheck that step 2 was performed exactly and retry. 4. Check the engine exhaust at the bottom of the transom to see that water is being exhausted out. Stop Engine Dipstick Check oil only if necessary. Black knob on Engine Control panel; pull out to stop engine. After engine has stopped, push Black knob back in, turn key to off position and remove to a safe location. On the Starboard side of engine. Remove companionway steps, to starboard side, find dipstick behind forward motor mount.

Electrical & Electronics 2 Electrical Panel Battery Switch Never turn any battery switch off while engine is running! Pedestal Cluster Instruments Located at Navigation Station, right side of panel is 115 VOLTS AC. Breakers on this panel all 115 volt systems on board and is powered by shore power only. This system only operates when shore power is plugged in and the AC MAIN is toggled ON. Left side of panel is 12 VOLTS DC. Switches on panel controls all 12 volt Located on electrical panel at navigation station. Leave on BOTH when at slip plugged into shore power. Battery selector has 1, 2 or BOTH positions. #1 is deep cycle. To activate the pedestal cluster instruments. 1. Turn on the BATTERY SELECTOR switch (SEE: Battery Switch ) 2. On the 12v DC Battery Power panel toggle on the desired system switch. There are 2 methods for charging the batteries on board. Battery Charging Both batteries require 2 to 4 hours to recharge when charge levels are low. Monitor battery levels frequently! (SEE: Monitoring Batteries ) At the end of charter, leave battery switch on BOTH! Shore Power: 1. Plug in Shore Power cord at the receptacle on the port side of the aft cockpit. Make sure it s plugged in and the AC breaker switch is ON at the Dock Box. 2. On the AC power panel toggle on the Master Breaker. 3. Toggle on the Battery Charger breaker. NOTE: Leave BATTERY SELECTOR on BOTH when at slip plugged into shore power. Charging Batteries with Engine: 1. Turn battery switch to BOTH. 2. Start the engine (See: Engine Starting). Let the engine run until it has warmed up. 3. Adjust the Throttle lever (SEE: Throttle ) until the tachometer (SEE: Engine Control Instruments) is between 1500 and 1800 rpm. After batteries are charged 13.5 to 14.5 volts and engine is off, turn BATTERY SELECTOR switch to 1 or 2. Monitoring Batteries Monitor battery levels frequently when using 12 volt services! After charter: leave battery switch on BOTH and CHARGER toggle ON. Battery Locations Instruments Helm & Companionway Method for monitoring battery level: NOTE: It is NOT necessary for battery switches to be ON to monitor batteries. Located on electrical panel at navigation station. Switch to left to check battery 1, right battery 2. Battery 1: Deep cycle battery located under port quarter berth. Battery 2: Located port quarter berth (with House Battery). Helm: B&G Multifunction Chartplotter with Navionics and Radar Companionway: B&G Autopilot, Depth/Boat Speed, TWS/TWA Instruments To activate instruments: 1. Turn on the House Batteries switch (SEE: Battery Switch ). 2. On the electrical control panel toggle on the correspondoing instrument switch. 3. Turn on each instrument.

Sails 3 Jib A slight amount of tension on the furling line while unrolling will make it easier to roll back up. Do not release Jib Halyard! Mainsail 130% Genoa. Roller furling line on port side. Main halyard located on starboard side of mast. Lazy Jacks installed on mainsail. Tankage Water Tanks Fuel Tank Do not leave fuel filler nozzle unattended when fueling! Holding Tank Valve to switch tanks located under galley sink. Tank 1 Tank location: port side. Fill fitting location: port side, midship. Capacity: 20 gallons. Tank 2 Tank location: starboard side. Fill fitting location: starboard side, midship. Capacity: 20 gallons. Tank Capacity 30 gallons. The tank is located aft of quarter berth bunk. Fuel filler cap is located on the port side, aft, on the cockpit combing. Tank vent is on port side of the transom. Located in head under the V-berth. Capacity: 15 gallons The pump out cap is located on the port side, forward near anchor locker. To pump out at pump out station no valves need to be opened. Pump out at sea: Not available. Head Make sure Head Intake valve, located under the port settee is open. The valve is open if the handle is perpendicular to the hull. Operations Nothing goes in the bowl that has not been consumed first except marine toilet paper! Direct Overboard Operate only when 3 miles out at sea. On discrepancy report that zip-tie has been cut. Staff will install new tie. Operates with salt or fresh water, switch located next to head. Fresh water operation will effect shower and sink water supply. 1. On the right side of the bowl is the pump and handle. 2. On the front of the pump is a selector valve with Dry & Flush on its face. 3. Pump the handle to wet the bowl. 4. After use, pump the handle 8 to 10 to empty the bowl. 5. When bowl is empty, turn the selector to the Dry position and pump handle until the bowl is dry. Leave selector on Dry when finished. 1. Locate Y-valve under head sink 2. Switch white hose to white hose for overboard. 3. Switch white hose to black hose for holding tank.

General Notes 4 To operate the stove: Stove When stove is not in use and at the end of cruise, turn off all switches and valves! 1. Turn on the propane tank located in the starboard aft lazarette by turning valve on top of the tank counter clockwise until valve is fully open. 2. Make sure House Battery switch is ON. 3. Switch on LPG on DC panel. 4. Located on front of stove is a LPG control switch. Toggle to ON position until a red light comes on. 5. On the stove select the burner knob to be used. 6. Push in selected burner knob and turn counter clockwise. An electric igniter will start sparking every couple seconds until gas lights. If no sparking (one burner is not sparking), use hand lighter in drawer. Oven pilot self lights. NOTE: If burner does not light, check tank for contents (should weigh about 35 lbs full). Repeat steps 1 thru 6. This unit is located aft of the galley stove. To activate the refrigerator/icebox: Refrigerator/ Icebox Monitor battery levels often when using this unit! 1. Turn on the House Batteries switch (SEE: Battery Switches) to position #1. 2. On the 12v DC Battery Power panel toggle on the Refrigerator breaker. 3. Inside of the refrigerator/icebox on the upper inboard corner is a small panel with a temperature control knob. 4. DO NOT ADJUST TEMPERATURE CONTROL ABOVE 2. THIS UNIT DRAWS A HIGH LOAD FROM THE BATTERIES. Anchors 2 located in bow anchor locker both have 50 of chain and 200 of rope, 250 feet total rode. Windlass foot switch located aft of locker. Power/breaker switch located on port side of companionway steps, low. Plastic Step Stool Stored in bow anchor locker and can be used to help reach the head of the mainsail and attach halyard as well as putting on the mainsail cover.
