Stetson Woods is slated to make the start on the mound for San Jose. Woods joined the Giants from Extended Spring Training today and will be making his California League debut. Home Cooking The Giants are currently in the midst of a season-high 10-game homestand (3-1 record thus far). San Jose began the homestand by winning three out of four games against the Visalia Rawhide in a series that concluded last night. Following the current series versus Modesto and an off day on Monday, the Giants host Stockton for three games. At 16-10, the Giants boast the best home record in the league. San Jose owns a 2.86 team ERA at Muni (4.10 on the road) and have lost only one home series this season. About Last Night San Francisco Giants rehab trio Madison Bumgarner, Alen Hanson and Joe Panik all made significant contributions in yesterday s 5-2 win over Visalia. Bumgarner started on the mound and pitched 4 2/3 innings with one run and two hits allowed. The four-time National League All-Star walked none and struck out seven during his 74-pitch outing. Bumgarner, who is recovering from a fractured pinky suffered during spring training, retired 13 out of the 16 batters he faced. Hanson (1-for-3, HR, 2 RBI) gave San Jose an early 2-0 lead with a firstinning two-run home run while Panik (2-for-4, 2B, RBI) added a pair of hits, including a key two-out RBI double. First Half Race The Giants (29-25) are four games behind first-place Stockton (33-21) in the first half North Division race. 16 games remain in the first half. All 16 games will be played against North Division opponents (seven games vs. Stockton, six games vs. Modesto, three games vs. Visalia). Alen Hanson Continues Rehab Assignment San Francisco Giants infielder Alen Hanson (left hamstring strain) is scheduled to continue his rehabilitation assignment with San Jose tonight. Hanson is batting.298 with four homers and 12 RBI s in 14 games for the SF Giants this season (last game was May 12). Hanson began the year with Sacramento (AAA) where he hit.403 in 18 games. He s 2-for-6 with a home run and two RBI s in two rehab games with San Jose this week. On The Mound The Giants team ERA of 3.48 ranks second in the California League (Visalia leads at 3.18). San Jose has allowed the fewest home runs in the league (26) while they re third with five shutouts. The Giants have issued the most walks of any staff in the league this year (217, 4.0 per game). Miller Surging Jalen Miller had an outstanding series at the plate against Visalia finishing 7-for-14 with two home runs and five RBI s in the four games. Miller smacked two home runs in the series opener on Monday the first multi-homer game of his career. He also delivered a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 11th inning on Tuesday He s now hit safely in 20 out of his last 22 games and currently ranks sixth in the California League in batting average (.315) and second in hits (64). Familiar Foe Tonight marks the 17th game of the season already between San Jose and Modesto. The Giants are 8-8 against the Nuts overall (4-3 at Municipal Stadium, 4-5 at John Thurman Field in Modesto). The teams are scheduled to play 22 games against each other in the first half (30 total in 2018). May Review The Giants posted a 14-15 record during May (after a 15-10 April).
