Although the summer and competitive part of the pool season is over, some of the best temperatures for lap swimming are just beginning. During most of September the water temperature is in the low-80 s to mid-70 s and for those persons finishing their training for fall distance swimming events and triathlons, it s perfect. The pool is open for adult lap swimming Monday through Saturday from 5:30a until 9a and again in the afternoons from 5p to 7p. The pool will remain open for weekends during September with the same schedule as during the summer: 10am-9pm Saturday and 12 noon-8pm on Sunday. As September unfolds, two routine and annual occurrences begin. At the club, we begin the budget process for the next fiscal year which is the calendar year beginning January 1, 2017. Our committees and staff have already begun the budget process and have begun to compile their operational and capital budget requests. All members should make known to the responsible committee or staff as appropriate, any specific requests, especially for capital expenditures. If there is a question concerning to whom this request should be made, please send it to me and I will forward it to the appropriate committee or staff member. September is also the month when contacts begin to be made for charitable donations. As you wind down your year and plan year-end charitable donations, consider the club. Donations made to the club through the NC State Foundation are generally tax-deductible. For additional information or assistance, please contact us in the club office or check our website where additional information is housed on the Bright Future Ahead capital campaign page. We look forward to seeing you during the fall. Albert Weaver III Interim General Manager 7

Club News Welcome August Members!! Our Board of Directors, membership, and staff would like to extend a warm welcome to the new families who have joined the Club in the past month. UClub Captured Marie & Scott Himes Deborah Stewart Emily & Robert Jordan & Family 9 Pool Parties Only a few weekends left to hold a pool party! During pool hours: The maximum number of people for one party is 35 during regular pool hours. All guests of the pool must pay $5/ person Monday-Thursday and $10/person Friday-Sunday whether they are swimming or not. Outside of pool hours: In addition to the guest policy listed above, there are additional fees of $50 opening early/closing late fees. It is also required that there be a minimum of 2 guards at $16/ hour. All parties will be asked to obey pool rules and clean up after the party has finished. Payment of guest fees, rental fee, and lifeguard fees will go on the member s account and will be prepared by the manager on duty. For more information and the rental contract, please visit our website under the swim tab in activities or pick one up in the front office. Reservation Reminders Reservations and RSVP s are a necessary part of the food and beverage management structure that help to ensure that an appropriate amount of food has been ordered and prepared. Reservations also help to ensure that an adequate number of staff are scheduled to meet the level of service that our members and guests expect. At a recent member dining event, we received 40 reservations but had a total of 243 members and guests present for the evening. While we prefer that a reservation be made up to one week in advance, we always strive to accommodate all that dine with us. If we are notified at least one to two hours before, it is easier to provide the expected service level. All our events that specify an RSVP give a date by which we would like to be notified. This is a critical management tool needed to meet both individual and multi-person group expectations. Beautiful weather for our first On Tap & Uncorked on Friday, August 19. Dance Instructor, Debbie Ramsey showing the little kids how to hula at our Back to School Luau Bash that was held on Friday, August 26. University Club Ticket Swap Let s Be Friends! Henry Fullbright coloring his pillowcase from the American Red Cross s Pillowcase Project class that was held on Thursday, August 18. Seed spitting contest to celebrate National Watermelon Day! This year, we will be utilizing a different platform to facilitate the purchase and sale of NC State tickets. We have been making an effort in recent months to move towards more social-media based communication. The University Club is changing with the times! You can find our Facebook Page at www/facebook.com/ncsuclub to see all of our Facebook-only deals and discounts as well as updates on all the activity at the Club. To help our members buy and sell extra tickets, we have opened a Facebook page specifically for ticket swaps. You can find this page linked to the top of our main Facebook page, or at www.facebook.com/uclubtickets to be a part of the swap! Simply like both pages to begin posting your extra tickets and viewing tickets available for purchase. This change will allow our membership to experience more open communication. You will all be aware right away of available tickets and know when the tickets have already been sold, and you can personalize your notification settings and will be able to easily communicate problems to us through Facebook messaging. We understand that this is a new process and we encourage you to reach out to us with any questions or concerns. Your feedback is essential in creating a convenient and functional space for our members. Connect with us anytime! Follow & Like us on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter.
